Texas @ Texas Tech

It is easy to say "Oh just a bunch of students camping out, big deal".........the players/coaches see that shit all week and get hyped like crazy.

BTW....this line was -6 down the board this afternoon and now is -4?? WTF? I was hoping to get TT +7

None on Tech's side. I think the drop in the line is just reflecting all the ESPN "experts" telling people that an upset is possible. Great opportunity for UT backers...

No hype. Alot of people are playing the banged up/long-stretch/road-fav/let-down spot/huge home game angle.

The whole question is what TT team shows up. Honestly, besides last week, they have not looked all that great. Good, but not great. And Texas had its' worst week to date last week.

I think Texas wins and wins by a TD or so in this game. I jumped on the over but may dump off of it. 76' is alot of points and has only been exceeded once in the last 5 years (last year).

i bought a full point on tech when it came out to +7 and put a nice chunk on it. was waiting for it to go up but did that early for exactly this reason

fucked up line. im about to ML em

I liked tech at 7...you got a great number...

now, not so sure.

will more than likely be an action play on someone though...not a big one by any means.

One thing that has been overlooked in this thread is the TT offensive line. This unit has been absolutely dominant this year. They haven't gotten the chance to go up against athletes like they will see on Saturday, but they have given Harrell all day to throw the ball. In comparison to OU which I believe that the O-line for tech is a little bit better, outside of Texas, Bradford has been sacked 3 times on 231 attempts. The Texas d-line had 3 sacks in dallas. Harrell has only been sacked 3 times in 360 attempts.

If the Longhorn front 7 can't get to Harrell he will own the youthful UT secondary.

they average around 330 pounds or so if i am not mistaken. wow that is big.

Whatever happens, Colt still gets to go home to his girlfriend (on the left)....hell, maybe if he wins he gets to go home to both of them???

For those who are into these sorts of stats:
(saw this on our Rivals site)
"Historically, undefeated teams on the road after game 7 are 12-31 against the spread."

If you think about it, the line movement isn't really a big deal IMO. Sportsbook had Tech -3 in their GOY section before the season started. Leaving for Lubbock in less than 24 hours

Youre riding a +7? Any investor would bet the Longhorns now at 4 and hope for a winning middle!

Once again, dumb line. Has Tech played anyone this year? Seriously. Have they played anyone with a pulse? Anyone that doesn't give up 38 to south florida?

Texas has beat 3 legit top 10 teams and 2 top 5 teams. They've got the best defensive line they've had in the Mack Brown era. The Dline is tailored to face a spread with an ability to have 4 pass rushing dlinemen in the game at any point in time. Two deep across the board.

Also, they've got Will Muschamp who is intimately familiar with Leach's spread offense. He was at Valdosta State around the same time as Leach and Hal Mumme. He knows the system inside and out. He's been through the fire against a good Mizzou team. He knows Leach. Leach doesn't know him. Leach would give his left nut to coach against Gene Chizik or Duane akina this year. Sorry Captain hook, no soup for you.

Oh, and Graham Harrell hates to get hit. Absolutely can't stand it. Up until this Saturday night, he thinks he's been playing flag football. He'll get popped this weekend. Take it to the bank. And he'll bitch and complain like the pansy that he is, just like he did last week vs. the KU team with a front seven full of JAGS. Texas rolls folks.

This is an excellent point that I did not know.

My main reluctance in betting Texas is how tired and banged up they must be after their run and how fresh TT must be after playing....nobody.

If Texas is fresh, they should dominate. TT needed OT to put away Nebraska and I think that team is much more representative of TT than the one we saw against KU.

Also, as Roy Miller said this week, Texas ain't Kansas.

This is a really great thread.

Most of the Texas love in this thread is coming from Texas fans though; I'm not sure how you can be so convinced that Texas is such a sure thing SU. This is without a doubt the best Tech team during Leach's tenure and he's beaten UT before. I'm not betting this game but to think UT is a lock here is to see it thru burnt orange glasses if you ask me. I'd say you ignoring some obvious factors for the other side.

Not a lock. Just very confident in the outcome.

I agree...but I'll take the team with a mobile QB, and a better rushing attack. If the Longhorns can control the clock, they should be able to limit the production of Harrel and Co.

That's the key. Running the ball.

You should be aware that after TT has averaged less than 100 ypg rushing, they are now running 30 running plays a game and averaging 150 ypg.

Texas still rushes more but will need to have a better rushing performance than they did against Okie Lite. Okie Lite shut us down.

I'm starting to think this game will be very much like the 2006 game: 35-31.

Well ladies and gentlemen, it has been a fun week of discussing and dissecting this game. Thanks for all the posts & feedback. My flight leaves in about 2 hours. Should be a great game and only 1 team leaves undefeated.

Texas 38
Texas Tech 42

Enjoy yourself, YNN, it's definitely the game of the weekend. Think the outcome is definitely in doubt coming down the stretch...
