lots of games tomorrow and lots of heavy juice.

if anyone has their own thoughts about games tomorrow, please post. I will throw a few out there that look quiet appealing.

Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets OVER 9 +100
If this drops to 8.5 tomorrow I think I'm jumping all over this one. Beltran is supposed to return for Tuesday's game and the Mets just love their lefties. The career #'s for Moyer against the Mets are deceiving since they aren't against this set of Mets. I just think that Moyer will get into trouble here has he's given up 4 or more in 3 of his last 4 games and has given up 9 HRs in his last 5 games. The Mets line up is dangerous with or without Alou and Green.

Glavine has given up atleast 3 ERs in all of his home starts but has atleast gone 6 innings in each of them. He just hasn't pitched as well at home as he does on the road. One thing he has going for him is that the Phillies don't hit lefties well and he's had some success against the Phils, with the exception of Rollins who has owned Glavine hitting .375 with 6 HRs and a .433 OBP. Helms and Burrell have done pretty well too.

Wind is supposed to be blowing out to left field @ 15 MPH.

Kansas City Royals +255 @ Cleveland Indians -275 O/U 9

Should Cleveland really be favored this much? Sabathia has plenty of talent but he's had times where he gives up hits in bunches and will get scored on. I mean I guess they owned De La Rosa but the Indians are 9-7 against Lefties... maybe an OVER is in order.

Baltimore Orioles +132 @ Seattle Mariners -140 O/U 9
People may begin to start taking notice of Burres and at this price against Baek I think you've got to take the O's. At this price I'm seeing a pickem if Baek is on the road... doesn't make any sense to me.

Boston Red Sox -158 @ Oakland Athletics +150 O/U 9
One of the most overpriced pitchers in baseball on the road as a favorite of -150 vs the A's. DiNardo only gave up 1 ER last week but 4 runs were scored on him. He should've lasted longer if it wasn't for the errors. I guess the Red Sox know DiNardo better than most teams since he was with them for 3 years he was using sparingly as he spent most of his time in Triple AAA. I'm just saying... the A's are definitely worth a shot.

I'm getting conflicted startes on the Fla/Atl double header tomorrow. Pinny says Mitre v. Carlyle and Smoltz v. Vanden Hurk. Yahoo, CBS Sportsline, and ESPN have Mitre v. Smoltz and Carlyle v. Vanden Hurk.

Chris Young -143 @ Home. normally I think I might lay off against Schmidt but coming back from injury against a team he has a 4.98 ERA against.

renew, that san diego game is one I am eyeing , currently -137 at 5 dimes reduced. Also interested in Baltimore and Cincinnati looks decent, but I hate betting on them cause their bullpen keeps screwing me. Altho they did have the day off yesterday.

I need to get a 5dimes account just for those overnight reduced juice lines and the occasional parlay of Halladay, Sabathia, and Smoltz haha.

Cincy looks appealing too facing off against Wellemeyer with Harang as a small favorite. Funny how bad the NL Central is... just awful

Nice thread Renew.:shake:

I will be up early 2morrow so I will add my thoughts then.

I went to see Knocked Up 2night, I suggest anyone who likes to laugh go see it, if you don't like it you don't like to laugh..Simple enough

I am baked back in the morning :fumeur7:

Harang doesn't have great numbers against the cards, historically, although he did pitch them well earlier this year@ Busch. But it is well documented how bad the cards were hitting the ball in the early part of the season. His away stats look promising.

I feel that I am getting closer and closer to breaking 2 of my personal rules, betting on the reds, and on/against my fav team, the cards. I am hoping to find something better....

The one thing I have found on Young and the Pads is that Young has never beaten the Dodgers. 6 games, only two decisions, and all games were losers. All things usually come to an end, and getting schmidt back on the mound who was roughed up the last time he faced the Pads might do it, I just don't know if I want to lay 137 or so to find out.

Mitre and the Marlins are on my rarar also, only problem is he is squaring off against a guy in Carlysle who has very little pro experience, and not much data to goo off of this year. Still Sergio has looked good his last couple outings, and is not too badly priced against the rook.

in order of favoritism fla, sd, cincy, balt. tho the first two are neck and neck.

haha nothing compared to yours, you put a lot more effort than me.

I have to go see Knocked Up at some point, but I'm "busy" working through The Office DVDs right now, love that show.

