gwarner, I like some under 6.5 +143 in that KC game as well.

Final score could easily end up 3-2, 4-1 etc.

My POD is the Cardinals. I got them this AM at -138, but I still like them at -140. Maholm first game back off DL from a sprained wrist on his throwing hand. I have to believe the Braves are still feeling the loss of their hottest hitter (Heyward) from the ugly HBP yesterday. The Cards seem to give Kelly support (30 runs last four starts) and I like the way Kelly has been throwing. No Yadie or Mujica is a bit of a concern, but I think if the game is close late, Molina off the bench could be nice lift for them. Beltran, Craig and Carpenter all with pretty good numbers against Maholm and the Cards seem to be one of those teams that hit in bunches. Add that just one month ago, the Braves swept the Cards down in ATL and the home crowd should be pretty fired up for the first game of this big series.
Hope it hits, but we'll see.

ps. Big props to VK for firing up after a day of drinking to sit with me while I had a few at the casino last night!

I have a hard time seeing why StL is favored today. They have played ten games at home this month and have only 2 home runs versus 71 strikeouts in those ten games. And during that time they are also 1-3 SU with an average of 1.8 runs scored at home versus left handed starters, having lost their last three. They are 13-19 (6-10 home) versus lefties on the season and rank 23rd in OPS versus lefties.

those three losses you speak of against lefties this month were against Kershaw, Ryu and F. Liriano. Paul Maholm is not on the level of those three pitchers ... even a little bit. I agree, they had a tough 10-game home stand with 4 against the LAD, who have lost 9 times since June 1st (or something like that); and three against the Pirates who have the second best record in the NL. Agreed, they should have taken care of the Cubs better than 1-2, but I don't know that they are a fade at home because of that 10-game homestand - and I certainly don't think they should be a dog at home because of it.
Health if you play the Braves, Austin.
J

StL actually beat Kershaw on the 6th, but was shut out by Christopher Rusin on the 9th. But I feel you on your other points. I'm going to hit up this total in KC instead, and will be rooting for you to get the money J.

thanks. I threw a bit on the under in KC as well - we'll see how it goes and you might be right. Maybe the Cards do suck against lefties and won't be able to hit Maholm, but I don't see it.

Giants are 3-8 SU with 1.8 runs per game versus left handed starters since the break (2-5 and 1.7 at home).

Since 2011 the Giants are 3-0 SU in Cain starts versus the Pirates. The Pirates averaged 0.7 runs in those three games.

Those are some sick #s that back the under. But I tailed Scope in the contest on the SF over and got in at +110. He's got some sick #s in the contest. Under seems too easy.

:dunno:

Cain almost no hit them last year as well. Went 8.1 before giving up the first hit ( in San Fran)
