With you on the Tulane/Nevada over 56. No clue how this total so low. These teams routinely score 30+, we don’t get the typical long layoff before the bowls, the defenses don’t stop what these offenses do well. Lean Nevada as well as I think the top mountain west teams are vastly under ranked in the power rankings, not convinced they should be dogs here playing in familiar territory on the smurf turf!!

Do we have a total on fau/Memphis? Off top my head That has the makings of a low scoring stinker.

la tech offense struggling even worse since the wr opt out Scott brought up.

ucf/byu gonna be a interesting one to cap. Since getting their season crushed by coastal not sure what I think bout cougs anymore? Sdst got out to a lead on them, covered, and really only lost cause their offensive ineptitude imo.

Totals aren't up yet at BOL. At least for my Tulane/Nevada article I relied on Bovada for the total. Bovada bastards won't even let me look at their offerings when i'm in Maryland.

I'm not arguing against it, I kinda like it, but Nevada has had 4 games scoring between 20-27. Their O isn't always as potent as it might appear.

I hear ya but those games you speak of 2 were against sjst and sdst, one who plays excellent d and the other who plays a lot of keep away, then there was the Hawaii stinker I’m willing to overlook, which leaves the New Mexico game where strong threw for plenty of yards. So point taken on my statement not being the most accurate but still fairly confident they go for 30+ here vs Tulane.

NT is awful against the run. The defense is awful in general. They won't be able to get App St. off the field.

NT relies on a good ypr but App St. is decent against it, and has played better competition. If NT trails, they'll be up against one of the better secondaries for a mid-major.

45-17 type game

North Texas' best player, Jaelon Darden, has opted out. He doesn't have size, but he is a real good play maker for them. It hurts.

The only thing I question is App State's "care" to be here. For a perennial conference champion to be playing in a bowl game in the host stadium of a conference team, I doubt they are very happy or excited to be here.

Just saying that is the kind of intangle thing that sometimes comes into play for bowls...otherwise, I agree, this is an awful matchup for North Texas.

Marshall's offense has completely disappeared last two games.

But they should be able to stop Buffalo's rushing attack and make them one-dimensional. And that dimension is AWFUL.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Some of the players to watch on this Caesars list aren't playing. Already mentioned Darden. All 3 of the players in the GaSo - LaTech game are not playing.

I think wrong team favored in that one. LT Luke Anthony had bad leg injury vs TCU, but LT consistently played 2 QBs this year. Hardy opted out and Werts I expect to be out. Ga Southern should be on their 3rd string QB who came off the bench vs App State and was not good.

I liked it to show all the possible upcoming games. Not about the players to watch.

Because that's so misleading I'll delete the post.

yeah they struggled scoring against hawaii for sakes. Tulane needs a new DC. With a strong dline just play deep coverage and let nevada run which they can't do.

I watched some of san jose nevada - and several of these long san jose runs the rb just tractored over defenders who seemed to be in position. I don't think Nevada wants to deal with smashmouth, and Tulane is a horrible matchup for that.

Listened to some of the Georgia Southern head coach latest press conference. He said he didn't know yet if Shai Werts will be able to play (shoulder). He did say if Shai wants to play they will get him on the field, be that 1 play or however many plays. Not knowing what he would be able to do. He missed the last two games after being injured in the 2nd H vs GaState.

The backup Tomlin, who is ok, is definitely out. So Miller Mosley will be the guy who didn't play well or look especially talented vs App State coming in off the bench. He's a senior grad transfer from Wofford where he was their backup. Then there is Sam Kenerson, a true Fr who might be the future, but is 4th string and never seen the field yet. Sounds like they will get him some time and I assume he will bring something better to the table than Mosley.

If Werts can play that is obviously huge. Sounds like will have to monitor the situation this week and up until kickoff.

North Texas QB Austin Aune is out. He's the better passer (1650y 55% 13-4 ratio).

They also have Jason Bean who has actually started the last 4 after his huge game at MTSU, but typically he has been relieved for Aune. Bean is the runner (336y rushing in 7 games he saw extended action) but also passed for 880 53% 12-4 ratio.

With WR Darden out, Aune not making the trip and Bean likely going the whole way this makes North Texas a more run heavy team. They already like to run the ball in their own CUSA world are good at it. Not sure they can do it vs App State. Just figure, #1 passing QB out, statistically one of schools best ever WRs out and running QB in. They will be run heavy unless they fall behind by a bunch.

NT does get their edge rusher back for this game who have missed some games: Gabriel and Grayson Murphy combine for 7.5 sacks on the year.

Wake Forest DE Boogie Basham opts out of bowl. #2 RB in yards, #1 in TDs, Kenneth Walker lll also opts out.