It's been like a month since I've last smoked, a good break for me this summer until I get back into NO... hopefully I use this time wisely and study for the GRE like I am supposed to. hook a brother up, would ya? haha

Looking forward to your thoughts :shake:

Florida did look like a solid play but I have no idea who he is really pitching against tomorrow if it's Smoltz or Carlyle. Posted earlier about how Pinny has him listed vs. Carlyle but all the sports websites have him against Smoltz. But he might be a nice dog against Smoltz, probably a nice Under if that is the case.

just as I finished typing, sd had moved 2 cents to -139. Going to go ahead and grab some now, and potentially sell it if people go wild for young.

mlb,com and 5dimes say mitre v carlyle. Then vadenhurk vs smoltz.

yea, must be that then if pinny says it too.

definitely will be looking into the fish tomorrow.

I don't want to go overboard with plays but looks like there will be a chance for some RLs, Parlays tomorrow, might deposit a little bit into 5dimes tomorrow just for that.

Dug up a little info on Sonnanstine for TB from Rotoworld.

Devil Rays recalled RHP Andy Sonnanstine from Triple-A Durham.
Sonnanstine, who had a 2.66 ERA in 11 starts at Durham, will join the rotation, pitching Tuesday after J.P. Howell goes on Sunday. Casey Fossum is getting sent to the bullpen. Sonnanstine is the superior option of the two newcomers in AL-only leagues, though it'd still be too risky to use him right away.

Even though the Twins took an absolute beating, I think the Twins have WAY TOO MUCH value tomorrow. No way the Angels would be favored around -150ish in a Baker v. Escobar matchup @ the metrodome...

Smoltzy owns the Fish, but off the injury idk what to think. Id like to try the over just because I think the Braves get to Vanden Hurk early and work the bullpen or RL.

More on Andy Sonnanstine:

Sonnanstine had his contract purchased and will make his major league debut Tuesday at Toronto. He is 40-18 with a 2.56 ERA in 84 career minor league games. He is 6-4 with a 2.66 ERA and 66 strikeouts through 71 innings pitched for Durham this season. His debut has been highly anticipated and we will get a first look at him on Tuesday. If he sticks in the rotation after Tuesday, he will likely finish out Fantasy Week 10 (June 4-10) as a two-start pitcher with a second outing against the Marlins. He is worth a flier in AL-only leagues and possible larger mixed leagues. He has the talent to stick around.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays designated right-hander Jae Seo for assignment Friday, one of several moves made to revamp the starting rotation. A pair of starters, left-hander J.P. Howell and right-hander Andy Sonnanstine, were promoted from Triple-A Durham. Reliever Jae Kuk Ryu was optioned to Durham. "We saw it all the way through," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "We wanted to make sure the guys down below were ready. These two guys were deemed ready and we felt it was necessary to do something at the point."

Jason Schmidt:

Jason Schmidt, the Dodgers' primary offseason pitching staff addition, will return from a nearly seven-week layoff because of an inflamed right shoulder to start Tuesday night in San Diego. The Dodgers made the decision to return Schmidt to their rotation after he threw six shutout innings Wednesday for Class-A Inland Empire in a rehabilitation start, then followed that with an impressive bullpen session Saturday in Pittsburgh. "We really needed to see how that ball was coming out of his hand," manager Grady Little said. "Hopefully, he can continue feeling good. If he's feeling good and ready to go, we feel confident we can put him out there for 90 pitches or so Tuesday. We know he's going to compete, and we'll see what happens."

I also believe I red somewhere he was throwing again in the low 90's for his fastball but I can't find the source. Up from his low 80s earlier this year. Try to confirm tomorrow.

Burres first 5 not Baltimore for the game. He seems to give up 1 run first five and get great support. Why risk Baltimore closers. GL

Like the thoughts, tuck. No access to 5 inns lines for me. Their manager is more tragic than their pen - pulls his starters way too quick (on recent evidence)

outstanding, I am seeing WAS +103 @ Matchbook.

This is my first post here at CTG, although I have been reading the baseball forum every day for the past two months. reNO, I am a New Orleans native, so I was turned onto your thread immediately because of your screename. You offer some great thoughts and show an impressive record in MLB thus far. Congratulations and I hope it continues.

hah Renew - That was my first time blazing in like 10 days, I have cut back a lot since I been home...Right now I have a weed hangover, lol.

A lot of what said above I can't really disagree with. I am going on the Assumption that Marlins are pitching Mitre in the early game vs. Carlyle, every book I have looked at has that and I trust them more than sportsline.com and other websites.

