lidell = easy money
hamill might be worth a play. Franklin can't beat anybody at 185 what makes you think he can beat someone at 205

Hammil is a good bet especially is it goes up past +200. Although Hammil is a poor man's Tito, I still think he controls this fight and takes Franklin down as many times as possible to win by decision.

why no love for rich?

i'm a big fan of his and really was blown away at how silva man-handled him in their fights.... i really hope he gets back on track taking out Hamill, who is nothing more than a glorified wrestling who will never be an MMA star....

i can definately see the iceman/evans fight going to a decision as well - which would likely make evans a decent bet b/c anything can happen then when it's in the judges hands....

still wouldn't really want to bet against chuck though - the guy is always hungry and really can't afford to lose another fight if he wants to stay at the top of the pack... evans can really make a big move for his career with a win over chuck though so he might have a very aggressive plan of attack for this one...

i'm thinking evans might be the best way to go for this fight with all the possibilities that could happen...

Hendo/Palhares odds look off, don't they? i would think Hendo would be a bigger fav, so maybe Palhares is getting a lot of respect... or maybe Hendo has lost a bit of his step? dunno about this one, looks a little off to me....

Marquardt/Kappman looks interesting... Marquardt looked pretty damn good last we saw him, however he got screwed outta the win b/c of a couple lost points from the ref... he might use that as motivation to really take it to Kappman in this one... i like Marquardt to win this....

i know absolutely nothing about Yoshi Yoshida, so i guess Karo being the big favorite is about right...?

Rashad Evens has ZERO chance against Chuck Liddell. I can't believe the line is under 500.

You're wrong! (kinda).

The only reason Evens is getting this fight is because it's in his UFC contract for winning the Ultimate Fighter to be a headliner after a certain date. It's a tune up fight for Liddell.

The only way Liddell loses is if he completely overlooks Evens and Chuck's never overlooked anyone. Evens does not have the punching power or defense to go toe-to-toe with Liddell over three rounds or even 5. Liddell will dispose of him in the 1st.

you're wrong (kinda) There is no way chuck loses this fight. But I do think he overlooked Keith Jardine. :shake:

Today at 3 pm EST, Dana White is holding a press conference to make a big announcement. Most likely announcing the Couture vs. Lesnar fight:popcorn:

Here's my plays...

Liddell -260
Liddell/Evans won't go the distance -145
Henderson -200
Parisyan -240
Franklin -220

Going to play a 4 man parlay too on those 4.

The Liddell fight is the easiest money out there this weekend in all sports.

so do we see Iceman -300 before the bell rings? IMO we do....

i'm going to be jumping on -260 tonight, before the line goes up as bets start coming in on the Iceman....

I'm taking a shot with Hollywood Henderson....coming in with 2 straight losses (both were title fights), he needs to get back into the winning column.

Six-time UFC champion Randy Couture (Pictures) will return to the Octagon this November, ending an 11-month legal battle with the promotion he’s called his home for the last 11 years.

As part of a new multi-fight contract with Zuffa LLC, parent company to the UFC, Couture (16-8) will face Brock Lesnar (Pictures) (3-0) at UFC 91 on Nov. 15 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be waged over five rounds for Couture’s heavyweight championship title.

“As you all know, we’ve had problems with Randy over the last few months, but we’ve got them all worked out now. Randy has always been our heavyweight champion,” said UFC President Dana White.

A previously announced bout between UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Pictures) and Frank Mir (Pictures) scheduled for December will determine the next contender for the UFC heavyweight crown, said White. White described the scenario as a “heavyweight tournament.”

Under the new agreement, the UFC will also attempt to lock down a bout between Couture and No. 1 ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (Pictures) in 2009. The highly anticipated bout has been heralded as the fight of the decade.

We’re gonna do everything we can to make that fight happen,” said White. “Emelianenko’s under another contract right now to another promotion and if we can work it out with the other promotion we will, but we’re not going to screw around with another contract.”

It is believed Emelianenko recently signed an exclusive U.S. contract with the rival promotion Affliction Entertainment. It is not known how many fights Emelianenko has committed to. White said he would not be open to a co-promotion effort with the rival organization.

“I think a lot of compromises were made on both sides,” said Couture, “but we’re both ready to try and move forward. We’ve cleared the air and we’re both in different places than we were a year ago. Sitting last year in legal fights was not something I’ve enjoyed.”

