At first look I like CWS (only a lean), LAA (very probable play), MIN (very probable play), BOS (very probable play), COL (probable play) and maybe PIT (possible play).

I'm watching the Mets game and the Cards look really clueless. This is a troubled ballclub here. Lohse has a .361 BAA against the Mets, Santana goes tomorrow.

I'll bite on the RL I think, regardless of how this one finishes, even though I would like the Mets to win it, after racing back from 0:4 to take a 5:4 lead.

RL pays 2.30, good enough for me. The Mets are the best team in the NL right now, very well coached by Manuel and using both power and speed superbly.

Until that ends I am on the Met train when the chance is good and tomorrow is a good chance I think.

Lohse day ERA 4.57 as compared to 3.35 night ERA.

Santana will roll tomorrow, this team is getting dominated by Brandon Knight as we speak.

One more thing, this is the first time this season the Mets have rallied from a 4:0 deficit to retake the lead. I will not be as lazy tomorrow and check NYM record under Manuel to back my claims about the best NL team right now.

As I wrote that the Cards started playing great, hitting everything.

I'll think about this a bit.

the Cardinals are the Angels of the NL, Satyr. They can look like shit for 6 innings (as the Angels did last Sunday night), then they'll bust out multiple extra base hits and you wonder what the fuck happened.

for the price i dont see how you cant throw some money on the marlins again... marlins generally do well against marquis and have just been shit with risp... that being said the over looks good but that will depened on tomorrows weather.

Probably playing Fogg

just for the information.

Jul 26 : Fogg, who was struck in the face with a line drive earlier in the week, felt fine after a bullpen session on Friday, and he will start on Sunday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Jul 24 : Fogg will not make his scheduled start on Friday after needing 30 stitches in his face, but he will not be placed on the disabled list, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Jul 23 : Fogg was struck in the face with a line drive during batting practice on Tuesday, and he needed 30 stitches to close the wound. However he is still slated to start on Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

A study in extremes, the Mets last 33 games of almost all-or-nothing offense in the normal 9 regulation inns -

7, 1, 3, 2, 0, 8, 15, 0, 2, 3, 1, 7, 7, 11, 2, 9, 2, 10, 7, 5, 7, 2, 3, 7, 10, 2, 2, 7, 6, 6, 3, 6 & 8 run totals.

15 totals of 0-3 runs.
_1 total of 4-5 runs.
17 totals of 6+ runs.

Mariners +156
Toronto vs LHP only 3,5 runs/game (one of the worst). 10-17 against them. And Washburn looks solid at the moment. Last 3 starts ERA 3,2, Whip 1,22. On other side Marcum last 3 starts ERA 5,6. I'll take this one.

Red Sox RL +126
PONSON is 3-11 when starting against BOSTON with an ERA of 6.61 and a WHIP of 1.749
Lester last start vs Yankees 9 IP, no runs allowed.

Phillies RL +149
Its time for first good pitching from Blanton with new club. Braves still without Chipper. And only Phillies hit Campillo hard. CAMPILLO is 0-1 when starting against PHILADELPHIA with an ERA of 6.97 and a WHIP of 1.936.His team's record is 0-2 (-2.7 units) in these starts. Both games RL wins for Phillies.

Angels -139
(2 Units)
I stayed away yesterday from this game, but I am back today with Angels. They are team right now to follow. They are 19-5 vs LHP. as a road favorite of (-125 to -150) 9-2
SANTANA is 1-1 when starting against BALTIMORE with an ERA of 3.86 and a WHIP of 1.029

Another study in extremes, Baltimore's last 27 games of almost all-or-nothing offense -

11, 2, 9, 2, 5, 7, 5, 7, 10, 3, 10, 6, 8, 5, 7, 1, 1, 5, 7, 11, 1, 8, 8, 1, 1, 5 & 6 run totals.

_7 totals of 0-2 runs.
_1 total of 3-4 runs.
19 totals of 5+ runs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore has gone 51 games without posting consecutive Under results. They are 33-14-4 to Over during this period, and are 12-0-2 to Over off their last 14 Under results.

ESPN TV games have been infused with Fav results recently, especially games with home favs.

The Fav is -
10-1 SU last 11 games,
14-4 SU last 18 games,
22-7 SU last 29 games

Home Favs are -
10-1 SU last 10 games,
14-3 SU last 16 games,
21-5 SU last 26 games

A 76%-to-91% Fav hit rate is not normal. One would expect that the Dog correction which started with Milwaukee beating Saint Louis to not stop with solely that result.

