The Spurs close out their annual Rodeo Trip tonight in Phoenix. This year, the epic trip is nine games long; the Spurs are 7-1 so far.
The Spurs will continue to rest Tony Parker. Swingman Kawhi Leonard is out with a hand injury. Deep reserve Aron Baynes is out with a knee bruise. All the Suns’ regulars are available.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said sixth man Manu Ginobili also may sit out; this is a game-time decision. “He wants to play. We’re going to argue,” Popvich said.
The Spurs are 2-0 vs. the Suns this season. But in their first win, back on Nov. 6 in San Antonio, Suns’ fans got one of their first glimpses of a team that wouldn’t be one of the dregs of the NBA, as predicted. The Suns led 96-95 in the game’s final minute.
The Spurs rank No. 1 in the NBA in bench points (44.5 per game) while the Suns rank No. 6 (36.9).
