This first two weeks is survive time.

I think if these young guys can make an impact we'll be right there for 7/8 spot though!

Didn't go, thankfully. Saw Elvis Costello live instead at Royal Oak Music Theater. Better choice. I agree with your earlier assesment of survival. I'm down 1 unit. The youngsters will make a diference as the season gets going.

Liking the over 5.5 for 1 unit.... I'm 0-1 so far. Good test for Wings right now. Talbot playing lights out when in net. Should be a good game. GL
 
Wings played a solid game. 2nd period was the difference. I forgot they traded Petrysnuts. Wings are hot. Talbot really solid again. Long road to the playofffs. I like the way they are playing right now. GL

Where do they go from here? Wings letting in 5 goals, at home, in 3rd period to Nashville and lose 6-3. Coach says it's not a sign of a good team. Obviously! I'll say it again, IMO, the leadership of this team plays when it wants to. No urgency. Until that is changed this is what you have, a team, no matter who the coach is, playing mediocre hockey and getting the same results. Change should be imminent. I doubt that happens. Stevie Y. and his bootlickers won't pull the trigger. Larkin probably wouldn't start on one playoff teams first and probably second line in most cases. This teams lack of desire has been called out and yet management continues to accept this perfomance without any deterrent for this abysmal play. Need to change some of these so called veterans, leaders, to shake this bunch up. I'm tired of watching shitty hockey. It's long overdue. I like Tampa today. They owe the Wings one and Kucherov is playing well. Wings ate way too much turkey and they don't care, apparently, how they perform since there are no ramifications for their lackadaisical play. GL

Heading down tonight for my first game.
 
Nothing better than seeing 2 Original Six teams playing one another. I'm baffled by the inconsistent play of this team. Some may say it is because of the youngsters, etc. etc. etc. and I say it's the leadership or lack of it. IMO change is needed on the ice. The players might change the way they play when they know their asses might be shipped out of town with their shiity performances and their excuses..... Like Larkinnuts saying "WE ARE TRYING TOO HARD." WTF is that? WE say that shit trying to be funny when we fuck up. This is the Captain of the Detroit Red Wings uttering such bullshit and it is being accepted... why isn't this guy traded yet? What does he have to say to get traded? Reminds me of an old Lions coach, Daryl Rogers, who said " What does it take to get fired here?' LOL.... Stevie Y. and his bootlicking cronies better do something or it's another playoffless season with plenty of blame to go around. Have fun tonight BAR... GL

I was a bit concerned starting this trip...

We had the several games without a win before the game I went to (Boston)...

Then, this weird trip starts at Columbus (loss). This had the recipe for disaster...

Quite the surprise these last 3!!


Let's see if we can rally in the 3rd!!

I'll say, that Chicago game to end the trip seems like a situational nightmare...
 
I watched the first period and was regretting my play. Kaner was called for a shitty penalty and Edmonton looked as if they OWNED the Wings as they made it look so easy on the power play. Skinner played great as the Wings have a the ability to shoot the puck in the middle of his chest every chance they get and make it look like I could play goalie. As always the Wings got pushed around and never really threatened in this game. Edmonton showed that they are a teir above the wings as far as talent goes. Chicago game should be a good one if the Wings can find a way to play with some grit after getting knocked around. GL
 
Wings playing in front of their Moms and show some determination on the road. Back to back with the Caps... Wings haven't done well in these situations...I think they get it done at home... GL
 
Dallas in town on national TV. I'm liking over 6 for the game. Wings haven't done well on National TV this year. Gibson in net for Wings. GL
 
Tough game to call. Wings are playing very well right now. I don't know who is net for the Wings. Stat wise these 2 teams are even. I'm leaning towards Pens at home.. more likely will do something between periods. Pens playing well also. Maybe nunder 6.5... GL HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! Hard to write this as Indiana is kicking Alabama's ass right now. I'm Leaning under 6.5 GL
 
Maybe its because i pay attention to Pens games more from a rooting imterest, but they seem to have fast start first periods (more for them than against them it seems) and their 3rd periods have a decent amount of scoring.
 
For sure slim. For a while I was taking Pens first period and first period over 1.5 goals in many of their home games. Not so much lately, but maybe I need to get back to it.
 
Back to the grind....Hoping Larkins' Gold medal motivates this team enough for a playoff push. I like the over 2.5 TT for the Wings. GL

So...

Here we are in March and here we are with another swoon...

Factors this year...

1. Another Larkin injury this time of year
2. Honestly a lot of unlucky bounces for opponent goals
3. Frankly, our offense stinks lately

Tonight is not a surprise at all. Dallas is a helluva hockey team.

The bottom line is, the upcoming home stand basically will determine if we have a playoff chance or not.

Crazy to think that 10 days or so before the Olympic Break we were a few points behind it first place!

Now, we're 2 points in front of Columbus for the 8th seed.

I said to my local guys around 10 days ago I think we miss the playoffs. I wasn't trying to be a negative Nancy but that's just sort of how things go in the Eastern Conference. It's tough.

Can we go back to the West!?!? (Just kidding).

I do have some seats for the Blue Jackets game on April 7th and that lines up as a HUGE game potentially.

First things first, we need to beat a sub .500 Calgary team on Monday.
