2025 Golf Handicapping Thread....

watching Zurich at arms length, hit one play Friday and missed some opportunities yesterday.

Rd.4 Zurich. 3u each, DK
Knapp / Capan under 71.5 -130
Salinda / Velo under 71.5 -130
Novak / Griffin to win -110

GL on your plays today

3-0 Rd.4 Zurich +7.3u. Thought I saw something and glad I jumped in. Closing out April and moving onto May, CJ Cup / Byron Nelson Classic up next:

YTD:
January: -38u (6 tourneys counted)
February: +14.75u (3 tourneys)
March: +53.1u (4 tourneys)
April: -5.55u (4 tourneys)

Rd.1 CJ Cup

McCarty -130 v. Vilips 4u (DK)

Stalking birds or better, over/unders but everyone is expecting a birdie fest so not much value there, for now, imo.

Adds to follow. GL this week

0-2 Rd.1 -8u. Scottie doing Scottie things but far from over. Treading lightly until I get a better read on the horses for this course.

Pendrith under 67.5 -110 3u (DK)

Adds-
Smalley -115 v. Cole 5u (DK)
Jaeger under 67.5 +110 5u (DK)

Rd.2 on a Saturday morning, live add, Jaeger under 71.5 -105 5u (DK). Just doubled a par 3, think he settles in on back 9

Winds are modest but the greens seem to be offering makable putts if you can get it close.

Jeager bombs been making a few now…

Need a par here final hole! Leggo @laopadak

Makes sense. Ty
If you ever go to practice rounds it's crazy how much work caddies do marching off steps to each of the four hole locations and writing in their yardage books. Tournament rounds are actual the easy part other than the scrutiny of one particular shot

Is there anything to guys shooting lower when they’ve already got a round or even half a round in their belt?

Good ? But doubt there’s any hard data, good or bad. I’d say keeping riding guys that finished strong, fading those that are struggling. Limited options but going with:

Rd.3
Jaeger under 68.5 -135 4u (DK)
Burns under 68.5 -145 4u (DK)

Love these

Think about how wild tomorrow would be if Scottie wasn't playing his home event.

Simply put, this isn't a big event anymore. Scottie boat racing the field otherwise we'd have an epic Sunday!

Rd.2 1-2 -3.65u, Rd.3 2-1 +3.5u, -8.15u CJ Cup.

Weather gonna be good, wind down, should see a lot of birds as Scottie cruises to the finish line

Rd.4

EVR +300 v Scheffler / Dbacks ML / Astros ML +1115 2u (Betrivers).

Scotty could have a broken back and still go out and sneeze out a 67. Think some putts don’t drop, level par on most holes good enough as he enjoys a Sunday stroll

Adds-

Rd.4 adds-

Kitayama under 68.5 -130 5u (DK)
Nico under 68.5 -110 5u (DK)
Castillo under 68.5 -120 5u (DK)

GL

These have moved to big plus #s on FD. Not sure why? Scoring looks pretty decent as of recent. I don't see wind picking up. Perhaps greens will get crispy? Doesn't seem to be too hot though.

Not sure Spec, seeing good scores on my phone and think more fireworks will come later. Movement is scary but I’m in and can’t cash out.

1-3 Rd.4 -8.15u. Total for CJ Cup, -16.3u

A few recap points:

At no point Scheffler was in jeopardy of losing a lead but he continued with his game. 99% of the time an 8 under score in the final round should get the H2H win by EVR but Scottie will do Scottie things. Didn't matter that EVR ended up with a tied score w/ #1 as Houston blew a 4 run lead only to have the game called in the 7th with a final score 5-4 WS. Just amazed with Scotties dominance this week. More pissed that Astros blew the lead and game ends in 7th as a final score.

Scores in the final round were there to be had and many would've / did cashed, just wrong selections by me. Really seeing my preferred book being very selective in their offerings over the weekend, especially on Sunday morning, making selection more difficult.

Moving forward- I too am going to be more selective in my plays, not press / fall in love with a number. Gonna have to do some business with the BS book they call FD again, as they're my only other out for a decent selection of plays.

Truist Championship- formally the Wells Fargo-

72 player field, no cut event.
New course so no history to go off of.
Rain and cloudy Thursday/Friday, clearing up over the weekend.

This will be fun, probably no pre-tourney bets and hopefully some clarity comes as the week progresses.

Tough tournament for me with no course history to speak of.

Definitely a profile but I haven't fired on any outrights.

Watch and see today.
Rory said something interesting this week about the course. Most of the architecture nerds on twitter say courses like Cricket Club require more strategy and positioning, but Rory said that on these restored classic courses, the biggest mistake he's made in the past is trying to play too much strategy. Said this week he's going to hit driver as much as possible and figure it out from there

Here's the story:

Truist rd.2 plays- weather a big factor today but 2 under round is still doable. GL

Harman under 68.5 -125 4u(DK)
Glover under 68.5 +100 4u(DK)
Live Henley under 68.5 -155 4u(DK)

Rd.2 Truist live play- An +105 v. JJ 4.5u (DK). Both -1 through 3 but An is on the more difficult back 9.

Some risky plays for me today but can't be worse than how I've been running for past week. Gonna turn it around and get that shit.

0-4 -16.5u for a Friday, Rd.2 Truist. Didn't believe in the weather and paid the price. Poop trash is what my oldest son called his brother when they were younger and it's fitting for my plays today. Reboot and back at it over the weekend.

You'll get it back. Weather is such a factor. Seems more so than ever. Cold and miserable there today.

Gonna keep firing, well behind for the week and need some confidence builders-

Rd.3 Truist
Live Harman under 69.5 -165 7.5u (DK) even thru 8
EVR -110 v. Taylor 5u (DK)

GL on your plays today

0-2 rd.3, 0-6 Truist minus a big 27u. Trying to go perfect in golf this weekend. All at DK

Myrtle Beach outright Hughes +400 1u
Truist- Bhatia -130 v Homa 4.5u
Adds-
Bhatia under 68.5 -115 4.5u
English under 68.5 -105 5u
