We are going to focus on the Charlotte Hornets.

This fits the situation, other than the fact that they stay in-conference on the road-trip. I would also assume that they go back home after the 2nd game. This will be kind of a wait and see thing with this situation. It hopefully will warrant a play somewhere in here...

Some 'Stons Notes...

Here are five things to watch this week:
<big>1. The losing streak</big>
The Pistons enter Monday's game against Cleveland with a five-game losing streak, their longest of the season, and 2 1/2 games off the playoff pace. A road test against the East-leading Cavaliers brings with it a strong chance to extend the streak to six. The Pistons also have lost three in a row at The Palace of Auburn Hills, their longest home losing streak of the season. Pending an upset of the Cavs, the best chance to end both losing streaks comes Wednesday, when the Pistons host the 8-47 Philadelphia 76ers. Let's just be nice and say it better not extend beyond then.
<big>2. Solving power forward snafu</big>
Tobias Harris, acquired last week in a trade with Orlando for Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings, figures to move into the starting lineup Monday. That wasn't necessarily Stan Van Gundy's plan. The coach said he figured to start Anthony Tolliver at power forward for the three games in four days after the All-Star break. That was before Tolliver banged knees with teammate Andre Drummond in Sunday's loss to New Orleans and had to leave after playing eight minutes. He was expected to have an MRI and not accompany the team to Cleveland. The Pistons also figured to have help by now from power forward Donatas Motiejunas, who was acquired in a separate three-team trade last week, along with Marcus Thornton. But Pistons physicians still have not cleared Motiejunas medically after examinations by a back specialist in New York and team doctors at Detroit Medical Center. On Sunday afternoon, the three teams involved agreed to a 24-hour extension on the three-day deadline for consummating a league-approved trade. The extension expires 6 p.m. Monday. Without clearance, the trade could be voided and the Pistons' protected first-round pick and center Joel Anthony returned to them. The only way to salvage the deal in that case would be if the Pistons either went against medical advice or worked out a change in protection guidelines on the pick they sent to the Houston Rockets (top-eight protected this year, top-10 protected 2017 and 2018).
<big>3. Working out kinks</big>
Yes, Allen Iverson, we're talking about practice. The Pistons have had three practices since acquiring Harris, and considering they were winless in his first two games, the difficulty of getting a short-handed roster acclimated to broad overhaul was clear. The Pistons will need even more work together if and when Motiejunas and Thornton can play. They are about to get a window to do that work. After Wednesday's game against the 76ers, the Pistons play two games in six days. That allows at least three full practices, assuming days off Tuesday after the back-to-back, and next Monday after five consecutive work days. With the exception of the All-Star break, the Pistons have not had consecutive non-game days since Jan. 10-11. That cuts practice windows considerably, but it changes for at least a little while, with two-day respites three consecutive weeks -- Thursday and Friday this week, March 3-4, and March 7-8. Those practices could prove essential.
<big>4. Comin' in hot</big>
The Pistons have had a gnawing penchant for catching teams at their hottest. Sunday's loss to New Orleans, which is 11-7 in its last 18 games after an 11-21 start, is just the latest example. But the most glaring example is the Toronto Raptors, who are 15-3 in their last 18 and have solidified themselves as second in the East. Two of the three Pistons-Raptors games this season were during that stretch, with the final meeting Sunday at The Palace, where "We The North" often has ruled the day recently. Even the Pistons' Saturday road opponent, the disappointing Milwaukee Bucks, entered Monday with three wins in their last four games -- and the memory of curb-stomping Detroit 109-88 when they played at Milwaukee the first time, Nov. 23, still the Pistons' largest losing margin this season.
<big>5. Milestone chase</big>
With four games Monday through Sunday, several Pistons are within reach of personal career milestones. Aron Baynes needs 21 points for 1,000. Harris is two assists shy of 400. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope needs 10 3-pointers for 300. And Thornton, whose acquisition in the same trade as Motiejunas means they are tied together -- no one involved in that trade can play until the details are finalized -- needs two field goals for 2,000.