The coming games on ESPN's schedule
(pitching match-ups where possible based on normal rest in brackets)

NY Yankees @Boston - Ponson vs Lester
LA Angels @Boston (Weaver vs Dice-K)
Chicago Cubs @Milwaukee (Dempster vs Parra)
Philadelphia @Saint Louis (Moyer vs Wellemeyer)
Houston @Chicago Cubs
NY Yankees @Texas
Saint Louis @Chicago Cubs

On the road Colorado is 16-36. In the day Colorado 10-20. I was curious how many day road wins they had so I went thru their road wins. 2. Both by Cook. No idea how many of the 36 road losses were in the day.
This series started with Cook vs Volquez. This year Cook is 7-4 on the road and this was number 7. Not a surprise for a guy who is 13-7 last 20. He is really good and can win anywhere. Not really an upset. Today the Reds got stuck with Homer a small child who should not be pitching. He quickly buried them and after he left so did the scoring. Fogg is 13-7 last 20 at home. He is 7-3 last 10 and 3-1 for the Reds. A Colorado team playing in the day on the road sans Cook is really not supposed to be a favorite. Fogg stats are odd. The only days rest where he has been a big winner (10-5) is on 6 or more. That is the situation today. Has a high era but is still 10-5 so I suppose when he does lose he gets clobbered. Based on days of the Week Colorado is 2-6 with 2 wins by Cook vs very soft opposition. The Reds are 5-2.
Who wins? Flip a coin. I thought the spread should have been Reds minus 15 cents but just as they had stupid lines in the first 2 games, they now have another. But Colorado is not a joke. They have won 8 of their last 9 games and are 13-7 last so to the Reds 11-9. They also are about too face Pitt, the team they crushed in a 4 game sweep. Not sure what it means but it does intrique me
Fogg has a high day era most years. Also a lot of friends in Colorado. Day decisions though he is 20-22 so to some extent he can control it. Would probably not be a good deal to play him on the road in the day. I am betting 1 unit. I am sure there are stronger plays but I think i am on the right side here

isn't there a crazy stat for baltimore and sunday games? they haven't won their last 15?

Baltimore has won only once this season playing on Sunday and that was the first week in April.
<o>:p</o>
BAL – 13-38 in their last 51 Sun games.<o>:p</o>
BAL - 20-57 in their last 77 Sun. games.<o>:p
BAL - 1-15 in last 16

got this from cisco!

Oakland's last 2 games have been Over results. Oakland has not registered 3 straight Over results this season. They are 7-0-1 to Under off their previous 8 instances of consecutive Over results.

BC : Darling behind the dish in oakland, 15 of 21 games he has called have gone OVER. Also Texas hitters have owned A's pitching all year & A's pitchers feeling the pressure of constant lack of offense

Today's road get-away day records...

TB 5-10
LAA 10-6 (combined w/ Balty terrible sundays)
CWS 7-9
NYY 9-6
SEA 6-10
MIN 4-12
TEX 8-10

SD 2-14
FLA 7-9
ATL 5-12
STL 6-10
COL 4-12
HOU 7-10
ARZ 6-10 (2-9 L11)
WAS 6-11

I'm not advocating Under, I'm simply laying out Oakland's awful stat for Over backers.

Giants ML

Yankees ML

Yankees going for the sweep, hitting the ball way better than the Sox in this series. Old Unit favored on the road is silly, I don't care that I have to back Zito.

Zito is 2-0 in 3 starts in July, with a 3.50 era & an opp ba of .243.

Randy's last 5 road starts? 32ip, 36hits, 21er & 11 walks. Nobody wants to play on SF, but this is the spot IMO.

I also think the Mariners could be live, but they just find ways to lose so I'm sticking with these two plays.

BC : I hear you loud & clear, imo a fade of the A's is in order for the rest of the season. The A's can not hit at all & the pitching staff knows that if they do not hold the other team to 2-3 runs they will likely lose & imo this spells disaster, not to mention trading Harden & Blanton. I am fading the A's the rest of the way.

First waiting on line ups and then Detroit first 5 if everyone is playing. Have no intention of dealing with TD

Only game I really like is Anaheim. Some of the dogs seem undervalued, but that doesn't mean that I think they are going to win, so I'm staying away.

I think DBacks win today. SF poor vs. LHP and not great at home either.

Toronto under probably gets there today. playing game and first 5 under. Tampa 7-2 vs Toronto this year and guess who they play tomorrow.
Weak Toronto line up. Earlier this year I played Baltimore in this sort of situation to lose in the 9th on a closer. Still expect at some point for Toronto to try and win this game but first 5---think they wait till later to try so playing Seattle ml and plus .5

Going to try Atlanta first 5 in a pure Blanton fade. I really think Joe Blanton is a terrible pitcher. OK, perhaps not terrible, but I don't think he's better than Jorge Campillo (or Adam Eaton, for that matter).

I also got sucked into the high ML on the Brewers. Brewers crush LHP and Wolf isn't in the friendly confines of Kibbles and Bits Park anymore...
