Like Portland in this spot, at Home on a days rest after Chicago playing last night. Portland 9-3 ATS this year (5-1 on 1 days rest). Chicago at 4-6 ATS YTD.

@WojYahooNBA: The NBA has fined Knicks coach Mike Woodson $25,000 for ripping refs in a radio interview.

hate betting on shitty teams but with al jefferson back in lineup,and bkedsoe out i like tge kittys thoughts?

Warriors (8-4) @ Lakers (5-7)

Tip-Off: 7:30pm
Blog Buddy: Silver Screen and Roll
Happy Friday! You may have heard the news that the Warriors just can't beat the Memphis Grizzlies. Well, I'm hear to tell you that the sky is not falling. An OT loss minus Stephen Curry is not the end of the world. The Warriors are not a bad team and they don't need a major shakeup.
The Warriors are a really, really good team.
(Apologies to the folks out there who think this is common sense, but Dub Nation has seemed a little down since Wednesday night.)
Moving up and to the right (for my business friends out there), TGIF! Do you remember this?

Let's do it again in LA on national TV.

[h=3]Tonight's Start 4[/h] Through 12 games here's how our community leaderboard stands:

  4. Bu12n

  10. Saffron

I'm happy to say I'm holding it down in the Top 40 with the 39th spot. My fantasy hoops rust is definitely showing. Anyhow, here's my 4 tonight and why:

  1. Andre Iguodala: What's not to like about 47.8% 3pt shooting and 8.2 apg in the last 5 games?
  2. Klay Thompson: There's no better time for a big road game than in LA with his dad watching.
  3. Marreese Speights: There should be plenty of minutes off the bench with Jermaine O'Neal out.
  4. Kent Bazemore: He should get some good playing time in this BLOWOUT!
[h=4]>> Make your picks in the Golden State of Mind Group on Start Four![/h]

[h=3]Predictions[/h]
  • Stephen Curry plays tonight to the delight of the Hoops States of America.
  • Kobe wishes he played on the Warriors.
  • Warriors by 24.

Interesting remarks. GS has a game tomorrow at home vs Portland. Lakers got smashed away b-b. Now they are at home with rest playing a team that has not been covering many spreads when the Lakers have lost 1 game ATS at home.

Showtime: 7:30 p.m. PT
Plot: The Los Angeles Lakers should be well rested after a four-day layoff following a victory over the Detroit Pistons. Gifts like that from the fine folks who make the schedule need not be questioned. In all fairness, the Lakers opened the season with a heavy schedule and, despite four days of nothing, teams are barely reaching the 12 game mark they've been sitting at all week.
So, in come the Warriors. When the teams last met Golden State absolutely thrashed the Lakers who were on the road in the second half of a back-to-back. It happens.
Thing is, these Warriors are quietly becoming one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. They've minimally regressed on offense from last season, averaging .6 points per 100 possessions less, but have taken a giant leap in defensive efficiency. Their 105.5 defensive rating has dropped to 98.8, holding opponents to 6.7 points per possession less than last season. That's fourth-overall in the NBA, according to Basketball-Reference.
Steph Curry is doing Steph Curry things, Klay Thompson is shooting an astounding 48 percent from behind the arc and Andrew Bogut is healthy. But the story, for now, is how Andre Iguodala is improving the team. It's not rocket science to conclude shedding millions of dollars in dead weight contracts to clear room to sign one of the NBA's most versatile win players is going to immediately improve teams, but this isn't a minor bump for Golden State.
Just take a look at his +/- numbers. The Warriors are +13.2 while he's on the court and -16.7 when he's off, according to the NBA's media-only stats website. That's a 29.9 swing while he's playing, the widest margin on the team. Way to go, Jerry West and company.
Curry missed the Warriors' previous outing on Wednesday -- an 88-81 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies -- due to concussion symptoms. He is officially listed as day-to-day, though the team stated he was only suffering from a headache. No updates on if he will be available for tonight's game but he did participate in non-contact drills on Thursday.
Of course it's worth mentioning the world is now in full-on Kobe watch mode and there's no official word on when "the return" will happen. He recently told media he could see himself playing this month. There are five games left in Novemeber, three of which are away games. You do the math. He's practiced a total of three times with the team since receiving full medical clearance last weekend, participating in five-on-five scrimmages.
Kobe missed practice Thursday with some soreness. No updates past that, but expect an answer on his status a few hours before the game.
Even with a fully rested squad the Warriors are going to be a tough outing for Los Angeles. Bogut is a monster under the rim and will alter shots. Iguodala is an elite defender who will check any Laker who starts to heat up. Klay is generally revered for his shooting, but he's also developing into a pretty good defender himself. Harrison Barnes is available for Golden State now and is yet another wing player to throw at Xavier Henry, Nick Young, Wesley Johnson and Jodie Meeks.
Keep an eye on Jordan Hill, who is going up against one of the best defensive rebounding teams in the league. Hill continues to break into new ground, setting career-high numbers twice this season, and clearly belongs in the starting lineup. He's still raw around the edges on offense, but he's pick-and-rolling his way into a pretty nice contract in all likelihood.
No, really. He's averaging 1.16 points per possession as a roll man, finishing 17 of his 23 attempts on the season, according to Synergy Sports Technology. That's good for sixth-overall in the league and it's clear to anyone watching that he's still pretty tentative when he dives and gathers. More time with the starting lineup, more repetition and more confidence from the coach can go a long way in his continued development.

