Pressure is on the Cards today in Game 1.
If Sanchez holds up and the Nats win, they can afford to make the decision to throw Corbin in Game 2 since he’s only thrown what amounts to 2 bullpen sessions since Game 1 of the NLDS. You face Corbin in Game 2 who’s better than any Cards pitcher, and then you face the prospect of rested Scherzer and Strasburg at home in Games 3 and 4.
I kinda think tonight is a must win for the Cards - if they lose this could turn into a sweep. Their lineup isn’t better, they’re starting pitching is worlds apart from the Nats, and the bullpens seem to matter a lot less with how Davey is using guys.
I generally expect the Nats to win this series with ease, and wouldn’t be too stunned if this were a sweep.
