*Kind of a strange series with the lower scoring given the accelerated pace of the games, but with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum finally breaking out in game three, hoping the momentum carries over to start the 1H tonight (might have been intrigued by the full game over if not for the H2H this season being 1-6 O/U).

*Of the 11 games played between the Hawks and Cavaliers the past two seasons (regular season and playoffs), nine of eleven hit 200 or more, with all six at Quicken hitting 200 and more. Based on Cleveland's atrocious defense against the not so great Detroit offense, hard to believe this one doesn't follow the script as well...

Think youre on the right track there Hugh. My numbers put the total at 204.5 but I'm staying away as it is game 1.

*The full time stats don't seem to be panning out, so let's see if the 2H stats do: 8 of the 11 2H's last season went 103 or more, including 5 of 6 at the Q. More than enough pace in this one to still get the full game, especially if Millsap, Horford and Love start contributing...

*Not sure what it is I like about the Raptors so much this afternoon, but this series has been a toss up to this point, so might as well take the extra points (honestly don't think this line should be much more than 3.5/4), as well as take a rare shot at the ML.

And a bonus pick as I'm heading to the game later on (plus, I don't post in the soccer forum anymore, so this seems as good a place as any...)

*Won't totally surprise me if I get smoked on this one, but law of averages dictates the Cavaliers can't possibly keep up with this insane 3 point shooting: a team that shot 37.2% from beyond the arc during the regular season against a team that defended the 3 at a 34.3% clip, yet somehow they've managed to shoot a whopping 53.0% during the first three games of this series?!? I mean, who knows, maybe this is just one of those stretches for Cleveland where everything drops (the fact that Channing Frye, of all people, is playing like he's back at Arizona says it all...), but the strange part is the Hawks actually managed to hold them to 35.4% during the three regular season matchups, so it's sort of like WTF? If it goes over, it goes over - not much I can do about that, but I have to think the Hawks try to slow it down and mix it up a little with their season on the line (hoping Jeff Teague's antics at the end of game three sets the tone for this one).

*Think the drop off from Whiteside to Stoudemire/McRoberts is a hell of a lot greater than Valunciunas to Biyombo. Plus, as evidenced by the steam on the total (although I'm sure FraudTime will still manage to post the best possible line, like he always does...), everyone's expecting small ball tonight, so the lack of rim protection without Whiteside should prove to be a difference maker tonight.

smileys-beer-129300.gif

Agree with that Hugh, biyombo can block some shots, play some defense. The heat dudes can't

Hey Hugh why do you think Toronto puts up alotta points tonight? Are you afraid of a blowout?

Agree with that Hugh, biyombo can block some shots, play some defense. The heat dudes can't
Obviously, Valanciunas has a bigger role in the offense, but now that Lowry's got some confidence back, Biyombo can just concentrate on getting rebounds (which shouldn't be a problem against the likes of Josh McRoberts or Amare).

Hey Hugh why do you think Toronto puts up alotta points tonight? Are you afraid of a blowout?
Well, I wouldn't really call 94 "alotta" points although, admittedly, they've barely covered that in the 3 games, and needed OT in two of them. Just with the steam on the total, it's obvious people are expecting a faster paced game without the two big men in there, and I would tend to agree. Also, in the 10 H2H games since the start of last season, Toronto's scored 94 or more in 9 out of 10 against the Heat, so the percentages kind of dictate it's worth playing (well, as far I'm concerned, that is).

Good luck.

San Antonio Spurs Over 47 for 1st Half -116

*The year was 2012: "The Avengers" ruled the box office, a half dozen people discovered the internet behemoth known as ProBoards, and a brand new poster was set to confound the CTG NBA Forum with his difficult to read font and annoying music videos. It was also the last time San Antonio went down to Oklahoma City trailing in a series 3-2 and the Spurs responded by racing out to a commanding 63-48 lead at the half (of course, I awoke the next morning only to find that my San Antonio bet had totally crumbled apart in the 2H, but this isn't about me...)

Think we see the best the Spurs have to offer to start the game (at least), so 47+ shouldn't be that tall of an order against the subpar defense the Thunder has to offer.

*Raptors/Heat pretty much derailed what had been a half decent post season to this point... Anyways, Oklahoma City and Golden State have played 10 regular season games over the past three seasons, with an average 1H score of 119.0 (OKC 58.8, GSW 60.2), and the 5 at Oracle averaging 123.6 (OKC 58.0, GSW 65.6), so this seems like the logical way to go. And just as an FYI, the 1H was the higher scoring half in 8 of the 10 games (119.0 1H vs. 105.4 2H), so the fate of the game total's probably going to hinge on what happens to start the game.

*Seems like it's just about time to call this a wrap... Anyways, been a while since Toronto faced a capable offense (what some might describe as stellar defense should more aptly be described as incompetent offense on the part of the Pacers and the Heat), so shouldn't be an issue for the Cavs to put up some points to start this one.

*Hasn't been a whole lot of pace to either of the first two games - just above average shooting on the part of the Cavs and an inordinate number of free throw attempts (also on the part of the Cavs - funny how that happens...) Expecting it to slow down even further as the Raptors try to control the flow on their home court, something they've done all year long at the ACC as evidenced by their pace rankings during both the regular season and playoffs (admittedly, it helps when you have willing dance partners, but I digress...)