Couture’s abrupt departure from the UFC last October dealt a significant blow to the world’s most visible MMA promotion. Zuffa’s inability to land Pride heavyweight champion Emelianenko played a prominent role in the Couture’s decision to walk away, as did the fighter’s discontent with his pay and treatment by the Las Vegas-based company.

With his resignation, Couture left behind two contracted bouts, his UFC heavyweight crown, and a separate employment contract for on-air commentary services.

The 45-year-old Couture’s return to the UFC signals the end of arbitration proceedings over the fighter’s promotional contract that were underway in Las Vegas. A separate lawsuit filed last January against Couture for breach of his employment contract has also been squashed.

Couture called his return to the UFC “a step in the right direction” to getting a bout with Emelianenko down the line.

A three-time All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State University, Couture won four national championships in Greco-Roman wrestling and made four attempts at qualifying for the Olympics. He made his MMA debut at UFC 13 on May 13, 1997, where, at age 33, he won its heavyweight tournament.

Over the course of the next decade, Couture emerged as one of the most decorated mixed martial artists in history. The UFC’s only six-time champion, he captured the heavyweight belt three times, the light heavyweight title twice, and an interim light heavyweight title as well. Couture was the first fighter to win UFC championships in two weight classes.

His run through the promotion included a memorable trilogy with light heavyweight rival Chuck Liddell (Pictures), the only opponent to beat Couture twice. Following his third bout with Liddell in February 2006, Couture announced his first retirement. Couture returned in March 27 to topple 6-foot-8 giant Tim Sylvia (Pictures) for the UFC heavyweight crown.

Couture has not stepped back into the Octagon since his third-round pummeling of Gabriel Gonzaga (Pictures) at UFC 74 in August 2007.

wow! so the belt will be on the line (5 rd. fight) against Lesnar....

unbelievable!

Courture -500?

Brock has no chance.
I think it will be considerably less. This is a bad matchup for Randy IMO. I dont see him knocking Brock out so he will have to dirty box his way to the ground. Once on the ground, he will have to end it quickly as Lesnar is just too difficult to control on the ground. Couture has good GnP but his submission skills are not on par with the the Mir's and Nog's of the HW division.

To win, he would have to put up a Fedor-like performance against Silvia, where he stuns him early standing, takes him down, and finishes within the first few minutes. I dont think Randy or anyone else can go 5 RDs with the pressure Brock will be putting on for the whole fight. We've seen Randy go the distance with Sylvia, but Sylvia physically is no Brock Lesnar. However, Lesnar's conditioning has not been tested and could be a weakness as he has to cut weight to make the 265 max in the HW division.

This fight is going to get hyped up unlike any other fight and will probably shatter all PPV records for MMA.

So Lesnar gets a title shot with a 1-1 record?

Nog and Mir must be upset given the fact their fight was supposed to be for the HW title. Mir also submitted Lesnar in his debut.

Unreal....

it's just more proof that Dana White cares about one thing, and one thing only for the UFC...... :36_1_36:

It's official: Randy Couture returning to UFC, fights Brock Lesnar at UFC 91

After a very public split with the organization back in October, reigning UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture has agreed to return to the UFC, and he'll meet Brock Lesnar in a UFC 91 championship bout with Brock Lesnar.

UFC President Dana White today confirmed the news in a media conference call.

White also confirmed that UFC 91 will take place Nov. 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas -- not at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Ore., as first expected.

As part of Couture's return to competition, which includes a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, White confirmed that their ongoing legal battle has been resolved. Couture resigned from the organization in October citing a lack of respect from UFC executives, issues over his pay, and the UFC's inability to sign then-free agent Fedor Emelianenko.

"I think some compromises were made on both sides," Couture said.

"All I give a [expletive] about is that he's back and fighting," White said.

White also confirmed that the winner of an upcoming fight between interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir will meet the Couture vs. Lesnar winner sometime in 2009 to unify the titles.

White didn't role out a potential Couture vs. Emelianenko fight -- one that Couture desparately wants -- but said the famed Russian fighter's contract situation could present problems. However, White admitted that he's "always wanted" Emelianenko in the UFC.

Dana White says he has "resolved all" problems with Randy Couture

With a near-year-long, well-documented legal dispute apparently resolved, UFC President Dana White today officially announced the return of heavyweight champion Randy Couture (16-8 MMA, 8-5 UFC) to the organization. Couture will defend his UFC heavyweight title against WWE import Brock Lesnar (2-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at UFC 91 on Nov. 15.

The bout, reported by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) last week, will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas rather than Portland, Ore., as previously expected.

The winner of that bout will then take on the winner of the December title affair between UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir in order to unify the UFC's heavyweight belts.