Per multiple reports (Paul Coro among them), Eric Bledsoe is doubtful for this game after not being able to make it through shoot-around, while Al Jefferson will play and start for Charlotte.

A lot of love around for this play, but i have to take the Pacers -7.5. I just don't see how Boston will compete versus the Pacers. Boston offense has been dreadful, and even though Indiana is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Boston, i think they will focus tonight, maybe with their minds in their 2 losses against Boston last season.

Also like the Bulls later, will wait a bit more before making a play.

[h=2]Bucks At Sixers, 7 p.m. ET[/h] November 22, 2013 · 6:32PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Sixers will be seeking to end a season-worst four-game losing streak, while the Bucks have dropped six in a row, their longest slide since they dropped the final eight games of the 2007-08 season.
  • The Sixers will be without F Thaddeus Young for the second-straight game, for unspecified personal reasons. “We’re going to allow him his space,” coach Brett Brown said, “and let him handle the situation as he feels it best suits him and his family.”
  • The Bucks will be without G Brandon Knight (sore right hamstring) for the fifth-straight game. Luke Ridnour will make his second straight start in his place. G O.J. Mayo will start, despite suffering an ankle injury Wednesday against Portland.
  • The Sixers have allowed their opponents to make more 3-pointers (127) and shoot a better percentage (40.7) than any other team in the NBA. In Milwaukee, they will be facing a team that is fifth in the league in accuracy from the arc (41.3). Brown said the Sixers’ defensive problems stem only in part from a desire to defend the paint. “You can count almost 15 points (a game) on mistakes – just stone cold mistakes, that have nothing to do with defensive strategy or a no-paint philosophy,” he said. “We’ve got to do a better job of guarding our man. As simple as that sounds, a large part of our problem is that.”
  • F Ersan Ilyasova will start at forward for the Bucks, after coming off the bench Wednesday – his first game after missing the previous six with a sore right ankle. “He’s moving around pretty well,” coach Larry Drew said. “We’ve just got to get him into a rhythm.”

[h=2]HAWKS AT PISTONS, 7:30 P.M. ET[/h] November 22, 2013 · 6:22PM
TV: League Pass

  • Atlanta won the first half of this home-and-home series, defeating Detroit in Atlanta 93-85 on Wednesday. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer isn’t concerned about making adjustments for the matchup at The Palace of Auburn Hills. “At this stage of the season, we’re really just trying to focus on what we do,” he said. “Who the opponent is and all those different things, we’re trying to minimize that. We’re just trying to continue to build good habits and improve defensively.”
  • The Hawks, who will go with their usual lineup of DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap, Al Horford, Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague, have no injuries to report but guard Lou Williams did not make the trip. Williams isn’t playing on back-to-back nights in his return from a torn right ACL. He will be available against Boston on Saturday.
  • Guards Chauncey Billups (knee tendinitis) and Will Bynum (sore left hamstring) will each be inactive for the fourth straight time for the Pistons. They will have Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brandon Jennings in the starting five.
  • Detroit ranks last in defensive field-goal percentage at 48.5 percent. “To be 30th, it is surprising,” coach Mo Cheeks said. “We’ve got to get better at closing out the paint and we’ve got to get better at defensive rebounding. Defensive rebounding is a big part of the defense. We get a lot of deflections and steals but it’s not turning into the defense we really want.”

