No reason to try and block a punt when other team punting from end zone. Dumbest play of year!Clock management is non-existent even at the highest levels. I have many football pet peeves. This is probably the biggest.
I know (Jim) Harbaugh is revered all around and is a good coach, no doubt. But his team has 26 penalties (accepted) in its last two games and some really big ones cost San Diego the game today.
Gannon is the first really good coach the Cards have had since I moved here. He's not getting fired lolDolphins and Cardinals coaches should be fired before morning

We aren't all that good. On the other hand, he's an insanely great coach
Whole regime is Philly based. Next step will be to move on from Kyler. It's the first time we've had a defense in the morbid history of the franchise. Only person we're missing from Philly is Big Dom.He’s probably the best they could hope for.

First time since the merger in 1970 that a team has lost 3 of the first 5 games on GW field goals. Our OC is definitely not problemHa Big Dom is a winner.
Yeah, gotta move on from Kyler.
Sign Mac Jones Mike McDaniel as OC.
I learned yesterday that it’s person foul roughing the passer if the QB is blindsided sacked. See Jaxon Dart![]()
I took my week-to-week belief in the league one week too far. We're now seeing established trends hold. Here's what I take from my pick club selections:
Took Rams -6.5 (miss). Bought too much into the injury situation for the Niners, but in truth Mac isn't that far removed from Purdy, Bourne isn't that far removed from Jennings or Pearsall, and Shanahan just knows how to scheme things up vs McVay. Divisional matchup, too many points to give.
Took Vikes - 3.5 (hit). Figured Minny had a clear edge on travel and the better team overall. Got a little lucky, although if O'Connell hadn't sat Addison in the first quarter for missing a team meeting they might have won more comfortably. O'Connell still doesn't trust his QBs. Wentz had 9 straight completions on the final GW drive. Before that the Vikes run/pass split was about 50/50 against a Browns team that has been a pass funnel. He's been too conservative with the receiving talent he has. Have to keep wondering why they cut bait with Darnold.
Took Raiders +6.5 (miss). Terrible pick. Raiders are a long way from that week 1 win over the Pats, and last week's tight loss could've been considered a winning effort which would make them due for a poor one. Colts tough loss the week before and returning home should've had me thinking bounce back. Really bad pick.
Took Saints -1.5 (hit). Giants off the big win last week were due for letdown, and Saints at 0-4 and at home were the correct choice.
Took Cowboys -2.5 (hit). Cowboys showed a lot week 4 and the Jets were a good matchup for them. They're starting to find a little bit of a pass rush and showed they can score without Lamb. Jets battled hard week 4 to no avail and are not good.
Took Eagles -3.5 (miss). Thought this one was in the jar at 17-3. Not sure what happened to Eagle's offense. I guess 2-11 on third down happened. Would take Philly again if offered.
Took Carolina +0.5 (hit). Classis week-to-week game, Phins finally got the win last week while Carolina looked horrendous. Started that way again this week but Carolina righted the ship starting late 2nd quarter. I'd look for pendulums to swing back week 6.
Took Ravens +0.5 (miss). Thought Ravens might show some next man up spirit while Houston was feeling good about whipping the Titans last week. Bad pick. Ravens are a dumpster fire until Lamar returns.
Took Titans +7.5 (hit). Probably got lucky but Cards will Card. Some teams just can't be considered a big favorite.
Took Hawks -3.5 (miss). Thought Seattle's defense would play better after almost choking away last Thursday's game vs Cards. Ignored the Baker rally factor. FG game in the end.
Took Bengals +10.5 (miss). I guess I still have too much faith in the AFC North. They just suck out loud. Still, Bengals showed a little heart late and kept the backdoor open awhile. Lions just loving to bully teams.....a RB jump pass at 7-0? They had no respect for Cincy pulling that one out of the playbook so early. I guess in the end that lack of respect was justified.
Took Chargers -2.5 (miss). Thought Chargers would bounce back after the early Week 4 loss. I don't think I would've ever taken Skins here.
Took Bills -7.5 (miss) Like the Thursday nighter, too many points to give in a big division tilt. Bills due for a clunker after 4 straight wins and had slept through their Saints win. Pats had an easy week 4 so they were mentally fresh and focused.
So, is there anything to take away from this week that applies to tonight? Both teams coming off a pair of good wins. I was all about KC rolling until Worthy showed up again on the injury report. If he plays I like KC, if he doesn't then the Jags will keep it tight.
I knew about the Monty homecoming and used a boosted anytime TD bet on him, figuring a blowout would give him plenty of opportunities. Yay for me.A few things ..
Darnold was a bit too pricey tbh for Minnesota. Add in those late season games vs Detroit and LA Rams showed he can't be counted on vs pressure. They had to try the rookie and see what they have.
Now? They need to upgrade that OL. Injuries have hurt badly, no doubt. I can't see either QB finishing the year.
The jump pass in Cincy was for a reason -- this was Monty's first game at "home". He's a Cincinnati kid. Also, the Bengals graciously put his sister on the field so she could see him for the first time since the accident.
I wish I knew all this before 4pm Sunday. I did grab his rushing over but that's it prop wise. That's totally a Detroit thing to feed a guy in that situation. Last week they tried feeding Jamo after his supreme blocking the week before. The dropsies happened though.

