Week 4 What Are We Learning

Horrible clock management at the end of OT by Green Bay.

Brutal.

Chargers 6.0 ypp
Giants 3.6 ypp

Only way you lose those games is turnovers. The two interceptions only led to TWO yards of offense total -- but 10 points

Speaking of turnovers...

The Eagles had 200 yards TOTAL. Are you serious?

Eagles 3.4 ypp
Bucs 5.5 ypp

* Yes I know there is a big loss on the safety but not counting that the EAGLES had 19 2h yards.

Speaking of turnovers PART 3....

San Francisco had 4 turnovers while Jacksonville kept a clean sheet.

You know what? Let's highlight turnovers some more!! Bears @ Raiders was another one where that basically decided the game..

Bears 4.2 ypp
Raiders 6.9 ypp

Turnovers : 4-1 Raiders!

Add in a blocked FG to end the game by the Bears.

At least we seen the Jeanty breakthrough game!

Agree on clock mgt. What was Lefleur thinking. Brutal indeed

Quick comments on a few of the games:

Pittsburgh/Minnesota: say what you want but Pittsburgh will always win enough to keep Tomlin around which is just what the fans don't want. Say what you want about Rodgers but if they can keep him upright they will stay competitive. Steelers defintely won the QB switch with the team that shall go unnamed. I still think Arthur Smith is a bum but he outcoached Flores who is a good coordinator

Detroit/Cleveland: the Lions are just a great organization with a top of the line front office. They've overcome losing Ben Johnson which is a surprise to me and the defense has improved without the albatross DC.

Houston/Tennessee: still don't trust the Houston offense but they got the job done in a must win game. As for Tennessee you have to wonder how long Callahan has before he's rightfully fired and what does that mean for Cam Ward. Does the next coach get a say on Ward or do they have to agree he's the guy in order to get the job.

New England/Carolina: coming off a big shutout win Carolina goes back to doing what it does best and thats losing and losing big. Didn't see any of this game but I guess I have to begrudgingly give New England credit for a blowout win.

NYG/ LAC: I'll take this as west coast team coming off three divisional wins not being awake for an eraly start. Other than that nothing has changed; Chargers are a well coached team that is a contender and the Giants won't win many more. Shame for Nabers but this team isn't going anywhere regardless

Jacksonville/SF: don't want to make too much of one game but I think the Niners championship window is closed shut but maybe they'll prove me wrong. Coen doing a nice job with the Jags so @VirginiaCavs should be happy with the direction of the organization.

Baltimore/KC: great effort out of the Chiefs and big worries for Baltimore especially that defense which looks awful.

GB/Dallas: Pretty sure a decent high school could put up 30 on Dallas. Schottenheimer is not and has never been a good coach but he is the puppet that Jerry wants and deserves.

Still a week-to-week league. Panthers win 30-0 one week and lose 42-13 the next. Falcons lose 30-0 then put up 34 on Washington. Bills coasting as a 16-point favorite was not surprising. There are teams with structural issues:

- Vikings allow 131 yards rushing to a backup RB against a team averaging 63 yards a week. The Bengals whooping was a mirage....Atlanta had run them over for 218 yards the week before so there is still a problem. Both Pittsburgh and Atlanta ran off tackle very well, so the problem is LBs and DBs. Vikings also have a major QB problem....McCarthy just isn't ready yet and Wentz cannot take care of the ball. Exceeding tough stretch coming up after their Week 6 bye. Yikes.

- Steelers have been outgained all four games rather convincingly. Turnovers have gotten them to 3-1. 2nd oldest team in the league has guys dropping weekly, this week it was Ramsey and Austin. They get the bye to rest from their trip, then a couple of more backup QBs to start 13 straight weeks of games, meeting up with Love, Indy Jones, Herbert, Caleb, Allen, Lamar twice and Goff in Detroit.

- Speaking of the Lions, look like they have their swagger back. But Cleveland's D is still playing well, only 277 yards allowed. Time for the kid QBs to get their turn once they come back to US. BTW. Steelers get their bye after Europe. Vikings get their bye after two Europe games. Browns come back from Europe and have a road game at Pittsburgh the next week? Browns, Jets, Broncos and Falcons all play the week after their Europe game, but only the Browns go on the road.

- Jaguars have collected at least 3 turnovers in every game so far. Think they can do that next week against Mahomes? I didn't think so.

- What a difference having Worthy back means to the Chiefs offense. And in a couple of more weeks they get Rice back too. They're baaack.

- Bills are losing interest against inferior opponents. After New England next week they play 7 of the next 10 on the road. Circle these games: at Miami Week 10 is a sandwich game following KC at Buff and precedes Tampa at Buff. Week 16 at Cleveland follows at game at New England and a week 17 Super Bowl preview vs. Philly.

- Love Dart's mobility but the Giants air attack took a massive hit with Nabors out. Too bad, they were going be dangerous in some home games vs Philly, San Fran, Green Bay, Washington and Minnesota. Still might be, I dunno. Their DL is legit and Skattebo reminds me of Berman going "boom" with every collision.

BTW the Ravens better get some of the coffee the Cowboys and Packers are drinking. Star defensive tackle Justin Madubuike (neck/out for season), linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring), Roquan Smith (hamstring) and cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey (calf) and Nate Wiggins (elbow).....that's five key guys hurt from a defense that has been struggling since Week 1. They will need to score score score. Cooper Rush is just a horrible fit for backup there....it's a mystery to me why Harbaugh brought him in. Harbaugh better get to rubbing Lamar's hammy every day. Sometimes a team puts something on the game film that puts a team into a funk until they can figure out a counter move or run into a team that can't execute it.....I wonder if the way Detroit rushed Lamar last week is just that kind of tape. The Chiefs are certainly capable of watching film and duplicating a defensive strategy.
