Lockout City

pretty much right after the NHLPA ratifies the deal electronically which should be finished saturday it will be, the matrixes are done, and it will all be within conference play.

the 2 sides are coming up with a memorandum of understanding so they can finalize all the verbiage of the CBA and complete it right now.

ya they have it ready just waiting on the PA vote, plenty of the opening night games have all ready been leaked

Ducks @ Canucks
CBJ @ Nashville
Toronto @ Montreal
Ottawa @ Winnipeg
Detroit @ St. Louis
Hawks @ Kings
Wild @ Avs

Can't believe teams are actually wiling to give something up for Bobby Lu, let alone my beloved Flyers. How many more times does he have to prove he's a loser when the games count for teams to realize that he's not as good as his reg season stats make him look?

he's 1000x better than Bryz

top goalies in the league right now

Henrik, Schnieds, Quick top 3

after that it's a group that includes Luongo, Rinne, Rask, Price, Kipper

not including these guys because they play in ultra defensive systems, haven't been consistent over time, and could easily regress (Halak, Elliot, Smith)

any of the rumored teams interested goes up a level with Luongo

Leafs - playoffs guaranteed
Flyers - legit contender (probably right with the Penguins/Rangers in the East)
Florida - playoffs
Chicago - legit contender
Edmonton - playoffs guaranteed

32 playoff wins

5 playoff shutouts (including 3 in the SCF)

save from the finals run he is 17-19 and only got 2 starts last year... well documented his big game issues, 7-11 in ellimination games, 2.88 GAA and .908 %

he is so hot and cold in those games its crazy (3 so in SCF then allowing 19 in the 4 losses ... )

somebody will overpay for his regular season body of work but it will be same old same old head case in playoffs

I already know you're going to come at me with a multitude of stats *LOL*, but I think I'd just as soon have Ryan Miller or Nik Backstrom over Cory Schneider...

Ryan Miller is the definition of an average goalie

1 season in 9 years with a goals against below 2.53

Nik Backstrom hasn't been any good since Lemaire and his trap left Minnesota

I wouldn't have either in the top 15

and it's the same reason why I wouldn't include the Halak, Elliot, Smith in the top 10 group either because goalies under coaches like Tippet, Hitchcock, Lemaire always have ridiculous stats because the team plays so defensive

stop gtrying to sell it so you get more for him and feel OK robbing a GM :dancing:

He has been playing under the highest scoring team in the league over the last 3 years, to do that you have to take chances

if they played a trap like the Kings did last year (speaking of the Kings, I hope the reason they scheduled the Blackhawks@Kings on opening night is so Duncan Keith can be given the full credit he deserves for helping the Kings win the cup, he should at least get his name on it) his stats would be great

the years the Canucks were defensive he had a 2.28 to 2.34 GAA over 3 years

when the offense picked up his goals agents went up, that includes the playoffs. His first year in the playoffs he had a 1.77 GAA over 12 games.

At worst he's the 6th best goalie in the league

I almost put Howard in the top 10, if he has another good year I would, but right now outside looking in

Niemi to me is 12-16 range, just above average

What about Craig Anderson?

:hello:

Seriously though, the Sens should be a solid over bet this season with our suspect defense.

Luongo is the 6th best reg season goalie in the league, and the 28th best playoff goalie

Yea, but your goaltending situation isn't as bad as people think either

CBC wanted Vancouver over a BOA on the late game so it's Oilers/Canucks now

Flames not playing till the sunday, dono about the Ducks

BOA? I'm guessing that's not Bank of America.

21. Let's play some cap circumvention. Hockey Night In Canada producer Brian Spear came up with a couple of ideas, so I ran them past NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly. First, NBA-style sign-and-trades. Basically, a basketball free agent wants to leave his team for somewhere else, but still wants the extra year you get for staying put. Voila! Original team signs him and trades him. Can this happen in the NHL?
22. Daly's answer: Yes, provided the player was on a team's reserve list as of the most recent trade deadline. Therefore, anyone acquired on that date is ineligible.
23. Second, a player says, "I'll sign a one-year deal with your team as a free agent provided I get eight years next summer." In essence, this guy gets nine years where he should have received seven.
24. Daly's answer: You can do this, but we better not find a paper trail. Google "Joe Smith" and "Timberwolves." NBA commissioner David Stern crushed Minnesota for that one.
