Welcome to the wildest coaching carousel we've seen ...

Looks like I'm about the only one who thinks Minter will be the guy but I will up my "trade" if @B.A.R. sees it as a real possibility and lets us know.
Unlike JH who has a show-cause thru 2038, minter's just ended literally days ago.

Do they want to bring back key ppl from that era ?

There might be an institutional control aspect to this with everything that has gone on since 2020-2021.

Let's be honest that most other programs would be dealing w a ton of scrutiny right now.

Re UM I don't recall any real controversy surrounding the football or basketball programs since the investigation of chris Webber.

smart.
say this so your team is focused on the 1st round of the playoffs.

if they play very poorly and get blown out (longshot but anything can happen), all of this can change in a heartbeat on both sides, no?

no coach is above things completely turning on them, are they?

if the UM job is still open on friday evening with no clear candidate about to sign a contract, then imo if the game gets out of hand for Bama all of this he stated can change.

it is all angling, posturing, setting the right message publicly, etc.

The outcome of Fridays game will have zero impact on Alabama’s desire to retain De Boer.

I can feel it that Minter is going to get the Michigan job and opening the account at Kalshi will be worth it.

BREAKING:

"STEVE SARKISIAN HAS EMERGED AS THE LEADING CANDIDATE TO BE THE HEAD COACH AT MICHIGAN !!!!!!"
>> top sources tell me - Horn universe in a state of chaos !!!!!

Above is no different than about 90% of the latest coaching 'news' - it's not NEWS, at all - I just made that shit up
>> we probably need to RESET how we view/judge things we read - before we react, and spread BS

Betcha - zero evidence of KD to Michigan - zero of Fisch wanting to leave UW. Any asshole with a microphone or internet connection can now post 'news' - it's either lie / create news, or get a job......

@B.A.R. i hate to reference polymarket but i have to.

two names are surging in odds. Jay Harbaugh and Manny Diaz.

any legs?

Kalshi market does not have either up there close to Jedd in the odds.

No. Lol.

Jay I think will be a helluva head coach, somewhere, someday but he has several steps before we get to that point.

I saw someone mention the Diaz name this morning and had a hearty chuckle for our guy @Brewers888

Minter is a home run hire -- but the timing isn't right IMO.

Why?

1. He isn't coming with the current AD there. Hopefully that changes!

2. The Chargers are going to playoffs and UM can't wait for them to lose to make a new coach.

So, you need a quick Warde firing and for Jesse to say sayanora before the playoffs.

He'd have been hired by now.

My gut is UM brass is rooting hard for OU on friday. I feel it deep in my gut.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the Moore firing isn't even 7 days old yet.

The search firm hasn't even released their findings on the candidates yet. Remember, they hired a firm, as many schools do. Those are supposed to come out today or tomorrow.

They were never expecting to hire someone by now. I know a few of you guys are living and dying on Polymarket/Kalashi (sp) odds but there was never anything in place, with anyone.

The expectation has been something between the end of this week and hopefully before January 1st.

An Oklahoma win this week definitely helps the list. Even if Kalen wants it, a championship run may just hinder those efforts.

Dilly may well be the guy. Shall see. Big time ceiling but not as much of a sure thing as KDB.

Jedd is ready and willing if they offer. That's not a bad consolation prize.

And there might be one surprise candidate too.

You know better than I do Reno but I can't see UM taking on another coach w/o head coaching experience at this point simply from a maturity perspective with all that's involvled.

Dilly is leveraging more support for hIs program at ASU by way of a gm, more resources for his staff, etc.

UM talks help his cause.

All coaches do that.

As I've told you guys here for several days now, the FACT is his camp has been in continual talks with Michigan. They reached out immediately. And have continued to do as much.

That's not speculation.

As far as jobs go - pretty easy to choose from. He has one factor keeping him out there -- that's home

With the amount of enrollment and potential coaches we have running around this city you'd think Dillingham would be worth North of 20 milly.

Fwiw I always thought it was Texas, tOSU, ASU, UCF, Wisky as the top 5 in enrollment. Never heard of a couple of these institutions but Southern New Hampshire advertises like mad here

I think you'll have a new coach before Christmas.

If Bama wins, I think your new coach is absolutely not going to be kalen.

If bama loses, it gets crazy down in title town.

I don't care what kalen posted the other day.

That changes in a heartbeat fri noght if bama loses their 8th gm in 2 seasons.

Saint nick lost 8 games the last 10 seasons 2014 to 2023 !

Agree.

Talks are heating up again as we speak.

The odds tell us this as I type. 🙂

Lol. The outcome of Friday's game will have absolutely zero bearing on how the Alabama administration feels about De Boer.

He can take the Michigan job and still coach in the NFL playoffs,

I know he can.

BUT, all the other variables aren't lining up.. yet.

There is one major impediment to the hiring of Minter, and that is the show-cause penalty he received due to impermissible recruiting violations and a lack of reporting of violations. The one-year show-cause penalty was enacted in the spring of 2025, meaning that Michigan would either need to show a reason to hire Minter or wait for the penalty to expire in the spring of 2026.

They are definitely looking at every angle with these guys -- background checks.

They have to.
Something came up in the firms background checks that has pushed Jedd off the candidates list for now.

There's a story of two that may explain it. Either way, onward.

Should see more news somewhere between Saturday and Monday.

As always, fluid.

But arizona and Washington missed it ?

Maybe he pulled himself out of running ?

He's got an up and coming team in Seattle.
