Yeah, unfortunately it looks like I'm going to get screwed in the Prague match (1-1 after 21 minutes, and still waiting for goal number 3...)Because actually you earned the right to do just about anything you want. It Also make's you seem worldly

Toronto/Orlando W/Nicola out you do lose a lot but the number has stay the same -6 but the Total has steamed 5.5pts downward to 196.5 to me this is an overreation and what I like about this game is Orlando in this early part of the season has avg over 90 shots they make there free throws althought they're more of an outside stooting team but Toronto will take care of gonig to the line. Both 5-0 and both coming to play.

Hugh, is there a correlation to how often you play a first half total paired with a game total or second half total? Just curious

Hey JB. To be honest, at this point in the season, with so little statistical data to draw from, and a game or two being able to skew averages, it's pretty much just a bit of randomness. As the season goes along, stats will start to play a bigger factor (a team averaging 53.7 points in the 1H is a little more statistically significant after 10 or 15 games, than after just 3 or 4), as will trends (OKC had a stretch last season where they scored 60+ in the 1H something like 5 games in a row) and situational spots (B2B's, 3 in 4). Sometimes it's as simple as me just wanting to place as many bets as possible, which holding too many FT bets will preclude me from doing. And a lot of the time it's pretty much just me saying to myself "If I can't win the 1H, then odds are I'm not winning the full game, so might as well".
As for tonight, I'd say about 20% statistical, and 80% situational: we're only 4 days removed from the Sixers jumping out to a big HT lead at home, and the Cavs having to bust ass in the 2H to get back into it. Pretty sure no one on the Cavs sideline wants to see a repeat of that, nor do any of the players (ie. LBJ and Love) want to have to expend more energy than they need to tonight, so expecting them to want to take care of business early shouldn't be an unrealistic expectation. Also have a young Sixers team (and, for that matter, a bad Sixers team) on the road in a hostile environment, players who played a bit over their heads in the first game (ie. Okafor), and the spectre of players sitting in the 4th if the game gets out of hand, leaving the all too real possibility of the backdoor open. Not saying the Sixers can't do it again, but I'd like to think the Cavs come out with a bit more intensity in this one.

*5Dimes has the time stamp wrong as that game starts at 7:00 PM EST. In any event, looking for the Thunder to try and jump out to a fast lead here to try and counteract the mini slump they've been in. Doesn't hurt that it's against a team they've had little trouble scoring on out of the gate the past little while (in the four games last season, OKC put up 70, 64, 48 and 54 against the Suns in the 1H), and a defense that I find to be a little suspect to begin with.
If the lines hold, should also have 2H overs in New York and Miami later on (all 'systems' go : )

*5Dimes has the time stamp wrong as that game starts at 7:00 PM EST. In any event, looking for the Thunder to try and jump out to a fast lead here to try and counteract the mini slump they've been in. Doesn't hurt that it's against a team they've had little trouble scoring on out of the gate the past little while (in the four games last season, OKC put up 70, 64, 48 and 54 against the Suns in the 1H), and a defense that I find to be a little suspect to begin with.
If the lines hold, should also have 2H overs in New York and Miami later on (all 'systems' go : )

Number down to 201.5 and the first half up to 98.5 I know before checking your using a 5 number I've been using a 3 which in this case I would look at the present # and have been doing ok. The Utah/Cleve is right where you want it Line open 185 up to 187 and 1st Half 88.5 man that's a low first have to take a look. Thanks for the Intel on the 2nd half will be watching. Good Luck hugh

Thanks Paulie - I just figured if I set it at '5' it would return fewer games and (hopefully) yield more statistically significant data. Super simplistic, I know, but what can you do... And the 2H thing seems more like coincidence than anything else (I was wondering how it related to 1H/FT numbers, and it just sort of my caught my eye that the 2H over was hitting at an insane rate). Like you said in the discussion thread though, variance is inevitable, so we'll see what happens...

Don't quote me on this, but pretty sure Steve Clifford likes to slow down the pace in B2B's (the splits at basketball reference seem to support this notion, although the O/U numbers are kind of even, so hard to say for sure) and, with the exception of last night, the Knicks offense has been scuffling (as emkee would say) this month, so I'd be surprised if they put up much tonight. Plus the Hornets did a solid job of handling the Knicks last season (96, 102, 82, 71. And the 102 required a 33 point 4th quarter, so...) As for the two unders, that falls under the FT 'system' I've been tracking (4-9-1 O/U this season after the Jazz/Cavaliers debacle last night), so might as well just keep riding it until it bottoms out.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good...
