As we enter November, what do we know after 9 weeks?

completely understand this but if they hold that against them its just gonna make teams not schedule any competitive early season games. That has been the issue for awhile; we wanna have good football from week 1 on but how u gonna expect Oregon to ever schedule something like that again if they get held out over it? Wasn't half the team hurt in the 2h that night too?

Youre 100% right. With the current structure there is no reason to schedule difficult out of conference games to start the season. That ship has sailed.

And even if Oregon did beat Auburn I still wouldn’t want to see them in the playoffs. Whether or not they would deserve to be in the playoffs is another issue.

Agree
Just saying what it is now

You’ll find no argument with me. You know how I feel about the undefeated Shaun King days.....
As fate would have it, that was the first year ever that Tulane didn't play at least one SEC team.

you’re breaking it down logically and your logic is correct.

I’m using subjective eye test nonsense and historical data which really has no place in a playoff committee discussion but I will probably wind up being correct haha. If I’m putting up money I’m not interested in fairness So it’s a separate discussion.

Utah looked foolish in a loss trying to defend SC’s athleticism. That doesn’t bode well for them when stepping up in class level.

I think Clemson steps it up when they’re interested in doing so. Similar to OSU 2015. So in my mind theyre not getting dinged for the UNC game but they should get dinged in a playoff committee discussion.
Utah did look bad on defense that game. They whiffed on some tackles and missed every 50/50 ball that was thrown up. That being said, they have made some changes defensively and they are playing well right now. The UW game in Seattle will tell us a lot this Sat.

Looked back at some of these games tonight. Several more I wanted to look at, but going to bed now and probably won't be back online until Thursday.

Navy led 24-0 2nd Q with Navy RB Jamale Carothers having a 52 and 35y TD runs and a 31y TD reception in building that lead. Tulane would score 28 of the next 31 pts to trail just 28-31 and would then tie 31-31 early 4th Q! Navy took the lead back going 2-for-2 4th down on a 10p 75y drive…38-31, Tulane would also convert a 4th down on their way to a 12p 77y TD drive…38-38 1min left. From their 25, Navy never faced a 3rd down and went 7p 44y setting up the time expiring 48y FG for the 41-38 win. The teams combined to go 5-of-5 on 4th down. Tulane outgained Navy 272-128 in the 2nd H. For the game Tulane had a 477-453 yardage edge.

ACC

UNC won 23-20 with a goal line stand turnover, but they outgained Duke 432-329. Each team lost 3 turnovers. Duke had a 7y “drive” after an INT and UNC could’ve put the game away late, but were SOD at the D06 allowing Duke to go down the field until their failed jump-pass attempt was INT’d in the EZ with :14 left.

Miami won 16-12, but Pitt outgained them 322-208! Turnovers and RZ scoring were the story. Miami got 10 first half pts off just 47y of O following Pitt TOs. And Pitt was in the RZ 3x, as far as the Miami 11 or 10 yard lines 3x yet had to settle for 3 FGs.

Big Xll

Iowa State had a 468-402 TY edge, but lost 27-34 with some costly turnovers. In the 1st H ISU got to the O15, O22 and O12 yard lines but only got 2 FGs out of those 3 drives. OSU led 21-13 HT without running a single offensive play in ISU territory! They did this with big plays of 71, 50 and 65 yards for TDs. ISU’s 3 TOs were all 2nd H INTs, one a pick-six.

CUSA

Western Kentucky lost 23-26, outgained Marshall 426-401 but were done in by 3 TOs, 2 of which led to 14 Marshall pts. WKU also missed a FG in the 1st H. Game was tied, Marshall kicked game winning 53yarder as time expired.

Middle Tennessee State rushed for 471 yards! FIU fumbled 4x in horrible weather conditions

MAC

Kent State QB Dalton Crum threw his first INT on the season (194 attempts) vs MiaOh. 23-16 Redhawks won – each team fumbled in the RZ and kicked several short FGs.

Akron’s first 12 possessions did not cross midfield. NIU scored twice on D and had a 1p 30y TD after an Akron INT.

Buffalo kicked a FG and Central Michigan scored a TD to lead 7-3. Then the wheels fell off for the Chips. CM was sacked / fumbled at the C32 (recovered at the C22 led to UB TD), next possession – next play CM fumbled at the C15 (led to UB TD), in the 2nd H was SOD 4th-and-1 at the B18 and threw INT at the B46 (led to UB FG) and CM threw a 40y pick-six with 2min left in the game for the 43-20 Final. CM also muffed a punt, but on the ensuing series UB threw INT to wash those TOs out (UB's only TO of game). UB only outgained them 376-315, but CM lost 5 TOs – UB lost 1. The turnovers hurt, but CM only rushed for 73y and was just 3-of-13 3rd down. McEllwain apologized to Buffalo for the uncompetitive effort.

SEC

LSU only won 23-20, but their yardage advantage shows 508-287! Auburn had a 22y “drive” for TD after a LSU fumble and Auburn scored the last TD of the game with 2-1/2 minutes left. LSU was SOD at the A29, A01 and also kicked a FG from the A02 and threw an INT from the A26. Auburn had 5 consecutive possessions in the 2nd H where they netted just 3 yards.

I lied, was able to get some more this morning.

