I wanted to get this going tonight for discussion. I will chime in with thoughts myself hopefully tomorrow evening. As I noted before that dismantling the other day I'd be scarce for a few days. I'll also have a full 'denounement' (that's just for Hunt) sometime this week... Hopefully tomorrow night. Anyways, should be an interesting game. It's actually very fascinating in many ways to me thinking about it a bit tonight. Let's us know your thoughts on NW and OSU in Indy. :shake:

Most sports it's hard to bet a big fav after they have a dominating win, especially as a dog, but CFB is different than other sports. Confidence and momentum really do matter and when an underachieving team busts through it seems more often than not there is no hangover. I expect OSU to play as hard as they did last week. Urban also knows they need a huge, dominating performance here to get into the playoff so I'd expect him to have the foot to the floor on the gas pedal. Kind of an underdog mentality from them again this week even though they are -14.

I know NW has an elite underdog coach and a good defense but I don't see how they keep it close. NW's offense is really, really bad. Ohio State's issue all year on defense has been the fact their LB and S really suck. The common thread every time their defense has been exposed is SPEEEED. Penn State, Nebraska, Purdue, Maryland, and even TCU all have explosive guys on offense that caused major issues. NW doesn't have that at all.

On the other side the NW D is good but they don't have the speed to match up. I kind of expect what we saw last week where the OSU speed on offense just takes over. NW has only played 3 good offenses in my opinion all year and Notre Dame, Purdue, and Nebraska averaged 30 points and 460 yards per game against them. Ohio St is much better on offense than those three teams and has way more impact skill guys.

Kudos to NW for a great year but they are about to be exposed. 45-20 at best.

Pretty much how I see it. Ohio State needs an impressive win and they will get it.

BAR is that Herbie in your avatar? if it's someone else then shame on me for not remembering.

anyhow, i just don't see how Northwestern is going to score enough points to stay with tOSU high flying offense. it's pretty clear they do not want to get into a shootout with the bucks. ball control running and passing game. can the bucks get emotionally as high as they were vs michigan and fly around like that again? i lean NW +

they'd better win by at least 5 TDs and hope the Sooners either lose or win by a very small margin, if they want to jump into the Top 4 (assuming Bama wins). you will see in tomorrow's Playoff rankings that tex-ASS will be ranked much, much higher than N'western

Someone, anyone, tell me how this game is close. Reminds me of '14, Wisconsin and 59-0.

It only reminds you and others of that year because ohio state is in a similar spot needing a blowout win to jump a big 12 school to get into the top 4. You know what they say - when everything looks like it will go one way, pick the other. This buckeye D nowhere near as tough as that 2014 edition. They are fast, but not as physical as that year. I think the northwestern grit and discipline keeps them in this game and within a few tds. Not enough of a margin for them to leapfrog the sooners, if the sooners best texASS.

I'm on OU fan so I'm definitely seeing things through red lenses lol

Ya was that light switch game or a flash in the pan where everything fell perfect for them. I tend to think the former since they underachieved to my preseason expectations but if they revert to two weeks ago the line is dumb in favor of NW. All depends on how you view it.

Have to figure the buckeyes get a few calls though ...

Food for thought... OU/Texas play at noon EST and OSU/NW play at 8pm EST. The outcome of the former could affect the latter.

Bama/GA play at 4pm EST as well...

Excellent point.

If UGA wins, TOSU can kiss any chance of making the playoffs goodbye and NW would probably be a decent value.

While I think Oklahoma wins a lot more often than they lose against Texas, they probably don't rate to blow Texas out often with the type of score that makes people go crazy.... meaning they are not likely to blow them out with the horns in the teens or less. So assuming Bama wins, and OU either loses or wins close, you know TOSU is gonna put it on NW.

Yes, that is Herbie.

For some dumb reason a certain female member that is married to a Ohio native put me up to an avatar bet after 7-0 the other day. It wasn't exactly the smartest bet on my part, hehe. She was nice enough to send me some avatars during and after the game but I'll pick my own.

Good 'take' there.

Very good.

I will still have a full 'take' on that game from the other day, of which I watched exactly 25 minutes of.

But, to start it off, you can break it down like this... There is so many things to look at as far as that game. I could spend hours on it from both sides really but the biggest thing in that game was the most basic in all of football...

"Trenches"

UM was absolutely dominated by a maligned OSU offensive line.

OSU defensive line played a GREAT game.

I should finally have time to sit down at the desk and type up more on this in about 23 hours.

Btw, I am one 'sick f*ck'. I won a very fair amount live betting that game(and 2h total was 27 lol) when it was 14-6 and OSU had the ball during a timeout. That is also when I turned it off and never watched another play. Yup, it was on the wall quick that day.

-------------------------

At least MSU represented the state by pulling one out versus Rutgers.

I have talked a lot about Nebraska this year. I told a few others the other day but peek their schedule next season.

Maryland finally deflated last week it looks like. No bowl.

NW took care of business.

Purdue sneaks into a bowl. That regular season was the definition of a roller coaster.

Did I not say Minnesota TT the other day? Argghh...great bet in retrospect.

----------------------------

As far as this week, I will start discussing more on Wednesday and Thursday.

Fondy is from Ohio? I thought he wore red for Wisconsin...
