Tipeyerbartender REFS thread...

I debated one of my apartment mates deep into the night about this. I either won, or he was just tired.

backing tip here....refs my ass.....GS is soft as charmin.........and don't even get me going on that gritty white kid from st. marys.....cavs just shoving it up their ass so far....

great thread

Which is fine, and Cle could easily be up 3-0 now and are playing great with what they have...

It is the point that Tip doesn't think refs influence the NBA...in general...nothing to do with this series...

Man I hope Mauer is reffing tonight.

Ref assignments drop in approx 4 hours. It's Joey or Mauer. Could live with the former but Mauer may make Tip believe.

Game 1 - Dubs 22 FTA's, Cavs 19 FTA's (GS win)

Game 2 - Dubs 25 FTA's, Cavs 40 FTA's (Cle win)

Game 3 - Cavs 24 FTA's, Dubs 12 FTA's (Cle win)

Cavs 11-1 SU (9-2 ATS) in games they shoot more FT's this postseason (they lead the playoffs in FT disparity and wins directly accredited to it).

LeBron 43-11 SU (35-18-1 ATS) in games during the playoffs since 2010 in which his team has the free throw advantage.

That's 54 games his team has had the FT advantage in the playoffs since 2010 (the year of the Decision).

In the same period the Spurs have had the FT advantage in 40 games, the Thunder in 31 games, Pacers in 30 games.

Can break it down even further with the advantages in other areas directly ref related regarding LBJ but the FTA advantage correlates stronger with winning and covering.

Joe Crawford, Callahan and Mauer are your Game 4 refs.

Like Callahan (dude likes the road team this postseason) and especially Mauer (as anti-LeBron as the league allows him to be), Ken not the crew chief though.

Joey C is a league man, could go either way but he's not afraid to call fouls on LeBron (especially on offense).

Better than the shit they deployed in the previous 2 games anyway.

Fire away Tipper.

Em, that's BS to be honest. Bron made 5 Finals in a row, even if his team gets FT advantage in 50% of the cases, his team will lead the league in times his team had FT advantage...
I checked a bit against the teams you mentioned further down the list (Spurs, Pacers and Thunder).

Last year it was 4 - 7 against the Heat (Heat had the FT advantage in 4 out of 11 games)
The year before that, it was 2 - 11 against the Heat (one was a tie)
They did win against both Thunder (3 - 2) and Pacers (4 - 2) the year before that.
Still... only in 13 out of 36 games, did Heat have the FT advantage against those teams...

Also, Bron is probably the hardest player to stop one on one in the world, when he drives to the basket. Of course teams are going to commit tons of fouls on him. I'm actually shocked that Heat had the advantage in only 13 out of 36 games. That just proves that Bron didn't take it to the rim as much (and that refs don't give him and Wade the benefit of the doubt as much as everyone here convinced they are).

It's amazing that somehow, lately, I have to defend LeBron (though I never liked him) and go against all the talks about the refs (despite me personally believing they can matter and alter the outcome of the game). You guys just really took it to the extreme.

I took GSW, but at least tonight, if Cleveland somehow win it, there shouldn't be any more of that refs BS...

Just putting it out there is all Divol. No team comes close to LeBron when it comes to FTA's and wins, not bullshit.

Think you're looking at it differently.

Heat were 37-10 SU (30-17 ATS) in playoff games where they had more FTA's than their opposition during LeBron's tenure.

Including the regular season it's quite amazing.

Info is what it is, use it how you will.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about what you wrote later - how many times Bron's teams had FT advantage and how many other teams had it.
And again, the year they won the ship (2013) - they had FT advantage in only 2 of the 14 games in EC and NBA Finals and still they won it.

Obviously when you are sweeping the Sixers or the Bucks, you will both kill them SU and ATS and have the FT advantage...

Could it be that Cleveland gets more free throws because they go to the paint far more

Lebron doesn't get nearly as many FTs as he should imo.... but it is what it is

refs definitely favor the dubs tonight... series decided tonight imo

So you guys are telling me if GS wins tonight, I have license to pin it in the Warrior-friendly refs, regardless of what actually transpires on the court.

yes referees on occasion take control of games by handing out technical fouls like olive garden chocolate mints

some refs dont give players any leadway to let off steam/frustration....

refs are put in a tough spot by the league but it comes with the territory

Would still eat at olive garden

Would still eat at olive garden

i HATE olive garden with a passion... dont even get me started... hence why i used the phrase...

the only Darden restaurant I actually enjoy is Bahama Breeze and thats only because of the happy hour

I love Bahama Breeze. No matter the location, you can count on bland food and a decent view of the interstate highway.

You can 100% complain if the refs try to establish a basketball game and not a rugby match. Your complaint would have to be this is too ticky tack I preferred it when the MVP was getting held 10 seconds a possession. That this game with fluid pace, ball movement, etc. is appalling and you prefer the refs that pushed for a football game when you have the best running back in the league ramming his way to the hoop every possession.

Think we get possibly the best game of the series tonight. Hopefully not the score but the pace and talent of these players should be on display and it should be enjoyable.

I'm probably not seasoned enough to note the difference. Need more lectures.

Can't wait for this game tonight. In a Bart Scott kind of way.

Just noticed the thread title spells my handle as if a pirate was saying it.

lol, so when it's ticky-tack it benefits Cleveland, and when they let 'em play it benefits Cleveland. Home refs favor Cleveland, but road refs favor Cleveland when Cleveland is on the road. Black refs favor Cleveland, but white refs really favor Cleveland. Some refs like a quick pace when it favors Cleveland. Other refs like to slow it down a little bit, to favor Cleveland. Most refs like green eggs and ham. Favors Cleveland and eggman.

emkee is basically saying no matter how the game is called, it favors the Cavs.

I think I said this last summer during the World Cup, but I hate when the staff at a Mexican bar/restaurant goes Spanish all of a sudden. Feel like I'm about to get whacked with a machete.

Btw, tonight, Cleveland gets the benefit of the doubt much more than they did in Games 2 and 3...