AAC

SMU took the opening drive 11p 74y, but were SOD at the H01. SMU then had 85y TD drive, Houston matched 5p 88y to tie 7-7. A SMU 62y TD run and 32y drive after a fumble put them up 21-7 before UH got a 25y FG then after an SMU INT with under 2min left UH kicked a 34y FG as time expired in the half…21-13. UH was sacked / fumbled on the second play of the 3rd Q and SMU recovered at the H02…28-13, UH quickly came back with a 75y TD pass…28-20. SMU drove to the H03 with a 1st down, but settled for a FG… 31-20. UH successfully faked a punt from midfield on 4th-and-12, but would have to punt 4 plays later. UH kicked a 40y FG early 4th Q, then SMU added a 33y FG…34-23 9min left. UH threw INT and SMU tried to put the game away on 4th and 9 at the H29 threw to Proche down to the H02, but he was called for O PI and SMU punted, downed at the H04. UH immediately hit a slant that went 96y with a 2pt conversion and it was just a 34-31 game! 5min left. SMU had to punt, but UH was SOD at the H45. UH again forced a punt with :20 left and they got as far as the S45, but Tune was sacked while attempting a hailmary. UH outgained them 510-385, SMU outrushed them 182-103 (5.4-2.6). SMU was in the RZ 6x, but had to kick two short FGs and had one empty possession plus the O PI at the H02. SMU did have 14 pts off turnovers. UH was called for 11 penalties totaling 129y (SMU 9-86). SMU D had 7 sacks.

Big Ten

Offenses struggled between Illinois and Purdue. ILL got a 44y run to key a drive ending in a 38y FG. Then Purdue threw an INT from inside their own 10 that ILL returned for TD…10-0. ILL had another drive set up a FG attempt but the 32yarder was missed. Some chunk run plays produced a TD drive for ILL to make it 17-0 HT. A Purdue fumble in the 3rd Q set ILL up for a short field TD and 24-0 lead. Purdue didn’t get past the I40 yard line until their second-to-last drive of the game that went 13p 99y for their only score…24-6 F. PU had 17-14 FD edge and 271-268 (35-4.5) TY edge, but ILL outrushed them 242-135 (4.6-3.1) and did benefit from those turnovers and short field opportunities. ILL attempted only 7 passes completing 3 for 26y.

CUSA

Southern Miss only led 10-0 HT at Rice. SM only got 5 possessions, 3 didn’t cross midfield and they scored with a short FG and a 10p 67y TD drive. Rice couldn’t do anything on O in the 1st H, had one drive started in SM territory after a punt, but they were SOD at the S30. Was 13-0 when a personal foul penalty kept a Rice drive alive (would’ve been 4th down), they'd go on for a TD. Teams traded INTs on successive possessions, SM missed a 27y FG after a delay of game. SM had a 9p 88y TD drive end with :35 on the clock. SM had a 364-139 (5.1-2.3) TY edge. SM outrushed them 157 (4.5) to 8 (.3) SM D had 8 sacks.

MWC

Hawaii led 35-3 HT, NM did miss a FG and was SOD at the H28 and H22 and threw a pick-six. Despite big lead that lead UH had to hang on late! UH threw INT deep in NM territory to start the 3rd Q and NM ripped a 67y run to get going. It was 38-10 entering the 4th and then 45-10 before NM scored 3 straight TDs aided by UH being SOD at their own 36. It was 45-31 when NM was at the H28 2nd down when they were INT’d at the H03 with under 2min left to preserve the 45-31 final.

SEC

Alabama drove for FG on their opening drive, then Ark would turn it over on back-to-back possessions, a fumble on 2nd-and-1 from the AB41 and an INT from the AR46 – not surprisingly Bama turned those into 14 pts and led 17-0 end 1st Q (131-74 yardage edge in the quarter). Ark’s next 3 possessions were ineffective, they threw INT deep in their own territory (Bama got FG) and then Ark was on a 7p 51y drive when Ark was INT’d at the AB16 and ret’d 84y for TD by Trevon Diggs with :07 left in the half (same player that had 100y scoop-and-score TD last week vs Tenn). 41-0 HT. In the 2nd H, Bama only had 4 possessions (TD and SOD at the AR05) and Ark only had 3 possessions and did manage a 4th Q TD to O’Grady who became Arkansas’ all time leading TE TD reception leader. Bama outgained them 459-213 (6.8-3.8).

With drives starting near midfield following a punt and an INT, Texas A&M jumped out 14-0 and would lead 28-7 after a 12y “drive” following Miss St fumble. 28-10 HT. The first 4 drives of the 2nd H were all TDs, 2 by each team off of 70+y drives or big plays…42-24. Miss St muffed punt in their own territory set A&M up again on a short field and a 49-24 lead late 4th Q. Miss St scored final TD with just :49 left. A&M only outgained them 441-433 (7.1-6.4) and benefited with 21 pts off turnovers. A&M was a terrific 8-of-11 3rd down (Miss St just 4-of-11). Miss St outrushed them 239-207 (6.3-5.3). Mond 17-23-234-3-0 (76 net yards rushing). Schrader 13-30-194-3-1 (64 net yards rushing).

Nw might have the worst offense in history of football, i need to stop falling for taking points with them cause they can’t score shit. How can a seemingly decent coach have such a horrible unit? How is it possible to be this bad at offense this day and age?