Rams game was classic injury game. Much like the NBA, bet on those injured teams! LAR certainly came out flat in that game. The Thursday factor at work as well.
Bills was one of "those" games. That happens to every team, no matter how good you are.
I'm glad to see Javonte finally receiving carries down in Dallas. I never understood why Payton didn't let him touch the ball more consistently in Denver. Nice pickup. The offense is playing very well. Dak looks damn good too.
YES, I wondered that as well in the in-game. The hold was called on #6 Bryan Cook according to the play-by-play on NFL Reference. He was playing free safety and tracked Parker Washington breaking to the RIGHT corner of the end zone. As soon as Lawrence got up he ran LEFT, never even scanning the field to throw.NFL refs are the worst in pro sports and that's saying something because NBA and MLB suck too. Why teams dont throw long or to endzone as much as possible is beyond me - 50/50 you'll get PI flag, especially if you throw it short and WR comes back for it. CB play awful too - my lord is there a CB who can cover without PI anymore.
How did refs have Defensive Holding on KC on that last Lawrence TD run - he fell immediately and then fell again and then started runnng - doesn't that make him a runner? Even if they had tackled him it would have been 1D at 1 yard line. Of course refs missed that blatant PI on KC on that one pick that led to KC TD.
How did a Jags wide receiver get decked ok the INT? Obvious DPI. Led to a short touchdown drive for KC.IMO no dominant teams this year - not even close. Philly, Buff, KC all look vulnerable. Balt a disaster. I thought GB was the one but Dallas went through their defense like a knife through hot butter with $48M man Micah complete non-factor. Right now i think Detroit is the best team but both their starting CBs are hurt so who knows. Injuries devastating a lot of teams. Anyone could sneak in this year. Denver? Though Nix hasn't been good.
Dallas offense might be best in NFL.

At first I liked the new kickoff rules but not any more. Teams starting on the 40 much of the time is a tad too much for me. Too easy especially if all you need is a FG - these guys are hitting 60 yd with regularity now - Dallas kicker will kick 70 yd this season I think.
Pet peeve as much in college. Its end of game and all the team with ball needs is a FD or two to win game - and defense is still playing 2 deep safeties 15 yards off LOS. Team runs ball, gets 1D, game over - but I guess they didn't get another TD. So moronic. You have to take the risk and push up to LOS to stop run - game is over anyway.
Patty could have asked them to pick up the flag if Trevor hadn‘t scored thereIMO no dominant teams this year - not even close. Philly, Buff, KC all look vulnerable. Balt a disaster. Lawrence falls like half a second after the snap…how long does it take contact to happen for holding when you’re at the 1? He also acts like he‘s going to pass before running in itIMO no dominant teams this year - not even close. Philly, Buff, KC all look vulnerable. Balt a disaster. Yeah im not a conspiracy guy either. These guys make way too much money to fix a game. Even the refs likely pull down $500k or so. I just think they're so incompetent. Just shocks me. I doubt we see changes. Sure league thinks the ineptness = excitement = ratings = $$YES, I wondered that as well in the in-game. A conspiracy theorist would think the ref/league was setting up a do-over, figuring Lawrence would be tackled in-bounds with the clock running. The penalty would stop the clock and put the ball back inside the 1. Thank god I am not a conspiracy theorist and the Jags won fair a square like every NFL game.
The PI rules (and defensive penalties in general) need a massive revamp:
#1) Penalties on the defense, excluding personal fouls, should be yardage only and no automatic first down. If the yardage doesn't get the first down, replay the current down at the new line of scrimmage. I've seen too many 2nd or 3rd and long plays become first downs because of a hold, PI or illegal contact penalty that occurs well short of the sticks.
#2) PI in the endzone should either be half the distance to the goal or placement at the 3 yard line. Take your pick. The tush push has killed the idea of placing it at the 1, no matter how much Jax struggles to get that last yard.
Damn beat me to it hahaGannon fined 100,000 k??
Wow.
That feels so excessive and soft...the guy fucked up big and it's not like he punched him. But I guess punishment is not completely unusual? Penn State basketball coach a few years ago, I think?Gannon fined 100,000 k??

But they‘re adults? In high school and lower yeah obviously instant firing. Idk. I get your point thoughI think it’s fair, kinda lighter honestly.
It’s a dangerous line.
I think it’s more the message. What if he knocked him out? It’s just slippery…there is already (allegedly) violent hitting going on on the fieldBut they‘re adults? In high school and lower yeah obviously instant firing. Idk. I get your point though
The league is notoriously soft on domestic violence. I can‘t imagine it taking any kind of a stance on a coach being rough in a very mild sense with a dumbass of a playerI think it’s more the message. What if he knocked him out? And that’s great. I shouldn’t have to explain the dynamics difference of domestic violence vs an NFL sanctioned event, more so game. The league is notoriously soft on domestic violence. He may prove to be a very good coach, but he made a terrible call running the ball on 3rd & 8 with just over 2 minutes to go up 2. He basically surrendered the ball back to the Titans in lieu of at least trying to get the first down & putting the game away. Instead he gave Tennessee the ball with 2 minutes left only needing a FG to win. Third & 18, I'd get it, but not 3rd & 8.Gannon is the first really good coach the Cards have had since I moved here. I think the right move is to make the other team burn timeouts or have to drive with little time left. It's not like he was facing an elite offense. He may prove to be a very good coach, but he made a terrible call running the ball on 3rd & 8 with just over 2 minutes to go up 2. The 3rd down play was run with 2:12 left, so it only took 12 seconds off the clock. If they throw & it's incomplete there's maybe 2:06 when they punt instead of kicking at the 2 minute warning. Granted Tennessee isn't elite offensively, but they had a full 2 minutes to get in field goal range for the win.I think the right move is to make the other team burn timeouts or have to drive with little time left.
