Pretty much a regular
yesterday was a nice start for the 2022 Texas Rangers

we signed Marcus Semien to a seven-year $175-million contract & Jon Gray four years for $56-million & finally Kole Calhoun a one year deal for $5.2 million

Seager or Story will be signed today due to the impending lockout & I won’t be shocked if we don’t sign a big starting pitcher as well

it’s nice to see ownership finally spending some money
 
The Gray signing is a nice upside play betting on his potential but the Semien deal is just awful. Daniels should have been fired for what he has done to this organization.

Daniels actually doesn’t have the final say anymore, but I do agree he’s done much more harm than good for our team
I wouldn’t give Semien 7 years, 4 was the perfect number
 
Corey Seager has signed a 10-year, $325 million deal

we should now be a .500 IF our starters do their thing
I’m very happy with these signings but will there be a 2022 season????

I'm hoping for a long lock out that ends with a salary cap.
 
not happy we traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Twins for C Mitch Garver
Isiah’s time with the Twins was a few hours as he then got traded to the Yankees
if they don’t sign Story or Correa then he’ll be their opening day SS
Isiah was a solid player for us and he’s got to be very happy where he’s landed up

Once you signed Seager the writing was on the wall for Falefa. He is a very good defensive shortstop with not enough bat to play third.
 
I'm guardedly optimistic this season...of course, I'm loving the signings--I think Miller may be just what the clubhouse needs--and I'm quite excited about some tweaks I've seen so far. For instance, Eli White has re-worked his swing and I think the new middle infield will not only be turning a bunch of double plays to get the staff outta some jams, they may be able to coach up Adolis and get him calmed down a bit at the plate.

I see our season win total at 71.5 ---I'm leaning over. We might sneak up on the .500 mark this year. At minimum, I believe there'll be some money made in the early season wagering on Rangers reverse runlines, capitalizing on the excitement in the offense.

Here's to a season of realizing some payoff from the multiple rebuilds.

You lucked out there. Carp has been a dumpster fire for last few years! Can’t believe he gonna go slum in minors after being grossly overpaid, he could retire comfy with way more money than he deserves! Dude shoulda hung it up before the year, now he gonna go take bus rides to shitty parks? Weird man. Talk bout a no life havinv Mfer that don’t deserve that huge bank account! opening day for us is just around the corner and here’s where we stand as far as the roster goes:

1st base: Nate Lowe
not expecting much from him & I do expect us to improve this position within the first 4-6 weeks of the season

2nd base: Marcus Semien
paid big bucks for him
let’s see what happens


3rd base: Andy Ibáñez
not sure how he will work out over the long haul
I’d rather we’d gotten a proven 3B


SS: Corey Seager
all eyes on him for sure
he needs to improve defensively
I do expect him to be the “straw that serves the drink”

Garcia & Miller will have good years
Calhoun will be lucky to bat .225 and Nick Solak will get ample playing time

Don't want to derail the thread too much but what the hell is this front office doing. Why even spend big money on Seager who is great but always hurt and Semien who to be kind has not been consistently good in his career when you have a pitching staff like this.

I've said this in previous years but I have always liked this franchise and wonder what has happened to it the last 5 years or so. The team used to be fantastic at drafting and developing talent but that just isn't true anymore. I wonder if things started going downhill when Preller left but I don't follow the team closely enough to know for sure.

That series was crazy, every team who jumped out to lead gave it up before end the 5th! Rangers blow a 7-0 in game 1 (that pushed my Ff bet, fuckers!), just a small lead in game 2, but then jays blow the early 6–1 yesterday, doesn’t appear offense gonna be ya’ll biggest problem! Lol

Pretty much everyone overusing pens right now. Starters didht really have a chance to fully stretch out in shortened spring. they have expended rosters for extra pitchers at moment don’t they?

was it dangerous? no
should it have been overturned? no

but remember there’s NO crying in baseball so just move on…

May I suggest a merger of our two franchises. In that merger we take the Brewers pitching staff and the Rangers lineup. Now that would be a World Series winning team.
 
This Rangers team reminds me of the Doug Melvin Brewers as well as his teams in Texas where the lineup was prolific but the pitching staff belonged in AA. Very frustrating knowing that every night you might be forced to score 10 runs to win.

Woody had a chat with our pitchers prior to the game, he wanted them to have a “let it rip” attitude and they did they let the mariners rip 3 HR’s
you can’t make chicken soup out of chicken shit and our staff is chicken shit


we are 10 games into our season and it’s clear this team won’t mount any challenges this season
no team leadership at all, on our way to another 100 loss year

I was on Ray to do well as I think your boys lofty ops against lefties thus far mostly fraudulent as they hung a couple big numbers but overall not consistently doing much damage w half their games being the 3 runs or less variety. That a really bad combo mixed with a pitching staff that has given up 5+ In 8 of 10, 6+ in 7 of them! We know it wasn’t gonna be enough to compete for 162 but sure Would have liked to see the additions spark them a bit of early success. If they can’t muster anything now what it gonna look like when they staring up at all the other teams in the west come august? Even the A’s who had a freaking spring time fire sale are competing!

Manager speak is funny, I get it tho, what he supposed to say? I dunno if they were really peppering the ball or not, obviously I didn’t watch, sometimes that does happen. In their defense that Gilbert kid has really good stuff, nobody has done much damage vs him.
 
Maybe ya’ll can’t scratch out a win or 2 vs Oakland, good spot for the pitching to be little better anyways cause that lineup not scaring anyone!
