Coaching Carousel Thread

First time he's ever hired an agent too -- Jimmy Sexton.

I think ultimately it's Indy.

Just a gut feel.
Ironically I think I like Indy more than Denver at this point

Obv his history there should play a part, doubt they can match what a couple would pay him but maybe that's not a deal for him

The wildest part is next year would be the strongest UM team of this 3 year run. A surefire top 3 team going into the season.

Now, they'll lose some guys (I think Blake would go pro instead of coming back for instance) and who knows what trash they bring in to coach.

Just a very unfortunate situation but kinda typical.

Curious the realistic pulse there w/how long Saban has left. Current climate has to age coaches incrementally

Not sure if he's the kind that wants to leave it in the right hands or does the whole "job's done, who's next?" approach

I see all the stuff about him maybe wanting to try pros once again, doubt that's worth much but can't imagine he enjoys the portal and NIL stuff
I'd be shocked if Saban went back to the NFL. He's under contract for 8 more years I think, it wouldn't surprise me if he coaches until then. I think it will be very important to him to have a say in who replaces him, one of the many reasons Kiffin will never coach at Alabama. For DC, Saban generally hires coaches that have experience with his system and working for him. A name to watch if the job opens up is Glenn Schumann at UGA. He is co-DC with Muschamp, but went to Alabama and has been on Saban's staff before. I don't think he will hire someone who has to learn the system, and there's no way he's going to hire a DC to bring in a new system. On offense, it's a totally different story. Saban pretty much lets them run it with little oversight, and that's why he has gone for coaches with HC experience the last several hires; so he doesn't have to micromanage as much. The names I've heard tossed out for OC are Dan Mullen, Garrett Riley, and Jeff Lebby. No clue how realistic those names are. I think Mullen would be an intriguing and possibly home run hire

Nothing official, but there's a lot of smoke that Pete Golding (Bama DC) is taking the same job at Ole Miss. I think it is definitely time that we parted ways. May need to hire both new coordinators this offseason
Gattis would be a fine offensive coordinator for Saban.

not reading the whole thread so, SIAP.
Petrino hired as OC at A&M.
Who cares how it goes, dumbo might relinquish calling plays.

I wish I'd read this before the playoff. I have no one to blame but myself.

This worked out pretty well.

He was likely done as is. Jim doesn't fire generally, he let's assistants get their new job and let's it go from there.

Weiss isn't about recruiting or development of relationships. He's all analytics and likes the NFL much more.

Fwiw, the computer crimes are nothing creepy (kids, porn).

As expected, Bill O’Brien is returning to NFL. Alabama will be replacing both coordinators.

Has to be better than a defensive coach running the offense
Pretty sure Kliff was #1 for that but I don't think with his bank account he wants to work under Belly

Especially when the other option is Thailand on a one way ticket and his dime piece

Tommy Rees new OC at Bama.
Interesting hire for sure. Can't say the fanbase loves it, but I think the more you look at it, the more it makes sense. I'm thinking at best, you see some similarities to Sark in 2019-20, at worst, more like the Jim McElwain/Doug Nussmeier type offenses from the early part of the Saban run. The RB room at Alabama is pretty solid for next year on paper, wouldn't mind seeing a more robust downhill run attack than we had under O'Brien. Would definitely help the new QB

Alabama hires Kevin Steele for DC. From what I understand, Saban did everything he could to make Jeremy Pruitt hirable, but in the end, decided it wasn't worth the risk. However, I expect that Pruitt will have some involvement in the program sooner rather than later, most likely as an analyst, until he can become the DC again. As for Steele, certainly not a splash hire or whatever, but he brings to the table things that we've been missing under Golding. I'd say the vocal minority of fans are not very inspired by the hires, but my guess is that they will both work out fine

Andy Ludwig interviews with ND to get himself a raise. He'll coach at Utah as long as Whittingham does then they will both ride off into the sunset.

Sounds like Kyle will ski off into the sunset, probably sooner tham most probably expect. Can't believe he's 64 (I think)
