What was your favorite moment in the Mark Stoops era at Texas AM (coaching carousel)?

Surviving College Station would be like surviving Afghanistan for a couple years but no doubt the payout would be worth it

We had a buddy that took us through that rat hole for a couple nights on the way home from Padre in college. He swore we'd love it. I had to disinfect, bugs all over and the chicks were hideous.

Lol. Ain’t they the ones who have the monster bonfire before one their rival games? I always thought that be cool.

I never understood running off Sumlin, I thought he was a really good coach, what ever happened to him? Feel like he a coordinator for a good program now maybe? A&M epitomizes insane unreasonable expectations, firing guys winning 9-10 games a year cause they couldn’t win a championship while being stuck in a conf with a historically great bama team!!

I don't have it in me to discredit a place for one experience, Stillwater would be uber destroyed if that was the case

I agree the bonfire kinda looks cool. My only other Texas coed experience was Austin so that's not really fair

He got wasted after every game then made a wasted appearance at some sponsored gig lol

Pretty much all experiences I’m a big believer in try anything twice, never know how bad the 1st experience could be and coulda been a total fluke! There many things I love I never woulda known had I not gave them a 2nd chance!!

Lol. Oh. Can’t hardly blame him, I get wasted too if I won 10 games a year and the alum calling for my head!! Thought he was a pretty good coach tho

Havnt been to any college campuses in texas. Only a few anywhere I guess. I used to go to El Paso as that where one my plugs family lived, plus it was right across the boarder from Juarez where I used to love go party!! Lol. I thought El Paso was nice but we always went around this time of year, never in the summer when it was prob 100+ degrees! I be down there in shorts and Tee shirt with temps in the 50s-60s and everyone be bundled up in coats! Kinda same thing in Houston! Lol.

Think jimbo was a straight cash grab, I woulda thought what he did at fsu he coulda had more success but maybe he kinda rode the Bowden coattails at fsu?? Taking over a established winning culture im sure easier than building one.

My mom and I went to El Paso for a Sun Bowl and next day took a cabber to Juarez, I was a bit on tilt with that guy. We made it back in one piece but no chance that happens today

Yea it much different these days. Not sure it was super safe back when I was going but I did have the added benefit of being some cartel types guest!! Lol

I simply don't think College Station is a desirable landing spot given the rest of the SEC. They wanted it, they got it.

MSU and Arkansas are their competition. Not the rest of the big guys.
 
Of course yesterday and today the 1st rather cold days of the year while I gotta work on my car! Had to rent a car for this week cause finding this stupid part to my car has proven damn near impossible!! I went to damn near every part store in greater stl!! One place would say their store at another location had my part then I get there and they wouldn’t have!!! Finally after searching all day Friday and as much I could Saturday before going to see my nephew play in state semi finals i because convinced for some reason the part I need isn’t supposed to be on the engine in my car but I thought I found the part online for the 1.4 turbo engine even tho my car has the 1.8!! Anyways the part came yesterday evening and while it looks closer than any the others I have seen I’m still not quite sure it gonna fit as it seems a tad off!! I gotta get this thing fixed by 2Marro as I don’t wanna pay for the rental past wed!!!

I'm still in my '09 Altima that hasn't hit 45k yet

Basically everything is a Lyft ride at this point, you do that? I only drive if it's not rush hour time.

The problem is they view themselves as thinking they should be on bama/lsu/Uga/gators level when they simply ain’t. Gonna get even worse not with Texas and Sooners joining, they just dropped another rung!!

They are the very definition of unicorn. Not sure why they randomly think they should be among the elite other than their paychecks.

Only when I’m going out to drink which really rare these days. Or if I’m going to casino to watch games all day. Bout only times I do the Uber or Lyft., I like to drive plus I guess I’m just far enough south of city where it like 60 round trip w tip so bit pricey to do all the time! We did get this little electric scooter that goes 15 mph or so I been taking around to all the stores close to us!!

I drive when I can but most things are so close I just use Lyft

Unfortunately went through the thing in 2010 and kinda ruined my life so I don't push it

I'm gonna go watch Smoltz in a couple weeks, that would involve 5-6 miles of freeway. Is that scooter worthy?

Guess I don't expect to drink so driving is fine but scooter seems like a reason to wake up!

You kinda need sidewalks or lots of room on side of streets. Wouldn’t recommend freeway,, lol. I use just on sidewalks and sides streets and go against traffic, even off to side of road I would freak having cars come up from behind me, I prefer being able to see them coming even if I’m not on road or just on edge. Only goes 15 mph, maybe 20-25 down hills, struggled a bit up steep hills without running start but I’m on the high side of weight limit., def not bad way around in city tho, I can get anywhere in 2-5 miles radius in pretty timely fashion.

It's odd, because they have all the ingredients to be elite: resources, fans, proximity to talent, and a desire to do what it takes. You could say the same thing about Texas and same for UGA under Richt. Maybe all it takes is the right coach?

Austin and Athens are so much a better landing spot than that place

I don't think I could compare it with a steady face as far as quality destinations among those three cities

I felt like Cristobal sucked the life out the Oc he brought in from houston!! So much so that Van Dyke entered the portal, great job coach, run off a qb with the talent to be a 1st round pick!!!! Lol. Cristobal in desperate need a demotion, he isn’t fit to be a HC, all he good at is building a offensive line and recruiting they say, but recruiting outta be fairly simple now days!!

I would make him HC of Miami before keeping Cristobal! That guy single handedly cost canes at least 2 games with his coaching! MYbe more but 2 that were just beyond defendable! Not to mention all the times they shoulda been letting Van Dyke throw! Something tells me the Holgerson disciple they brought in to create a offense for van Dyke had his nuts cut by Cristobal on more than one occasion. Im so happy Van Dyke hitting the portal and gonna give himself a chance to succeed at the next level, wasn’t gonna happen if he stayed with this clown!
