Notre Dame vs. Georgia Discussion Thread

Of course Irish gotta find way to score. I don’t get Leonard, he was super willing runner early but lately he had passed lots of lanes and tried to throw. Stick to what you do best Bra. When you see lane take off!!

First and foremost, ND deserved this win.

Second, Kirby was AWFUL. Bobo too.

Third, trenches is so important. Both DLs were as good as advertised. The ND o-line started suspect but performed better once the 3rd drive featured Riley runs. The UGA o-line was not good.

So, game came down to ..

ND DL vs UGA OL

And, Freeman thoroughly out coached Kirby. Not even close.

Add in a ST score and no turnovers - Irish advance.

I was wrong. Congrats to ND.

Not sure they were the better team. Seemed like they did nothing on offense.

UGA did everything possible to lose that game but it is what it is. 2 turnovers, jumping offsides on a 4th down, bad penalties, drops...

The uga all team was just missing that spark all season. ND was a lot more physical than I expected. The orange is going to be a boring watch. Congrats to Ohio st on winning the natty.

That couple minutes at the end of the half were bizarre and basically scrambled any kind sense anyone could make of the game

It just went the way of those couple minutes

Hard to take much from the game other than that

SEC just doesn't have the heayweights this year. No problem, I'm sure they'll figure it out.

They didn't need to on offense. They had the needed points. Play smart football, run clock and make the other team play catch-up.

I know it looked boring but they knew that the opposition from was excellent. They made the plays they needed to.

ND wins that 6 out of 10 imo

I wish it was a better game after halftime but a good defense like that gets a lead you have to be perfect. .

All that aside ...

What's the narrative about Kirby after the game? He was out coached. He made several bad decisions.

The one before half was something a first year coach makes.

Appreciate the Georgia thoughts as always.

I'm certainly no Notre Dame fan

Think the big thing for me is how a good dude, players' coach would handle himself in this situation

Freeman was incredible. Always seemed calm even when a call or two might go against him

If nothing else, I came away from that thinking this guy's got the game under control as opposed to letting it control him

Ditto.

We are bred to hate ND.

I can't hate on Freeman.

Cool customer. Today proved a lot for me, on him. That was a piece of the puzzle I needed to see.

Now watch him lose to Frames;)

Freeman is definitely a players coach.

We need changes in Athens. OL, WR and OC need to go. We also missed on pretty much every portal guy. I think Kirby is gonna have a hard time in the NIL era getting on players as they will just pack up and leave.

Was impressed with how physical ND was. UGAs playcalling was bad. Not sure what the game plan was. No adjustments. Countless mistakes and a lack of focus. Just not a good team, still probably better than what ND showed last night but it doesn't matter as the Irish made plays in the 4th to keep the ball away.

The sack fumble and the fumble early in the game were killer. Team just isn't good enough or explosive enough to give the other team free points.

Can't have excuses when you lose. This was never in doubt.
Never in doubt is a bit of stretch. Uga had momentum and was driving early and just fumbled in the red zone. It killed everything. ND looked overwhelmed to begin the game. Obviously things changed and they made adjustments, mainly having Leonard run the ball, but to act like ND had the game under control, especially in the first half was a bit much.

Nice win though!

That's what ND does bro. They create turnovers. Every game they've won they've created a turnover. Georgia liked to give the ball away a lot this year. They had over 20 turnovers this year.

Physical teams do that. Michigan was the same way last year. It's just who you are at this point in year. And I've learned the last 5 or so years you have to cap turnovers late in year. That's what they do.

I will say the first quarter was a toss up. But the second quarter on, ND dominated. They took the slants and crossing routes away from Stockton and Georgia couldn't or didn't adjust offensively and ND run game wore them down as the game went on.

Yea, he fell early on in the week. Tough trip for Kirby. I cant imagine he coaches more than a couple more years. He has aged a lot.
