Coaches and ATS Records in Bowls?

Frank Costanza

Co-Inventor of the Man's Bra
Anyone seen this info anywhere? Always interested in this for a variety of reasons. I know Whittingham is now 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS. Just did a quick search on him as I recall his success. Couldn't find a full list of records anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

But 0-1 off a conf champ game loss. Utes were -6.5 v. NW last year and lost 31-20.

True, but Utah led 20-3 halftime last year then NW got 28 unanswered pts in the 3rd Q (NW +5 TOs in the game)

Chris Peterson is actually just 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS at UW in bowls.

The last 3 years losses vs top ten ranked Ohio St, Penn St, Alabama.

Not the greatest Washington team, but doesn't really feel like a uniquely outstanding Boise team either this year, a step down to what UW has been facing in bowls recently.

Last time he faced a Group of 5 team in a bowl was 2015 Heart of Dallas, 6-6 Huskies faced a 9-4 Southern Miss. UW-8 and won 44-31.

Peterson's last game, vs old team, in a 3 game post season drought...vs not really great Boise team feels like a Washington win to me, even without Bryant. UW has some O issues, although feel their D should matchup well here.

That would be only side I could play. Seems like anytime I backed huskies this season Eason made a god awful play some point in second half to screw me. Lean that way, not sure if I’ll play.

Not directly bowl-related but related to today....I don't recall how good Gary Anderson was ATS at Utah State during his 2009-2012 run there but I recall it being a damn good run, as in crazy good.

Time flies, wow.

Good enough to get the Wisconsin job!

Pretty sure it's known although didn't see it mentioned here, 3 players busted for pot including QB Love but expected to play.

As of right now, that is my only legitimate worry, Eason being off the mark and Boise DBs making plays.

Didnt think this was a really good MW season either outside of Air Force. Nevada and Utah St were down
Fresno was way down and SDSU was SDSU. Didnt seem vintage Boise to me. Still hard for me to trust Eason. He has so much ability but makes some very questionable decisions. No play for me.

Didnt include Hawaii because I still dont really know what to make of them and Boise got them twice on the blue turf.

The more I look at this one the more under has appeal to me, any thoughts on total? Seems like a game low 20s should take it barring any pick 6s.

Kinda same way I feel, Boise def down but I don’t trust Eason and Boise seems to love beating pac-12 teams. Those 2 things enough to keep me off a side. Under makes some sense I think:

Today

Mackie (13-8/9-12) vs. Carey (0-6/0-6)

Dantonio (6-5/7-3-1) vs. Clawson (3-3/2-3-1)

Gundy (9-4/8-5) vs. Jimbo (7-2/6-2-1)

Helton (2-2/1-3) vs. Ferentz (8-8/10-6)

Calhoun (4-5/5-4) vs. Leach (5-10/8-7)

If I get time I will go back through the completed games, but I doubt it gleans much.

One of my largest bowl plays last year was on the Aggies.
Not because I'm a homer, but because I felt Jimbo wanted to have that good showing for the money spent and the obvious recruiting implications.
Part of the reason I like UNC today.
Here are coaches in their first year with a program.

Carey/Temple
Mackie/UNC
Scatterfield/Louisville
Diaz/Miami---proof that blindly betting this could be hazardous to your bankroll.
Klieman/KSU
Day/OSU
Healy/Charlotte---got dusted
Helton/WKU
Freeze/Liberty ---won SU as 5pt dogs
McElwain/CMU --- curbstomped
Anderson/USU --- lost as 7pt faves
Drinkwitz/AppySt --- won, failed to cover 17pt

Perhaps the edge is seasoned/motivational coaches, but not sure that's it. Watching their pressers will probably give us a clue.
I wanted to go through the possibilities, so here is the info.

I like the angle just not blindly. I prefer it be coaches that came in and clearly have program on a upward trajectory/are good at their jobs!

Thought it was great for unc today, I like ville for lot of same reasons, to be here from where they were last year and with a coach that appears as competent as saterfield I gotta assume they took full advantage of the extra practices and will be incredibly excited to end the year on a great note.

On the other hand i thought Miami showed all the signs you don’t want, bunch of guys sitting out, team that no showed during reg season several times, ended the year losing as favs multiple times. They had the stench of already needing another new coach. Lol.

Not thrilled to be against k-st cause i think their coach prob closer to the jobs done at unc and ville this year but I just really like navy.

Yesterday's recap.
Carey and Leach did not disappoint
Jimbo continues a nice SU record, his D left the backdoor open.
Between the two that were virtually even SU, the better ATS records prevailed.

Haggins 1-0. He coached the Jimboless Noles to victory 2 years ago. Not that it really matters.