"We had some problems with Randy," White admitted during today's media call. "We've resolved them all. He has always been the heavyweight champion of the UFC. It took us some time to get everything straight, but I think we're all good now and ready to move forward."

Couture resigned from the organization in October, with two fights remaining on his contract, over what he perceived to be a lack of respect from UFC officials, issues over his pay, and the UFC's inability to sign then-top free agent Fedor Emelianenko. Couture planned to wait for the 18-month deal to expire so he could compete in an outside promotion, but UFC officials contended that the contract wouldn't be fulfilled until the two fights were completed. That matter -- as well as a dispute over his employment/promotional contract and Couture's decision to sign a fight contract with HDNet Fights earlier this year -- had been tangled up in the court system.

Today, White said that Couture's old contract was scrapped in favor of a brand new three-fight deal with the UFC.

"No matter whether Randy wins or loses (the bout with Lesnar), he will still be in the UFC," White said.

White said his recently tumultuous relationship with Couture has not suffered any long-term damage despite the differences between the two over the past 12 months.

"I think everybody knows my personality and how I get," White said. "When I don't like somebody, I make it very clear that I don't like them. ... Through this whole thing, I never hated Randy or said anything really bad about Randy.

"The worst thing I think I said about Randy through this whole thing? I think I called him confused. That's it. That's pretty mild for me. I like Randy. I always have. This whole thing never made sense to me."

Couture remains steadfast in his desire to face Emelianenko, the current WAMMA heavyweight champion. White said he will do everything in his power to bring Emelianenko into the UFC -- despite White's numerous claims that Emelianenko was "completely irrelevant."

"[Couture] has made it very clear how bad he wants to fight Fedor," White said. "We're going to do everything in our power to make a Fedor fight happen."

Arranging a fight between Couture and Emelianenko may still prove difficult.

"We're not going to mess with anybody's contract," White said. "[Emelianenko] is under contract right now to another promotion. If he becomes available or something can be worked out with that other promotion -- obviously everybody knows how crazy we are about protecting our contracts; we would never do that to somebody else.

"If the Fedor fight can be made, if he becomes available or whatever, then absolutely we would love to make the Fedor fight."

Before any bout with Emelianenko can be considered, Couture must first get past the massive Lesnar. Couture insists he will not allow any future plans to cloud his focus on the task at hand.

"Obviously [Lesnar] is a great big guy," Couture said. "On the ground or standing he poses some interesting problems. I've got to go to work and find the answer to those questions."

Dana White said that at this point Brock doesn't really deserve a title shot but the UFC is in the position to give the fans the fights they want to see, so im guessing that the last 2 PPV's with Brock on them had a lot of buys.

Not trying to be a dick, but I completely disagree with your thoughts on Courture's chances. He's got as got 40 more fights than Brock, his wrestling background is comparable and as for all around skills, Randy is superior except in the aspect of brute strength and quickness. Plus he has some of the best take down defense there is. Brock lost his fight because of his inexperience. You make one wrong move with someone with Courture's experience and it's over. Brock to have any chance will have to fight a flawless fight.

Brock is a one-dimensional fighter right now. Overwhelm by force and GnP. You can't beat Randy being one-dimensional. In Brock's fights and his Pride fight he's gassed in every match.

I'll gladly take the savy vet versus the older up and comer.

I don't think we'll have to worry about the 5 rounds, Mogo, it ain't gonna come remotely close to that.

fuck that kush is right. The only way randy stands a chance is if he catches Brock. What makes randy better than people is he is a vastly superior wrestler. There's not a person in MMA that can stop Brocks Takedown, I think Brock is as fast as Randy too. He's the one guy that can outwrestle Randy. Chuck's beat Randy by being one demensional

I understand completely:shake:

But lets be real, the only reason Brock lost to Mir was due to Mir's superior submission skills that are unmatched in the HW division with the exception of NOG. Randy will not/can not do that to Lesnar, Sylvia, or any other big HW who outweighs him by over 60 lbs on fight night. You have to remember that Brock cuts weight to make 265. He will be more like 280+ on the night of the fight. Randy used to be a LHW and usually fights at around 220. I just dont see anyone being able to control Lesnar on the ground. Mir and NOG are probably the only fighters in the HW division that have the awareness and BJJ skills to pull of a split second submission to counteract Lesnar brute strenght and physical ability. Couture only chance at submission would be to Rear naked choke, which often takesa bit longer to sink in on a bigger fighter. I also dont see Couture getting a KO on the feet, so his best chance would be to either stun him early and use his quickness and experience to end the fight quickly or wait until Brock fades which is not a very good strategy IMO. The layoff could only hurt Randy and I agree that his takedown D is among the best in the sport. But when facing an All-American wrestler who happens to be alot bigger and stronger, that takedown D is not going to be a factor.