[h=2]SUNS AT BOBCATS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] November 22, 2013 · 6:21PM
TV: League Pass

  • Al Jefferson will be in the starting lineup tonight for the Charlotte Bobcats. The Charlotte center has missed nine of the team’s first 12 games including the last four with an injured right ankle. Coach Steve Clifford said that they would monitor Jefferson’s minutes and effectiveness but that there was no target range for playing. Jefferson, who as an off-season acquisition, is averaging 15.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Jefferson averages more points against the Suns (20.5) than any other NBA opponent.

  • Phoenix will most likely be without Eric Bledsoe (left shin contusion) tonight. Bledsoe, the leading scorer for the Suns, has missed the last two games after sustaining the injury in practice Sunday. According to coach Jeff Hornacek, Bledsoe tried to make a go of it in shootaround but felt the discomfort was too much to play tonight. Goran Dragic has picked up some of the slack during Bledsoe’s absence, including a season-high 31 on Wednesday night against Sacramento.

  • Gerald Green is listed as the replacement starter for Bledsoe tonight. The Suns guard will get his seventh start in 11 because this season due to injuries either to Bledsoe or Dragic. He is averaging 16.9 points over the past nine games and had back-to-back 23 points games earlier this week including a career-best six 3-pointers Wednesday night.

  • The Bobcats are last in the NBA in scoring (89.0 points) and shooting (40.2 field goal percentage) however they are taking care of opponents on the other end. The defense holds opponents to just 92.8 points, which is fourth best in the league and they take care of the ball too, turning the ball over at the third-lowest rate in the NBA (13.4 turnovers).

  • Another area of the game to watch will be in transition. Phoenix likes to get out and run on the break. The Suns are tops in the league with 23.3 fast break points per game, however Charlotte has limited its opponents to an average of only 9.9 points in transition.

[h=2]WIZARDS AT RAPTORS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] November 22, 2013 · 6:16PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Toronto Raptors (5-7) are coming off of a 108-98 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night that moved them into first place in the Atlantic Division for the first time since 2007. Rudy Yag and DeMar DeRozan combined to score 51 points in that contest. Over the last four games, the pair has averaged a combined 52 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
  • The Washington Wizards (4-7) on the other hand, are currently tied with the Orlando Magic for last place in the Southeast Divison. Despite their early season struggles, the team has looked better recently, winning two straight games including a 98-91 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
  • Bradley Beal has been the hot for the Wizards of late. He is averaging 22.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, while shooting 53 percent from 3-point range in his last nine contests.
  • Tonight’s game is the first of four meetings between these two teams. They have split the season series in the last three seasons.
  • “The last two days, it’s been huge. [You’ve got to] run to the chest, touch the chest – we just went through that with Portland. They are two or three steps behind the three-point line, you think you are there, but you are really not. So we have made an emphasis on that. [The Wizards] have some big-time three-point shooters, so we’ve got to get out there to touch and run them off and try and make them score as many tough twos as we can get them to make.” –Raptors head coach Dwane Casey on game planning for the Wizards 3-point shooting.
– Scott Campsall

Last second 3 from Boston pushes first half. Team total cashes. Maybe a little more D Indiana.

Taking portland again. Been riding them during this whole streak but like this spot here. Chicago coming in from denver, rose still working his way back (who knows how effective he'll be tonight in this tough b2b), butler injury hurts them here in terms of depth and I like a lot of the positional matchups for the blazers. Crowd should be rocking tonight...

Did lean Bulls but from memory, teams off a game in Denver have a win rate under 30% in the next game so laid off.

He'd look like a bigger fool if he fired him right now, I think is what you mean. :)
