I have not had a winning week since October.

I will try to make at least one bowl play on every bowl game starting with the Army/Navy Game. I have never had a losing season posting here. That is likely to change after this bowl season but I am gonna make a run at it anyway since I have to cap the games anyway. I think I made about 6 units last bowl season so a similar result would at least make the losses more acceptable and less embarrassing. And my ego is hurt. I am not working as hard at it though and I am not enjoying the games as much. The results seem to follow the work. Anyway, let's see what we can work out for the bowl season.

Army vs Navy 1h under 24 -115

Navy QB Worth will miss the game. I have to think it takes the new Navy QB some time to get the machine running well. In addition to Worth, this Navy team is really banged up heading into this game. 37 degrees at kickoff. Army has been good against the run most of the year. They are giving up 3.88 yards per carry and while they gave up 4.79 yards per carry to the AFA option ( long 59 ), the 249 on the ground was not horrendous though they got burned by some big passes. I think Navy is going to have to grind it out and particularly early they may not want to throw with the backup. I also think the navy offense is even slower paced than normal without their normal signal caller. From a pace perspective, these are two of the slowest two teams in the nation. We should see a running clock. In addition, these teams consistently play to unders. I project the game to have roughly 740 yards of total offense, with most of it coming in the second half, after a team is either down and forcing pace more or after the navy qb gets comfortable. I made a funny thread about crazy predictions before the year started. I said Army would beat navy (I also said they would win the commander in chief trophy). I actually do think they have a decent shot at doing that (my final score has navy by 1) in these circumstances and have a pretty big lean to them covering the spread. But the first half under looks like the far superior play and I lost all value with Army by not betting it already.

As a side note. I attended the Army/Navy game last year and it is one of my favorite sports memories. Went with Garfather, Horses and Dmoney and it was an absolute blast. I recommend that game as one of the short list items for a sports fans bucket list.

Man, that must have been awesome.

I was in Colorado last week and was getting winded really easily, recovering from pneumonia but I think it has as much to do with me being out of shape as anything. forget being in college athlete shape or Army tough shape.

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday. He died in 1996 and I think I have talked about that quite a bit here but he was in the Navy, so I generally cheer for them when not involved financially the other way. For some reason, I am really cheering for Army this year.

I wish I had sports memories of playing in these types of things rather than just watching but I will take what I can get, duds

someone I was with did go into a store there and I went with him. It was an interesting experience. I took a picture of two guys that came in ... one with multiple holes in the seat of his pants. They fit my stereotype but saw an older black dude and a thirty year old woman who both looked respectable too.... So not railing on all the pot smokers. I also took a few picks of the inside of the place which got the security guy there nervous. It is all cash business so I guess they worry about people casing the joint (pun intended) or whatever.

Thoughts on FSU?

I try not to get too worked up over motivational angles but from the mich side I'm seeing some giant red flags here. Crushing loss to end the season, players talking about how they're one of the best 4 teams, nutso coach harping on and on about officiating in their dream crusher game, and something like 20+ seniors who may have 1 foot out the door. And mich didn't exactly set the world on fire when leaving the state of mich. Their only win in 3 chances coming against Rutgers.

There is also the FSU motivation to look at ... I think after last years bowl performance, these guys show up to play and it is a game for them to get excited about. FSU basically never got their signature win this year, outside of Florida. FSU been pretty solid the last month. I will get into some matchups later
 
Love him or hate him, I'm in the camp that believes Harbaugh provides his own source of motivation against virtually any team. I like FSU to be plenty motivated in this one. Very interested in that game and think it should be very competitive.

He's a good coach no doubt but plenty of good coaches haven't been able to bring their "A" games in the post season for whatever reason. Sometimes there are outside factors that are beyond the reach of your coaching abilities. If it's happened to Saban it can happen to harbaugh.

You can also argue that mich will be extra motivated to prove that they were deserving of a playoff bid so it cuts both ways. TCU vs ole miss was a good example of this 2 years back. TCU could've been bitter but they went out there and played their tails off.

In this instance I'm just a little troubled by harbaugh's comments and how that trickles down to the overall attitude of the team.

Let the weather in ABQ bring the number down, can't see it being that big a deal with these two honestly. I know you're in already, but I wouldn't let the 22 mph winds frustrate ya

I know you aren't happy with the total move in Albacrack, but think it's not that big a deal. Really think New Mexico get to 38+ and am willing to chase that, I don't have a team total available now. Think they approach 50 themselves. We know that weather has brought the number down, but really how does it change how we see that one playing out? They're running the ball, and in shitty conditions, give me the (home) team that knows where they're going on every play without passing it.

Like it a lot, hope it hits.
