Week 2 Discussion Thread

Is Daniels gonna play for KU this week?

I have no clue man. I think it be nice but after seeing Toledo offense vs illlni I feel pretty confident Bean be just fine, not like he hasn’t gotten a ton of work in the offense w Daniels hurt so freaking much.

Yeah we have two better QBs playing lol

I hardly ever bet on ISU, they're my team but dogs in this game tend to shine

I'm cool putting money on the Clones. Hated Dekker.

This series is very similar to the service academy games to me. There no point looking at the players, schemes, changes. It’s a nice to get some these type games where you just stick with what has proven to be a winning formula!! Every year guys have these long talks bout army/navy/Air Force but you pretty much just play the under!! ThAt might get put to test this year as it sounds like those teams are gonna start trying some different things on offense but hopefully it just leads to a slightly higher total! Lol.

Isu/iowa it dog or under, I don’t care what the names the players are. Lol

We got a North Phoenix gathering coming together, only ISU bar here is in Tempe and that's a haul for me....most of these people have 20 minute drives just to MEAT up in N Phx lol. Only thing is I'm in charge and it's an alumni event but I didn't actually go to ISU

To me it all about the over baby! I agree bout petrino but I think Holgerson system is gonna suite Van Dyke incredibly well, and as I mentioned above I think Cristobal a terrible HC but he is pretty damn good at building Olines, if this offense has a strong line blocking for them they are gonna put up numbers! I don’t know much bout Aggies players but the reason I’m excited for over cause im In same boat as you that I just believe in Petrino to have a very good offense w the kind of talent they should have.
You could be right about the over but I thought the Miami offense was extremely unimpressive and Van Dyke looked about the same as he did last season which is bad. Not a clue what to make of the Miami defense facing that opponent but it did appear to be well coached.

Van Dyke will be throwing down the field. I dunno where ya’ll coming up with this conclusion? The houston offense has been pretty damn good since he been there under Holgerson. They averaged 8.2 yards per pass last season w a qb who not close to the arm talent Van Dyke has. Am I missing something? The OC was in houston the last 4 years correct? Are we basing this off week 1 or what? Im so confused how ya’ll have determined he bad after 1 game in which they didn’t have to show anything as they played a team who took a knee starting at beginning the game!! Canes didn’t even play fast week 1, That wasn’t the offense we will see going forward. Unless im so high I got the wrong guy, the wrong team, something?? If this the dudes 1st year and he was Holgerson oc the last 4 I dunno how you and @brewers888 have determined this offense is bad??
I'm just going on what I saw in the first game which was pretty unimpressive and adding that to seeing a lot of people didn't think much of the hire. As for Cristobal he has one thing he is good at and thats recruiting but I think that too takes a hit when they fall flat on their faces again this season.

Van Dyke looked like a first round draft pick two years ago and regressed badly since then. The QB I saw in week one looked way too similar to the one that played last season.

I'd like to be wrong about Mario and the team in general since I'm a fan but I just don't see this guy being the coach to make this program relevant again.

I was incredibly impressed with Van DYKE

Tickle me with whatever pronoun you need

We must have been watching different games. To be fair I didn't see it till 3 am or so and was barely awake so I could be wrong.

If I actually capped it I would prob like iowa. Problem is this iowa vs isu, capping it is an exercise in futility! Just know it prob be very low scoring and the dog covers this game a lot!! (7 of last 10 I believe).
Total is 36! Just feels right with Iowa vs isu

Miami offense used to suck, are we sure if gonna suck this year? I feel pretty confident in saying Van Dyke could be very good, as in good enough to get drafted at some point. I watched him a lot 2 years ago and the kid can sling it all over the field! Whatever happened during that shit show last year before he got hurt wasn’t his fault. Now they bring in a oc who been learning under Holgerson for 4 years, I have a pretty good idea what this offense will look like. I know this qb is 10x more talented than the qbs who put up yards at houston basically throwing to one Uber talented wr, I assume canes have 3-4 guys who as talented as that kid was!! I hate Cristobal as a HC but the one thing other than recruiting he does very well is build olines! If I’m wrong feel free to remind me and laugh, lol, god knows trusting Miami and Cristobal are not things I’m excited about even if I do long for the canes heyday as I grew up loving that team! That has nothing to do with this, im telling ya, canes are gonna be able to light up most anyone!