Mountaineers running back Camerun Peoples must a big day in the Myrtle Beach Bowl to keep a significant App State streak alive.

Peoples needs 193 rushing yards to hit 1,000 for the season. An App State running back has eclipsed that mark in each of the last eight football seasons, second only to Boise State's streak of 10 (which will likely end because of a limited schedule for the Broncos).

That streak has been authored by Steven Miller (1,368 in 2012), Marcus Cox (1,250 in 2013, 1,415 in 2014 and 1,423 in 2015), Jalin Moore (1,402 in 2016 an 1,037 in 2017) and Darrynton Evans (1,187 in 2018 and 1,480 last season).

Daetrich Harrington looked well on his way this season after he ran for 595 yards in the first six games. But he hasn't played since the Texas State game because of injury, missing the last five.
App State is the only FBS team allowing its opponents to complete less than 50 percent of its passes (46.6 percent through 11 games), and it leads the nation with 70 passes defended (14 INTs, 56 PBUs). CB Shemar-Jean Charles leads the nation with 17 passes defended and 16 PBUs

App State has won 5 straight (never lost a bowl game since moving to FBS)(won last three by 14, 32 and 34)

North Texas 3-8 all time in bowls, last win 2013. Have lost last 3 bowls 13-52, 30-50, 31-38 the last 3 years)

LaTech has won 6 straight bowl games (2014-2019 longest active streak) (won last 3 straight up all as underdogs +7, +1, +5)

Georgia Southern has failed to cover their 2019 and 2018 bowls as 5pt fav (upset by Liberty) and as 3pt fav (won by 2 vs EMich)

How the fuck did my Cats scam their way into the Gator Bowl?? 4-6 vs. an 8-3 NC State team.

:idk:

So many teams opted out of bowls and then there are some tied to contractual conference obligations that it sounds like a total clusterfuck to seed all the bowls.

Nevada had seen like 100 plays on defense the week before. Think they tired vs sjsu as they haven't missed tackles like that all year other than that half.

UAB is a 5 point favorite over South Carolina LOL. Did anyone stick around at South Carolina, doubt they expected a bowl game. I imagine them having to call players back to campus and GAs coaching the team. Hell, maybe Beamer will coach it!

For some odd reason, Wisconsin continues to be favored in games. They have lost 4 straight ATS and lost 3 of those 4 straight up. Yesterday they won in OT by 3 as a DD favorite.

Good for Army. I read somewhere that Messy St had a bowl game before them. Just sad. Armed Forces Bowl was open...

@twinkie13 what would your opinion be for Tulane to be playing in upper 30 degree temps in Boise Tuesday. Think it will be partly sunny, but like 37 in early afternoon out there.

Agree with lack of motivation. App St deserves a better game and team to play. They're well coached so you would think they'll win but cover 19.5 is tough when not motivated.

21 is a huge number to swallow. Yeah it went up to 21, maybe on the NTex QB news. Which really their QB news is bad for them, but not awful considering they can still do some things they want to do with Bean. And with Darden out and with the pass D App STate has, NT wasn't going to ahve much success throwing anyway.

Everything points to App and as far as I have seen they are not having anyone opt out or sit. And they have some dudes. So it is good to know they all in. App State has a standard to play to.

I do think that North Texas figures to have less ability to score given the passing QB is out and their only real high quality WR is out. Running QB in, they have some good backs, not sure if their OL can block. Might think about the Under? Fear is that if App State is "on" they could approach upper 40s into the 50s as they have in some past bowl games (45 vs MTSU 2018). Their O feels a notch down from prior teams, which it really shouldn't be. They have that potential to score in bunches.

You look at a team like UTEP running for over 300 on North Texas and it makes it really hard to think about North Texas getting many stops. UTSA gashed them for 431!

I don't really like much with this game. Being I normally bet dogs and not too often big favorites this game doesn't have much appeal since I don't think North Texas stands much of a shot. Only way would be if App State isn't really into the game and North Texas finds success running on them.

Is UCF going to be able to run on BYU? Not a BYU-esque peformance vs Coastal and San Diego State. Has BYU peaked? Wondering if the Coastal game took something out of them that they may have a hard time regaining.

Gotta hate the UCF D, seen a lot of bad football out of that D this year.

4 of UCF's 9 games would've gone over this 72 point total and 2 others were within a few points.

Trying to figure out how BYU D is going to fare vs them.

Wonder if the move to App -21 is more of a head fake by the pros than it is news of the QB. Maybe they're pushing it towards 21.5 to slam NT. Fuck if I know. I'll wait for a live opportunity.

Sounds like an under, but all the steam is pointing the other way...

NT had to rally to beat UTSA. Trailed by DD. They’re awful and if they stop App State I would be shocked. I like teams who can run the ball effectively to cover large spreads late and I assume that to be the case here.
