***2023 Recruiting Thread***

Having the greatest coach ever and being in the last 10 national championship….who said it’s a demise?

Mostly national media saying he was whining about aTm. 3 of top 4 from Georgia are committed to Alabama, so it's not just in state kids

OU has been on a bit of a heater lately, and pulled in Colton Vasek, a top 75 player out of Austin, today.

Seems like they may lead on a few more big names as well, notably David Hicks Jr. @M.W. Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis are monsters.

I'm not surprised. Venables was a great recruiter at Clemson. Bates also recruited well in his short tenure.

5* Keon Keeley decommitted from Notre Dame last night. There's been a lot of smoke with him and Alabama. Our current commits have been working him hard on social media. Sounds like it's more a "when" and not an "if" at this point

Keeley committed to Alabama today. Maybe took longer than expected and Ohio St made a really good effort. This defensive class has a chance to be pretty special

Wild recruiting up here.

MSU down to 10 commits.

Michigan will finish with 20-23 or so but definitely no one in top 100. Lack of upfront NIL showing it's face. Tough to show kids on the money they will make once their here when most other places are handing out before.

They were way behind to begin with and keep falling back. They are just now meeting again with the new presidents on board but things not going well. New president is very forward and progressive towards NIL. They gotta get something concrete in place though or two straight years of this would cripple the depth.

This garbage is ruining the game.
Hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube, but they need to ban the collectives. It's one thing when a student athlete gets an endorsement contract from the local car dealership, or an autograph deal. It's another thing entirely when boosters can give money to a collective and then distribute funds to players just for being on the team, not to mention pay recruits to commit, to go on official visits, not visit other schools, etc. That last bit is against the rules, but there's nobody to enforce it. This could have been done so much better if the NCAA hadn't dug it's heels in the sand and hoped it would go away

Base salaries plz then let guys do the endorsement thing.

Simplest "start" to this that was bypassed.

It's ruining the recruiting thread!

Seriously who gives a shit about recruiting now with all this stuff. I've lost total interest. And recruiting was always such a unique and fun element to cfb and a way to keep some interest going in the winter and summer months. February signing day was always an event I looked forward to that had me glued to the tv/computer the entire day.

Yup.

I've been a junkie in this since whatever RRs first year / Pryor recruitment. It's addicting.

Last few years the care isn't there as much.

They do need to get rid of ESD and to back to standard February. Especially with portal etc. Just too much of a crunch now.

Plus coaching changes in that equation.

I have no idea why anyone would want to play for the guy but Cristobal is a great recruiter despite being a disaster as a head coach.

5 star OT Kadyn Proctor visiting Alabama this weekend. He's a current Iowa commit. If we could somehow flip him and land the Carver duo from in state, would be a pretty salty class

5 star LB Anthony Hill from Denton Ryan committed to Texas yesterday after decommiting from A&M in the fall. Huge pull for Sark prior to a big visit weekend.

$$$

They are just tossing money man.
I'm sure they are but Miami doesn't have the funds of any of the major SEC schools. Cristobal is an absolutely horrendous coach but he was always a top notch recruiter way before the payments were out in the open.

Bro, they have more than most SEC right now.

TAMU only one they don't.

Miami NIL is throwing it anywhere and everywhere to see what sticks.

I admittedly don't follow recruiting nowadays so I will take your word for it but I find it hard to believe Miami is throwing around more money than schools like Alabama and Auburn but I guess its conceivable. Regardless of who is doing it this is really distasteful and ruining a once great game. If I wasn't such a degenerate I wouldn't watch at all.

NIL whole different game.

Bigger collectives as of late summer were TAMU, Miami, Michigan St and Tennessee.

Miami has that one billionaire mega-booster who basically announced he was going to buy the Canes a championship roster

Seems like he has informed Iowa's coaches that he is decommitting. Also most predict the Carver duo to sign with Alabama on Wednesday. Guess Saban hasn't slipped too much just yet, though this may mean that we don't get rid of Pete Golding as our DC

If you want to play in the NFL you play for Saban. If you are more interested in good weather and having fun you go to Miami and lose 7 games a year before having to get a real job.

An opportunity to play for the best program in the country obviously
Did he just pick up the offer? Clearly Bama had plenty to offer, but just seemed to come out of left field, with the late visit, and then the commitment.

No, we came in 2nd to Iowa when he committed in June. Never stopped recruiting him. Read that he had been working on a visit for the A&M game, but his parents couldn’t go or he was sick or something logistically prevented that visit. So the late visit was more due to that. He also visited Oregon recently. I guess he tried to keep his interest quiet because he obviously loves Iowa and the pressure on him to stay had to be immense.