I didn’t see anything in game 1 to suggest that. A few big runs but majority of plays were blown up by Miami OH. They scored 7 on the first play of the game. I somehow got stuck watching all of that game.

Virtually every pass I saw from Van Dyke was on point but I was sober

Less worried about him vs this spread they’re running. Just wasn’t impressive. I expect USC type scoring from every team I back lol

Mate I'm capping soccer before I unload on Duke

It might be an ER night

I watched entire game also cause I had Gabbert over 180 pass yards which coulda cashed easy i think it the Ohio coach had any interest in trying to win! The only time he let Gabbert throw other than 3rd and long after 2 runs for a half yard was the 2min before half and he took them right down field. So thought just maybe after half but nope the pos coach went back to run run pass on 3rd and 9. Gabbert still somehow got to 120s and I was thinking 4 min left let him try, and he takes Gabbert out and let’s sone other Asshole chuck it up!! Anyways I have no clue why you would think canes offense is gonna resemble that? They had no need to show or do anything. Not sure bout Ohio blowing up majority of plays? That isn’t accurate at all they ran ir so easily and each back popped one for td. Van Dyke was efficient with only handful of incompletions, hit the shot he took. But again that game was a total joke. Maybe If Ohio wasn’t just there to collect a check and actually tried/let their qb have any chance, then we might have saw more of what I believe canes will look like. Unfortunately while the little fcs schools who 30 points dogs were all giving it their damndest all over the country the team from the MAC who might have been able to make that a game didn’t care enough to try, so them and Miami both pretty much were running out the clock from the 1st drive. That what I saw. Maybe I’m dead wrong and If so I’ll pay for it cause I love the over this week. I think it will be similar to cal/unt where the total did not reflect at all the speed of game or amount of plays that will be run. The defenses are better than those teams in this one but I think the amount of plays and opportunities for big plays will be there on both sides. If that was how canes offense gonna run all year id be shocked.

Best part of that post was I read Cal/UNT as cunt

Sad I didn’t post that total but my day was so hectic it was all I could do posting props so I didn’t post any my sides/totals other than maybe discussing them one place or another. That was one those totals seems like we get every year the 1st week where a team has totally changed offensive philosophy after being known for boring crappy offense and solid d the entire time the head coach been there! Think it went over before half and cal cleared it on their own! I did post the Ott rush yards and td prop, I was pissed that they didn’t offer any props on UNT players, I woulda def played their qb ov 1.5 td passes and yards. So goofy they sometimes post players from one team but not the other!

I just saw they came out with cal/auburn total, 55! That feels way low to me!! Obviously cal won’t be running all over auburn the way they did unt but the important thing is they are gonna play fast! We know freeze team isn’t about running clock and after seeing a few things unt was able to do threw the air early in that game I have no doubt Thorne will hit at least a few deep balls! Cal ran 90 plays in week 1!! Auburn didn’t go that crazy but they stopped trying after one Thorne long td 1st drive after the half. Maybe it loses cause the defenses are stout but the amount of plays I expect get run in this game the total should be in the 60s imo

I didn't watch one second of CU TCU but I know that TCU lost a ton from last year's team. The public will be pounding CU this week and I wouldn't put it past Ruhle and the Huskers to go get the win. I had CU in ML dog pool last week as a total upset special but they're going to lose some games going forward.

Anyone thinking about Southern Miss catching the big number vs FSU off the big win?

