Meant to add this stat above.

I can't think of any year we have seen a stat like this, but I was just looking at my notes from the first five weeks of the year and top 25 teams who are double digit favorites are 51-29 ATS so far.

I went back and looked because a guy at a Reno sports book told me they are getting killed on Saturdays by beginning bettors who are betting parlays and taking all the top teams, no matter how many points they are laying.

Scott van belt is worthless just my opinion

He certainly doesn't take it very seriously and is just off-the-cuff with the picks, but it is good to have it here so long as tahoe decides to include it with the other cappers so we can see how a casual "guesser" does vs the more technical pickers.

Tahoe...I'm an idiot. I thought the picks I had were RJ Bell's picks last week. Doh! They were RJ White's picks.

White is at Sportsline (CBS), here's his bio:

A CBS Sports NFL editor, R.J. twice has cashed huge in the world's most prestigious handicapping tournament, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest. In 2017 he tied for 18th out of 2,748 contestants with a 52-29-4 mark against the spread. In 2015 he tied for 39th out of 1,727 entries with a 51-32-2 record. R.J. consistently crushes the NFL for SportsLine members: All-time he's 265-218-22 on ATS picks, returning $2,335 to $100 players. R.J. has many years of experience analyzing NFL statistics and trends, beginning with Super Bowl XXV.

So, my mistake. RJ Bell is likely just giving out those picks you have.

Here are RJ White's, for this week, fwiw...and his current record...he was Sportslines top NFL picker last year...

YTD: 25-20

Seattle -1.5 LOSS
Indianapolis +10.5
Chicago -5
NY Jets +13.5
Denver +6.5
New Orleans -3

Green Bay/Dallas UNDER 47
Tampa/New Orleans UNDER 47
Minnesota/NY Giants UNDER 43.5
New England/Washington UNDER 42.5

Cowherd's Blazin' 5 for Week 5:

  • Arizona at Cincinnati – Arizona (+3)
  • Tampa Bay at New Orleans – New Orleans (-3)
  • Minnesota at NY Giants – Minnesota (-4.5)
  • Chicago at Oakland – Chicago (-4.5)
  • Green Bay at Dallas – Green Bay (+3.5)

Yes, the "x" means .5 point, a leftover from the days when the boys with lots of vowels in their names controlled sports gambling and old guys who looked like they were down on their luck posted the lines and changes on blackboards with chalk.

Didn't get the picks from Max Meyers this week and couldn't find them anywhere. Looks like he may have been one of the many who got the ax at Sports Illustrated yesterday when new owners fired everyone making more than starting salary.

OU/Kansas and K State/Baylor postponed for a couple of hours because of storms. Bad weather--rain and wind may affect other games as well.

Leaning to K State which now goes at 3:30 eastern time.

Adding Michigan/Iowa over for one unit
