getting tired of treading water and losing the hi-juice associated with FCS plays.
.Last week if you tailed Friday night post only, you went 3-0. But on Saturday morning I added 8 plays that went 2-6. Sorry 'bout that.

There's very little this week that looks good. Nothing in the Big South or Southern Conf, nothing in the CAA or Northeast Conf, and nothing in the Missouri Valley and Big Sky - all of them normally providing plays every week. So for the most part we are sticking much closer to home, and the first three games involve a team no further than 30 miles from where I sleep with wife but without dog.

Brown -4 @ Yale - Both teams played Penn the last two weeks, and the Bruins came out much better in the state and on the scoreboard. Brown's John Spooner is said to be the fastest player in college football. I don't know about that. But let's assume he IS the fastest in the Ivy League, and combined with star QB Patrick Donnelly should have too much for the improving but still pedestrian Eli.

Princeton -13 1/2 @ Penn - The Tiger is ferocious and hungry this year, chewing up everything in sight except a one point early loss to Lehigh which surely would be reversed if they were to play again. Six straight years of frustration against the Quakers should keep the Tiger revved up for this one. Reminds me of a book from my childhood, " The Tiger's Revenge" by Claude Balls.

Columbia +36 1/2 v Harvard - This is one of those 'name your score' games and the star is Tim Murphy.- He's the Harvard coach, and the most merciful I have ever seen. Last year it was an uncharacteristic 0-69, but for many years prior it has always stayed well within this number. Add to that, this H eleven is not as potent as in recent years and has important games vs Penn and Yale remaining.

Lehigh -3 1/2 V Holy Cross - An important game in the Patriot League race. One team is 6-2, the other is 3-7. I choose to ignore last week's "almost' win by the Crusaders against the unbeaten Fordham Rams and go with the home team here.

moving out of the comfort zone - -

Wesley +9 1/2 @ Charlotte - Moving up from Division 3, where they make the playoffs year after year, Wesley meets a new team in transition getting what appears to be generous points in a game they feel is winnable.

Memphis -13 1/2 v UT Martin - The UT Skyhawks are no cupcake, by any means, but after encounters with UCF, Houston, SMU, and Cincy - all losses but there could well have been a couple of winners in there - Memphis should find the going much easier here.

Iowa -14 1/2 @ Purdue. - Have you seen any of Purdue's games this year ? Nuff said.

Tulane +8 @ U T S A - If thew Green Wave can beat No Texas and East Carolina, which they did, they should be able to stay within 8 points of newcomer Roadrunners. Straight up win would not surprise.
