Jeff Burton will pilot chassis No. 243 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) NASCAR Cup Series stable, a brand new Impala SS for the 2008 season.
Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick will pilot Chassis No. 238 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. Built new for the 2008 season, this is the same Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet Impala SS that Harvick drove to a seventh-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway and an eighth-place finish at Auto Club Speedway of Southern California.
Greg Biffle
Chassis: RK-76 Last outing: Brand New Car
Denny Hamlin
Texas Motor Speedway Chassis – 189 & 204: Texas will be the second race of the season for chassis 189. The car made its debut at Atlanta where Hamlin qualified 22nd and finished 15th. Chassis 204 will also be on the truck this weekend. It finished ninth at California in February.
Kyle Busch
Chassis No. 193:
The Interstate Batteries team will bring the same chassis to Texas Motor Speedway that Kyle Busch drove to victory earlier this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Chassis No. 193 led six times for a race-high 173 laps at Atlanta to bring home the first victory for the No. 18 team since November 2003 when Bobby Labonte captured the season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Tony Stewart
Chassis No. 203:
This chassis made its debut at the series’ second race of the season at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. It enjoyed a solid outing, qualifying sixth and finishing seventh. Prior to Fontana, Chassis No. 203 had never turned a wheel on the race track. It had, however, been tested numerous times in the wind tunnel.
Dale Earnhardt Jr
Crew chief Tony Eury Jr. and the No. 88 engineers chose Chassis No. 88-488. This is the same National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet that Earnhardt used to qualify eighth and finish second at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month
Clint Bowyer
Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 237 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) stable. Built new for 2008, this is the same No. 07 Chevrolet Impala SS Bowyer raced to a 19th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway of Southern California in February and to a sixth-place finish last month at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Matt Kenseth
Chassis: RK-550; raced Fontana in February of this year. Started fourth* and finished fifth
Ryan Newman
PRS-558: The No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger serving as the primary race car at Texas is one of Penske Racing’s second generation COT cars. It has never been raced. Crew chief Roy McCauley said that more of the new cars will be worked into the rotation in the coming weeks.
PRS-552: Another brand new car will serve as the back-up No. 12 Alltel Dodge at Texas
Juan Pablo Montoya
No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge (NSCS): Chassis #744. Montoya ran this chassis at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after wrecking his primary car. Crew Chief Donnie Wingo and the team were able to unload the car in time for Montoya to get some practice time and finish the race in the 19th position. Although it has been rebuilt for the 2008 season, this chassis also raced twice last season at Richmond and Phoenix
Jimmie Johnson
Team Lowe’s Racing will use chassis No. 465 as its primary car in Sunday’s 334-lap, 501-mile event at Texas Motor Speedway. In its only other showing, Johnson drove the chassis to a second-place finish at California Speedway in February. The backup car, chassis No. 433, was last used at the March Bristol event
