If V. Tech lost I would literally be floored.

In the last 12 seasons, they have lost once in a season opener, and that one was to USC.

They lost a good bit of their team, but I really dont see it. This could be a close game, but I would honestly be very suprised if V. Tech lost their season opener...even if iti s in Charlotte.

then again im no pro at this, so I might just be full of it.

Fixed it for you VK but it pained me to make those last 3 W's

Actually just examining where we all think these games are at. Grouped them by point spread ranges. If for some reason one team consistently appears on one of the two shocked lists the same way it may mean they have more or less value than similarly lined games.

Could be used for moneylines. It's not a tool per se , but just want to see where all the talented cappers feel these games end straight up. One thing it does do is put a game in proper perspective. For instance , look at group 6 ...

unlv -12
minnesota -9.5
s carolina -11.5
virginia tech -10

Similarly lined games and yet minnesota is running away as the favorite that most would feel the least shocked about if they lost straight up. Granted they are also the smallest favorite of the group and cross the number "10".

BUT look at results so far from group 1 !!!

so far atleast most would be most shocked by a michigan loss ...and not a single person picked them as the most shocked to see win. their line is tied for the highest , so some of that is reflected but you get an idea of where i am going. This is a bit of a trickier comparison since the 3 is such a huge number.

miami oh -2.5
oregon st -4
rice -3
michigan -4
buffalo -3

other groups seem to be more spread out in relation to expectations.

It is just a quick glance at CTG expectation of similarly lined football games.
