how can they put this game at 3:30 pm EDT instead of the 8 pm primetime slot?

it is likely because they do not believe the East Coast will care and the ratings will stink.

imo this game (on paper) deserves the primetime slot.

TV dynamics are much different now in many regards.

You have the BIG on 4 different networks, for instance.

These networks have a certain pecking order for selecting games each week.

Remember in 2019 when LSU and Alabama was set at 3:30? That was a game of the decade. Well, CBS had already selected their primetime slot for the season.

I don't know exactly who/what/when/where this week but I wouldn't be surprised if this was their only choice other than a 10pm start.
