Spurs lost twice to Clips already, including a home loss.
Is that means that Pop will actually care about this game?

Maybe. No decisions here yet but I did not play Spurs last game because I thought Pop might set up a consecutive ATS losses situation for this game. Meanwhile it is very hard to go against Chicago at home on Thursday and yes I know they won their last game and that Miami appears awesome.

Yeah, I agree about the Bulls. Heat made amazing comeback against Hawks. It won't happen every time and Bulls aren't the type of team that would suffer the same mental meltdown as Hawks did, if Heat will find themselves in the same situation.
If Heat would have lost last night, would have been on them.

Having said that, I won't be on the Bulls. Heat are hot, they wouldn't want to lose to Chicago again, especially since, in case of Rose return, they will be their main contenders for the Easter title probably...

Last time we saw the Heat in this spot they played so poorly and almost got beat by a Lakers team that had 20+ turnovers.

Bulls will play them tight. How hard the Heat want to get after it on defense will be the key.

Clips are 2 - 8 ATS as short favorites.
Heat are 3 - 7 ATS as short favorites.
Bulls are 7 - 4 ATS as short dogs.
Spurs are 3 - 3 as short dogs.

San Antonio Spurs

The Rodeo Rode trip continues in L.A. tonight for the Spurs, where they look to improve to 6-1. The game of basketball is all about flow. Teams get into rhythms and routines that are either good or bad, and these habits can help to dictate and influence the outcomes of games. The Clippers were just getting into a nice winning streak before the all-start break. There is something to be said for “too much” rest in the NBA, which can lead to sloppy play. The Clippers have now had a week off - their last game was a beat down of the Lakers on Thursday night TNT. The Spurs have had one game back and a day of rest. Ginobili and Duncan have had a couple games to dust off the rust.

Since the 2000 season, teams playing on a day’s rest, when they are coming off 5+ days rest, against an opponent that is playing their first game back after 5+ days off are 15-6 SU and 12-7 ATS. As a dog, these teams are 7-3 SU and 7-2-1 ATS.

The Spurs swept the Clippers in the playoffs last year, so we know they can match up. Teams that beat an opponent twice already this season are 11-22 ATS since the 2003 season as a home favorite when their opponent knocked them out of the playoffs in the season before. As a home favorite of 5 or less, these teams are 4-7 SU (-8.2) and 1-10 ATS. Since the 2005 season, teams playing on Thursday (TNT day) at home as a favorite of 3 or less points are 39-37 SU and 28-47-1 ATS. The Clippers are 0-11 SU this season when their opponents shoot better than 40% from beyond the arc and make at least 10 threes. The Spurs have the fourth best three point percentage and are third in total three pointers made.

Tonight, the Spurs have a chance to show why they have the best record in the league. The Spurs are the only team in the league that are in the top five in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Parker struggled in the first two meetings, but I expect a big game out of him tonight. Stars generally don’t have three bad games against the same team (reference James Harden last night). Parker is coming into this game averaging 29 points and nine assists in his last five. But really, no one player matters for the Spurs. While the Clippers have struggled without Paul (or in games when he plays poorly), the Spurs are 8-2 without Duncan, 10-3 without Ginobili, and 2-1 without Parker. Although these three are awesome players, for the Spurs it doesn’t really seem to matter who plays (reference their game against the Heat earlier this season). What’s the point of all this rambling about their players, when they are all playing tonight? To point out the real reason the Spurs will win tonight - because they have perhaps the BEST coach in the league in Popovich, and he will have his team prepared tonight.

If the Clippers win tonight, it would be the first time since the 1996 season, and the first time in Duncan’s career, that the Clippers have won the season series. Now that’s some history.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls tonight will take on the mighty task of defeating the Heat for the second time this season. The Bulls are 11-2 SU at home in their last thirteen during the regular season when they beat a team on the road as a dog in the same season.

The all-star break was a nice rest for players, but it can be hard to get back into the grind of playing back to back games and traveling that is part of the NBA. As we saw last night, teams that were playing on no rest against rested opponents went 0-3 SU and ATS. Since the 2008 season, teams playing on no rest after their first game out of the all star break against a rested opponent are 19-28 ATS.

Since the Lebron-Bosh-Wade era in Miami, the Heat have struggled in the regular season against the Bulls, going 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS. In fact, they have not yet won any of their four regular season games played in Chicago. The Bulls seem to have figured out one big the key to beating the Heat (or any team for that matter) - rebounding, which also leads to more field goal attempts. The Heat are 13-33 ATS since the Lebron era when they are out-rebounded on the road. The Bulls out-rebounded them by 20 earlier this season and they have outrebounded them in 6 of their 8 regular season meetings, and they won all these games. If the Bulls can control the glass tonight, they have a good chance to win. The Bulls have an edge with their aggressive frontcourt over the Heat’s smaller sized forwards.

The Bulls have proven that they can play great defense against the Heat, who have the best effective field goal percentage in the league. During the past three seasons, the Heat have averaged their lowest field goal percentage and lowest three point percentage when playing against the Bulls, as opposed to any other team.

The Heat are coming off a hard-fought divisional game where they were trailing after the third quarter and had a huge fourth quarter rally to win. Teams coming off a road game that they won after trailing by 5 or more going into the fourth quarter are 22-32 SU and ATS when playing on the road with no rest since the 2005 season. As a favorite, these teams are 5-11 ATS.

Favorites went 8-2 ATS yesterday, so I’m hoping some dogs can get it done tonight. I’ll take the few points, and hope for two straight out upsets. After two weeks of blow-out games on TNT, I’m thinking that these dogs can keep it close tonight.

Bulls +3
Spurs +3.5

Good luck...

The Clippers are very aware of this history and this game is a major priority.
Still thinking

There is no way the Clips don't have this game as a priority after last season's playoff failings. CP3 is way too competitive and will want to sweep the regular series. LAC sucked for too long, now it's different.

Refs are also relatively 'home minded' in this one...

Yep. Hinrich out but he's never really been in the last month or two. Nate will go 'little man' syndrome given the opponent...

Hinrich a nice player and certainly helps the bulls cause, but by no means should his absence keep anybody off the bulls. Just my two cents.

It was a combination of
Bulls winning the game before. Him being out. Bulls playing away on FRIDAY tomorrow. Just too many problems for me to deal with.

Heat on a mission, more-so LBJ. This was a 'flat spot' for all money and they arose to the occasion.

Rolled the Bulls in Mike's house...

Guess you can smack a dude in the mouth at the end of each quarter, as long as the shot clock has expired...

Sure she was drinking a beer on the sidelines. Marv bailed her out and called it cola.

Can eliminate the Clips from the 'ship picture. Now a 3 horse race - Heat, Spurs and Thunder...

Dude it's one game. Chill. You're acting like me.

ummm can we have like the best of 30 between the Heat and Spurs? Wow what a fucking huge difference those two teams are against the rest of the league.

Thunder were dog shit against the Heat. Westbrook is on my fantasy team and damn he is frustrating, don't think Kev Martin is a playoff guy, Thabo can be as good as he wants on defense but Lebron is going to just burn him all he wants.

Heat just better not play the Pacers lol

When were they in the picture?

I think that Cleveland will win the title before Clippers will...

'Ship teams don't get ass-waxed by almost 40 in their own house regardless of 'rust'...

hehe funny thing was in the 1q, Reggie Miller/Chris Webber both said "the all star weekend gave these two teams some rest and both look like they are coming out with some extra energy"
