Week 4 Discussion...The Wonk Week

If somebody can post the full card that would be awesome. All sites that have them are blocked at my office.

Basically every season has a wonk week like this. Tons of small road favorites that on paper should win and cover with ease. Never seems to work that way. Gonna be a huge "square vs sharp" week.

Indy -2.5 at jacksonville
detroit -2 at chicago
carolina -3 at atlanta
seattle -1.5 at the jets
denver -3 at tampa
dallas -2.5 at SF

All games that will likely have 75% on the road fav. Kind of like Zona at Buffalo today.

Of the dogs, I like SF, atlanta and jacksonville

I cant see chicago in their current state beating detroit. Detroit is in must win territory and is playing an awful team. i think they get it done so i may be a square for this one.

Also think Jets havea good chance here, but gotta monitor RW's health.

Someone can post the full card, I just wanted to start teh discussion up now with these small road favs. If you take all home teams here on the moneyline, you are going at least 3-3 no?
 
SF is an auto play @ home. This team simply falls apart vs. high level competition on the road.

But the defense, at home, is as good as it gets in the NFL going back several seasons INCLUDING last year. Check out Palmer's, Rodger's, Flacco's, Wilson's stats etc. @ SF.
 
Possible over-reaction to yesterday's outcomes but Vikes only laying 4 at home on MNF vs Giants. Yesterday wasn't the first day the Vikes looked legit. Grabbed this one early.
 
Atl/Car is interesting..... Car coming off bad loss at home not sure ATL defense will be able to get that kind of pressure on Cam..... think the small road fav gets my attention there

Carolina's defense hasnt looked right all year. Even SF moved the ball. This might be a great over spot.

guess im in minority i still don think Minny looks great... Cant run the ball there secondary is suspect i like gmen getting points in that one... eli wont sit back there all day like cam did yesterday u will see lots of dump off and screens from Eli IMO

They can't run the ball, that is a fact.....but their defense is another level good. Xavier Rhodes shut down Kelvin Benjamin yesterday. He will shut down OBJ this week.

if being scared of Eli is the reason for not betting teh vikes, then im betting the vikes all day lol.

however with the point you made, makes shane vereen a good DFS play

that said, 4 looks like a trap IMO. I know with our offense they can't hang a 6 or a 7 which is what my numbers indicate, but as Marlo stated, this defense is on another level. We'll see how they respond after 2 "up" games followed by another PT tilt.

Didn't watch this game but panthers killed a long ml parlay for me. My problem with next week is my hatred for laying pts with a one dimensional offense. Could be a closely played game. If eli gets protection, odb isn't the only problem. I think their passing game is being better every week. How about the rest of the min secondary? I think this is an under type game at first glance....
 
Think Det and Car win. The other small road faves could all lose. Really like Minny this week. Does anybody remember the last time they failed to cover a game? Simply amazing that this team continues to be undervalued.

feel like they could get plenty of action with MIN -6 coming off b2b giant-slayings. Almost makes me think the books are digging in even deeper thinking MIN is over their skis and will fall back hard here (or maybe they like to gamble and love what should be a big backdoor with Eli)

they were a very public team in the offseason and though BAL is 3-0 they've beaten BUF, CLE and JAX. I'm surprised the number got above 3, value on OAK until it gets there (and i expect it settles there)
 
Oakland goung 3-0 on the road would be a big surprise. I expected 1-2 from them OTR after this week. Then again, I also expected them to beat Atl at home. Balt one of those solid teams with lots of vets who know how to win. Nothing flashy, but effective. Obviously, as a Pittsburgh fan, I cannot stand Balt, but gotta respect what they are doing with what looks like a pretty weak roster on paper. Will be a surprise 4-0 team after this weekend.
 
Balt has eeked out wins against two 0-2 teams and one 1-2 team...not that impressive. They are doing what needs to be done and beating who is on the schedule, but they are getting gifts from the nfl w this schedule. If 3 or 3.5 is there, will def take a closer look at Oak.


That Denver line stinks...they just dropped 29 points on a supposed tough D and now go to the Bucs who just made the Rams look like they have an offense...

Dallas line doesn't look right either. Everyone down on SF and up against Murica's team w the beloved Dak and Zeke. And you can get -3 for + money...stinky.

Minny line looked odd to me. They just went into a tough place and shut down an O that avg 31 at home last year. Now at home against a team that lost Vereen for the year (HUGE loss, imo) and Eli Apple and Rodgers-Cromartie both hurt. Not sure their status, but a hammy and groin are tough injuries for cb's. It has risen to 5 which makes me feel better. Wonder if Minny lets down a little? Do you Minny guys have an opinion on your team and their mindset/possible let down?

Not worried about a letdown spot with Zimmer in charge. He's been good about keeping them fairly consistent. Also, very veteran team which helps too. Good leadership in the locker room. But that's why they play the game. I think the defense will always keep them in the game. Home crowd will be jacked.
 
I do not like Eli when he faces these kind of defenses...he's at his worst.

Love the guy bc he's brought two SB's to my team with two clutch performances, but man he gets scared like a little girl sometimes.

i wouldn't be either. Love Zimmer and really like this team, but unfortunately haven't made any money on them and while they're cheap this week it seems they're not gonna be underpriced for long

if i am jimmy, im complaining about shoulder soreness all day. let JB start. this dude was lights out for 6 quarters and has put himself in position to be paid like crazy. his stock can only go down at this point. let JB play agaisnt buffalo and Brady the rest of the year, and get a $75 million deal this offseason.

Dolphins really struggled last year whenever Brandon Albert was out. They are going to have zero run game tonight and Tanne should be getting blindsided a lot, should be some good oppurtunities for turnovers in the backfield leading to defensive scores.