Either way, probably wont bet against Randy as I am rooting for him to win. Just think that Mir or Nog would have been better/easier matchups for him in his first fight back. If he happens to lose this fight, the Fedor/Couture hype will lose all its steam.

Im not trying to be a dick either, just trying to get some quality MMA discussion in this forum:shake:

Completely disagree with the Brock is a better wrestler than Randy arguement.

Randy was a 3 time all america and 2 time national runner up at Oklahoma. He's also versed in Greco, which is a HUGE advantage in MMA as opposed to freestyle. Size and strength don't win matches. Technique does and Randy has far superior technique overall.

I'm not saying Brock doesn't have a chance, but he's too green to the sport to be facing a veteran and legend the likes of Couture. I'm looking at this from the perspective of someone who trains taekwondo and jujitsu since I was 7, not a fan who watches all the matches. That's why the Vegas is so bad at setting lines, because they have no clue what's actually going on and where the advantages are. I'm not saying you guys are "just fans", but one of my good friends is on Ultimate Fighter this year and I've trained him a little bit in jujitsu and what Couture brings to the fight versus Brock is huge.

It's the same reason why I think Shamrock will have a great chance to beat Kimbo. Shamrock has too much ability assuming he doesn't get hurt to lose. He's not a great ground fighter, but if he gets Kimbo on the ground it's over.

I may have mispoke I don't think Brock is a better wrestler per say but he's good enough to combine his size and strength with his ability to control Randy. I did wrestle for 6 years and I know that a really good big guy beats a great smaller guy. It would almost be like Randy fighting hughes. I'm breaking this down like a wrestling match/ground control cause that is both of their styles. It could end being something completely different but that's how I see the fight going. Theres a big difference between being big and strong and not knowing how to wrestle and just trying to overpower someone and actually having ability and combining that with the strength and speed

On a side note. I don't think shamrock can beat ANYONE:shake: He made the sport what it is but he is and always was the epitomy of mediocraty. He would get crushed by todays fighter even if he was in his prime.

I don't think Kimbo can beat anyone either though, anyone legit that is.

How long do you think the match between Couture/Lesner will last?

Kyle Kingsbury is his name and will be in the LHWT class. He's got the perfect mentality and personality for that show. Plus he's a pretty decent fighter. Wrestling background and is 7-1-1. He dominated the SW Cage Rage and Rage in the Cage circuit in Arizona. He played football at ASU and that's how we met. It's hard to judge how good some of these guys are, but I think Kyle's got a good shot. Where he'll struggle I think is if he runs into someone with extensive jujitsu experience. Kyle's more of a striker. He's got deadly knees though, but he's long and lean, which certainly helps.

I agree with that statement. He's not fighting a legit fighter. Did you see his last 2 fights against Tito?

I really don't know mn. I can see it going the distance very much in the same fashion as the Herring fight. Lesnar controlling him and winning the rd with little action. I can also see the ref stopping it in favor of either fighter.

Brock is still new to MMA. Though he is quick, powerful and athletic for his size, his MMA talent is still raw...meaning he still needs to develop his awareness and put it all together fluidly. Maybe back in the days, brute strength could finish a fighter, but not in todays MMA. There is so much aspects in MMA and you have to be skilled all around.

I'm not saying Randy is a guaranteed win as anything can happen. But, I dont get why Brock has a title shot, when you got 2 very skilled MMA fighters in Nog and Mir waiting on the sidelines. What Randy brings to the table is far more superrior than most HW. He might not be as big, strong or fast as Brock, but his ring I.Q. say's it all. Besides Lidell, he knows how to finish fights and trains very hard...specifically for each opponent.

And as far as Kimbo goes, it's not really his fault...rather than Elite XC putting him in the spot light. He admits that he's still a "baby" in MMA and has a lot to learn. But if Gary and Jared Shaw was to wave a few million in my face, shit I'll walk the line for that......skilled or un-skilled.

Shamrock will probably submit Kimbo with a heel hook or some kind of ankle lock. He'll probably take Kimbo down, g-n-p, then look for the easy submission. All he has to do is let Kimbo gas out and then start working....

odds are out for Couture/Lesnar already.... a bit surprising huh....