I don’t know much bout s.miss. Over the years I’ve realized I rarely do well on the games that have spreads like 4tds or more. I n theory it obviously makes sense but at same time the letdown could be real I also think that fsu offense gonna be a nightmare for teams to stop and Novell never struck me as a take foot off gas guy back at memphis. I def won’t be laying it, understand why ya would take the points but like I said, 30+ points it like who knows if the fav cares to cover? They @ Bc the following week, maybe not a game to be looking ahead to but im sure they would like to go into their 1st conf road game fresh and healthy. That a tough way for me to bet tho cause figuring out wtf these prick coaches will do in those spots a nightmare for me. Seems like they always do the opposite I eclectic!! lol

One thing that will stay the same in Week 2 is Purdue defensive struggles. They have a desperate need for secondary help and Virginia Tech's new wide receiving corps looks much improved, although I still don't think much of Wells. VT o-line remains vulnerable but Purdue's defensive line is very new and unproven.

Hope I never hear the term Coach Prime again in my life

Damn bro, You either gonna have to ignore sports for next 5 or so years or get used to it, lol. I’m pretty much a fan. I love the way the good ol boy network of recycled shitbag coaches and “dues payers” hate him, I like that he came along at a perfect time and has the guts to exploit this redic landscape that been created out of shear greed as ncaa football transitions to a pro league. I kinda wondered why a dude like him wouldn’t just spend rest his life enjoying his money but the answer pretty obvious, he needed a platform to showcase his enormous ego!!! Being out the spotlight didn’t suite his “sensibilities” of being the best at something and letting everyone know about it! Lol. I think it hilarious, and it only gonna get worse cause he will prob have a championship within 5 years or so of waking up one morning and deciding this what he wanted to do!

All that said and even tho I’m a fan of him smashing thru the established order of things that makes ppl mad, im also a fan of a certain amount of humility so while Prime keeping those receipts and reminding everyone every chance he gets and it will make me laugh when he does, I’d also kinda like to see some corn fed Nebraska beef push them around this weekend!! What can I say, I’m complicated! Lol

Will be on the team total over with my Heels again this week, as we were on the road to mid 40s last week and I have no doubt we will get the miscues cleaned up against that App defense. Looking for 37.5 or less but will still take 38 if I see it.

Lots of new faces but the same Wells at QB. Having better WRs will turn some of Well's passes into completions and maybe cut down on his number of interceptions, but he was off on a lot of his throws.

Even more troubling is that even with Tuten at TB, the Hokies still could not run the ball, even against ODU. It appears to be more of an offensive line issue.

VT has good defensive backs but you can run against them. ODU's best play was to drop back to pass, hope for chaos and have the QB run for 5 to 10 yards. They did this at least 20 times. ODU lost their good receivers and their passing game was nonexistent against VT. Delane and Strong at DB are the strength of the Hokie defense.

ODU had 2 or 3 smaller RBs who were speedy but tough runners. They may have some success running the ball against the smaller defensive lines in their conference.

If you can run the ball, you can have success against VT. VT still has not shown that they can run the ball and depending on Wells throwing the ball is rolling the dice.

I love it
If anyone thinks Colorado will “let down” after the big win, wow, need to think again.

First home game the team will be jacked up and the fans will be pumped up for the new Colorado “Prime Time” era.

Colorado beat the spread by 25, Nebraska covered by 4.5 but lost to a poor Minnesota team.

GL!

You aren't gonna get a debate out of me

I play the way I play

Looks like a Pratt won’t play in the Tulane/OM game but it’s the LB’er. Equally important he lead team in tackles last week and was all over the field.

Are we assuming TCU is going to be good this year? I think they turn out to be mediocre.
No. Expect a major regression to the mean. They lost all their best players - tons of juniors and seniors. TCU pulled out so many crazy games last year in the 4th quarter. That kind of confidence only comes with experience and having been there a lot. And they got a little lucky which helps along the way.

I have been fading TCU since the whistle blew against Georgia.
