I don't think it matters if Knicks let Hardway Jr. go two years a go or not. In the end, they took him as a free agent and not traded anything for him. I do think they overpayed him and without any good reason, but that's another story.
I also really like it, how Oklahoma, no matter what, tries to stay competitive. They did a lot of mistakes, but also a lot of good moves that are proving themselves.
It's also nice to see that Houston tries their best, despite the fact that they know that they can't beat healthy Warriors in best of 7 series.
For me it's sad to see Memphis core, after so many years, broken apart. Was one of my most favorite teams no doubt even... Gasol and Z-Bo's frontcourt... was a beauty to watch (for me)...
Clippers are in a very tough spot. They got a decent core and good young talent (from Houston), but I honestly think they need to let go of both members of the Rivers family and probably Jordan as well.
I don't get how Hawks got stripped of all of their assets and didn't get anything for them in just two seasons... Teague, Korver, Carroll, Horford and Millsap - all gone and Hawks didn't get nothing for any of them.
Chicago and Knicks got Wade and Carmelo problem. They don't need them, but probably don't want to let them go for nothing as well. I think that if Knicks sign Griffin as GM, no way will he let Carmelo go to Cleveland without getting anything in return... I also don't get what trade can Rockets come up with for Carmelo, given how they gave almost all of their assets in CP3 trade. Wade actually can be a good mentor in Chicago, if he decides that this roll suits him.
I really like the moves Kings have made. I don't care if they overpaid the veterans or if there are too many of them and will stop the young players from developing. Kings are a mess and positive veteran voice in the locker room can finally turn this team in to a true basketball team. Hill, Z-Bo and Carter fit that description.
Pels should be interesting to watch, but I thought they will try to sign some cheap veteran on the wings or something... I would really like to see what a healthy Pels roster can do this season, but what are the chances to see that...
Zach Lowe wrote correctly in his article about the trades that GSW came up as big winners twice. Also kept all important players from their roster, also made good signings and also, their two biggest rivals - Spurs and Cleveland didn't do anything this post season to threaten them. It may be that Rockets and Celtics are their biggest rivals at the moment, not Spurs and Cleveland anymore...
