For fun discussion purposes -- Your CFP Top 10 for this Tuesday

And that isn't to keep harping on the SEC.

It is like what the ridiculous polls did preseason for B1G having flawed teams like Wisky and Penn State in the top 10 with MSU not too far behind.

I've mentioned this before, but this season more than any others, there just aren't a lot of teams that separate themselves after the top 5-6. SEC gets benefit of the doubt for sure, but I honestly don't know how you decide between LSU/Washington/Penn St/Utah/Florida/WVU/etc etc. A whole lot of teams with 3 or more losses. To me, throw them all in a hat and draw names.

Fair enough with those teams, 100%

But, you know the CFP committee is always gonna have a better chance of pulling a 'LSU' or 'Florida' out of there as opposed to Utah, Wash and WVU

Penn State I'd put with LSU and Florida as well as maybe getting ranked higher if it helps out a narrative.

And @VirginiaCavs ... I know you went to Bama last year but quit advocating for any byes in a proposed different playoff system.

That would give Bama 3 byes each season min, and 4 next season for instance.

i think the anointing of clemson and trevor lawrence is a bit premature. the kid is fun to watch but let's what happens when he gets punched in the mouth in the college football playoff. will he be able to handle it

And that is going to be the interesting aspect.

Clemson has talent everywhere and has. Dabo has done a great job with them. They couldn't beat Bama last year because they did not have a QB capable of that. We still don't know that. Head and Shoulders looks like a great one, but he hasn't been tested yet unfortunately.

yes the the kid looks like a superstar in the making but i need to see what he does against a top tier D in a high pressure game, such as the playoff. these days, a top tier D seems to be anyone not giving up more than 25 a game LOL

So who gets the byes? I'd have a problem with a team like Clemson not having played a significant game other than TAMU months ago getting a bye. Let them get in and play a big dawg and see where they are at.

I use Clemson as an example a lot. It isn't meant to slight them. They have spent a lot of time and 'money' building that program. They are a damn good team but their position in this playoff as a 1 or 2 seed was already put in our heads last January. All they had to do is not mess up, which they haven't.
The idea wasn't "put in your heads". Since Venables arrived for the 2012 season, the top teams in S&P (other than Clemson) have been have been Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, LSU, Auburn, and Florida State.

Clemson has played and beaten all of them in the last 7 years.

1-2 v. Bama
2-0 v. Oklahoma
2-0 v. Ohio State
1-1 v. Georgia
1-0 v. Notre Dame
1-0 v. LSU
3-0 v. Auburn
4-3 v. Florida State

When we won the national championship two years ago, we beat the four teams (Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida State) that had combined to win the prior seven national championships. Why do you need to see Clemson play the "big dawgs" this year when lesser Clemson teams have handled them so consistently in recent years?

Listen, I have been a big fan of Clemson for several years. I may not agree with the paying recruits and shit enormous sums but that is just how it is. It goes unpunished, so be it.

This year, is this year. That is all. I don't care what Clemson did two years ago, last year of the last 7 years.

They have two wins against current top 25 teams.

Those two teams are I believe 18 and 22 in the AP poll (I am not using the CFP poll for any of this).

They have been blowing teams out, but they should be blowing teams out because the fact is they haven't played a good schedule. That isn't all on them, their conference is godawful. It happens.

All I said, is when rankings give a team a predetermined spot, that can skew things a little bit. It happens all the time. This is for CFB and CBB each and every year.

Clemson has won me a lot the last handful of years in the big bowls (OSU game, Bama win... against them last year) so yeah I am a fan. I like how Dabo was given all the time in the world to build and get it right. He would never make it 3-4 years if he was hired in the last few years.

These are legitimate things to discuss, believe it or not. Obviously Clemson is a damn good team but I bet it hurts them a bit in the CFB Playoff having not played a few tougher games. Just my 2 cents.

Perfect World

No rankings at all. No preseason, no playoff etc... Wait until first Monday in December and pick the best 8 teams. Throw em in a playoff....

Go!
