They couldn't hang with most of the top 20.I mean JMU wouldn't hang within 30 of IU or Oregon or whoever is the 5 seed

Agree
Bring back the BCS, this whole thing is a cute big 10 and SEC tournament really anyway
They couldn't hang with most of the top 20.
That 1993 Notre Dame vs FSU game was actually the second to last week of the season. BC was ranked #17 at the time and beat ND on a last second FG. In my opinion the Irish deserved at least a share of the National Title that season. It should but we know it doesn't.
1993 ND beat FSU early in the season but then ND lost to BC in November.
FSU went to the Orange Bowl to play Nebraska for the de facto Natty.
The argument was that FSU's lost was at ND, a highly ranked team, while ND lost at home to BC, an average team and I believe it may have been right after the ND win over FSU.
I'm just saying that the earlier the loss, the better it is for the team.
See tOSU circa 2014 i think vs VaTech at home? or maybe 2016? then they ran the table?
Ole Miss already beat Tulane 45-10 earlier this year. Not sure I want to see that again...I'm thinking the committee will try to avoid any possible rematches for as long as they can but who knows for sure.If Duke were to win, Tulane to Oxford I would hope.
I don’t mind that match
Send em to Oregon?Ole Miss already beat Tulane 45-10 earlier this year. Not sure I want to see that again...I'm thinking the committee will try to avoid any possible rematches for as long as they can but who knows for sure.

That's a possibility too...I'm not sure they will be able to hang with any of them though.Send em to Oregon?
I think Auburn was undefeated that year as well but on probation...The pollsters at the time just wanted Bowden to get one imo.Could easily argue for a 3 way split of the 93 title. Nebraska lost by 2 to FSU in what was basically a road game and were completely ass fucked by rigged officiating that cost us 14 pts.
FSU lost to ND and then the ND loss you mentioned above.

I don’t know. I’d like to see Ole Miss w/o some staff members. That's a possibility too...I'm not sure they will be able to hang with any of them though.

As for the current debate with Miami I guess people can look at it a number of ways. Miami beat ND in week one and were rewarded at the time and moved up in the rankings. Later in the season they lose to Louisville and SMU. Now that the season is over, they want to be rewarded again for beating ND in week one. Miami should have beef with the ACC and how stupid their rules are and not Notre Dame.
That's true. I wasn't thinking at the time that Kiffin had left for LSU. That could be interesting...Funny how Ole Miss moved up in the CFP rankings last week with Lane bolting.I don’t know. I’d like to see Ole Miss w/o some staff members.
yes, they went 11-0 under terry bowden. great memory.I think Auburn was undefeated that year as well but on probation...The pollsters at the time just wanted Bowden to get one imo.
Good point and the same argument could be made for Notre Dame. Their two losses were by a combined 4 points and if the refs had thrown the flag on a blatant holding call that A&M scored the winning TD, on ND would most likely be a lock at 11-1. In my opinion both teams are deserving but not sure if there is any way that is possible.Good call on the FSU v ND game being so late in the season. I had forgotten that. I do recall it was very soon after (the next weekend in fact as you said) that they lost to BC on that late FG. I agree about ND deserving a shot but the logic back then was basically that FSU losing at ND was more "forgivable" than ND losing at home to BC. Also, in the back of some of the voter's minds was that Lou Holtz won a natty in 1988 and Bobby Bowden had not yet won one. There had to be some sympathy in there too.
Re Miami, do we only focus on the Louisville loss and the SMU loss? (both are going to be in bowls) or we do give them credit for beating "then #18" USF by 37 points, "then #18" FSU in Tallahassee, and "then #22" Pitt at their place by 31 just a week ago?
I forgot about him at Tulane. He went 11-0 in 1998...I had to look it up, lol.yes, they went 11-0 under terry bowden. great memory.
then in 97 or 98 i think tulane went undefeated under tommy bowden?
lots of great coaching by bobby and his sons.
Oh I didn’t forget that one lolI forgot about him at Tulane. He went 11-0 in 1998...I had to look it up, lol.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that ND would be favored in just about any team currently "in" with the exception of Ohio State. They certainly would be favored against Miami.
Just a guess but I would think Notre Dame would be about a 7.5 point favorite over the Canes. What's your guys numbers on Miami and ND? Fuhrman says ND would be favored over every SEC team.

I’ll believe it when I see itOver everyone maybe besides Georgia and that would be close to a PK. Since being the perennial joke under that murderer Brian Kelly in these playoffs often losing by 3 touchdowns they’ve caught up to everyone. I’m not a ND fan but they’ve been crushing opponents since a rocky start. Best team they’ve had in 30 years.
Would be better with 4. IU, Buckeyes, and winners of B12 and SEC.
What safety?probably disallowed for player safety ?
But who gets in instead? Texas with three losses? Miami who has two bad losses? Irish who lost to Miami?Alabama and BYU should be out imo ..
If the TIDE can't run for 5 yards we don't need to see them play another game
But who gets in instead? Texas with three losses? Miami who has two bad losses? Irish who lost to Miami?
How many they beat this yearWhat's your guys numbers on Miami and ND? Fuhrman says ND would be favored over every SEC team.
All bullshit aside, I hope Bama gets fucked. All homerism aside, there is no world where Notre Dame and Miami should be in over Alabama. Today was bad no doubt. But Miami couldn’t make a conference champ game that was won by a 5 loss team, and they beat ND. 3 SEC teams comfortably in the field got to watch games on TV today while we sent a MASH unit team out against a team we beat on their own field today. I have no idea what the committee will do tomorrow, but if they leave out Alabama, good bye conference championship games (good riddance) and compelling OOC games
The last time we had controversy over Bama the sports book odds were pretty telling, or where they!?I saw Bama -300 at FD?
Man I don’t know. The Saban bump might be done. We’ll see.
I understand the sentiment on the number "3".Bama 3 losses.....bad day or not...3 shouldn't get any team in, nor be considered
I agree with you on that. Oklahoma is quietly skating through all of this because of their late season win over Alabama.Counterpoint, Oklahoma sucks and Bama, ND and Miami should all be in before them.
I’m aware OU beat Bama. Check the stats. Bama dominated and imploded.
Not going to happen, but just think the Sooners are barely top 15