Early Bird Special: Marlins -119:

Ok first everyone should be aware why Mitre left the game last outting while dominating the Cubs:

"Mitre tweaked his hamstring in his last start Wednesday against the Cubs while running the bases. He has since gone through a battery of drills, including simulated fielding drills on Saturday. He is not yet 100 percent, but the team is hoping so by Tuesday. " -sportsline.com, posted on Sunday

"Mitre will look to keep Florida's momentum going in the first game. His start was pushed back one day to give him time to rest the right hamstring he strained in his outing on May 30 against the Chicago Cubs.
The right-hander threw four scoreless innings without getting a decision in that game. Mitre is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA in four career appearances, including two starts, against the Braves, although he has not faced them since 2004." -covers.com preview.

Ok so his hamstring might not be 100%, that is the risk you are taking and that is why the line is -119, otherwise this line is a lot higher. I think if they are letting him pitch he is alright but I hope he doesn't lose what he has on the ball because right now he is pitching verrrry well.

Mitre in May:

5/5: SD = ND, 6ip, 4h, 1er, 1bb, 3k
5/10: LA = ND, 8ip, 3h, 0er, 3bb, 4k
5/15: @Pitt = W, 7.2ip, 8h, 2er, 0bb, 4k
5/20: @TB = W, 7ip, 5h, 2er, 0bb, 3k
5/25: NYM = ND, 7.2ip, 7h, 0er, 1bb, 8k
5/30: @CHC = ND, 4ip, 3h, 0er, 1bb, 7k

Those numbers are enough to get me to back him today.

The series this yr: 4-2 Marlins

Carlyle:

"The Braves will turn to Carlyle (0-1, 9.00) to start Game 1. Carlyle was called up from Triple-A Richmond to start on May 26, when he allowed five runs in four innings of a 6-4 loss to Philadelphia.
The appearance was his first in the majors since May 25, 2005, for the LAD and his first start since Oct. 2, 1999, for San Diego.
Carlyle also made a relief appearance last Tuesday, throwing one scoreless inning in Milwaukee without receiving a decision. He started against Florida on Sept. 4, 1999, allowing five runs in 3 1-3 innings of a 6-4 defeat for the Padres" -covers.com preview.

I am sure Trout can chime in a little more on Carlyle for everyone but pitching wise he is outmatched as long as Mitre is not hurt.

"Sergio Mitre pronounced himself to be ''100 percent'' Monday and said he felt ready to take the mound." -Miami Herald

outstanding, I am seeing WAS +103 @ Matchbook.

Nice

I wasn't really born in New Orleans haha, in Metairie and haven't lived there basically my entire life but have been in New Orleans the last 3 years @ Tulane.

I try my best to offer whatever information I can, there are many great cappers on here and they provide some excellent insight.

Why is LAD/SD O/U only 7 runs?

Young has been dominant at home... 0.66 ERA. I know he hasn't won a game vs the Dodgers, but has pretty good #'s against them. Basically you are expecting Schmidt to get pounded today if you want over 7

The only thing that worries me about this play is that the home team is 10 -0 (Last 10) with plate umpire Vanover behind the dish!!!!

Good luck Budha

I'm here to disagree with your statement on backing the A's. There is only one way that the A's win this game, and that is if Lenny DiNardo can hold his former team down over 7 innings. The A's bullpen simply does not have what it takes to hold the Red Sox down. Minor league callup Santiago Casilla has been a mild surprise, but he should be unavailable after going 2 innings last night and 1.1 the night prior. Kiko Calero has been god damn terrible, but he is probably the most rested reliever and should see some time tonight. The closer, Embree, just blew a save last night.

I know Matsuzaka has been poor and has been overpriced, but I'm having trouble envisioning the A's really scoring more than a couple off of him...and if DiNardo can't go at least 6, the A's have no shot, regardless. I personally think the Red Sox are actually UNDERpriced due to Matsuzaka's struggles and a lack of acknowledgment for Oaklands pen injuries...

Seabass - I agree with you. I hate the A's bullpen and that just such a huge risk for the A's vs. the RedSox. I don't think they can hold them down if they have a lead.

thats cool Seabass, it's good to see other views of games before you make a play on it. I can see why you say what you say. Thanks for the input

General Question to all:
Any idea who is the UMP in New York/Philly tonight?

Situational wise if Marlins win game 1 I will give Smoltz a hard look in game 2 on some -1 type play..
