Week 3 What Are We Learning

I can’t recall a season where there were so many bad teams. The laundry list of injuries already doesn’t help.
Dallas just went from a top tier team to what? Defense got manhandled and Dak looks like Dak. Was Miami that good or Denver that bad? 70pts is more of a reflection of how bad the league is.

Denver is that bad, and Miami is that good.

Dallas is back to the Jekyll and Hyde shit again, that's coaching.

Josh Allen had a 79.9 passer rating. Bills won on the road 37-3. Think they're OK.

Garrett had 3.5 sacks and Watson looked good today. Browns are a good team.

Everyone will be talking about Dallas but the Ravens lost at home to Minshew and the Colts by going for it and failing on 4th and 4 from midfield in OT, and the Jags lost big at home to CJ Stroud and the Texans. Two losses that were as bad or worse.

Detroit held Bijon and Algeier to 17 carries for 45 yards. Pretty impressive.

Chargers/Vikings hitting the under 52.5 when there's 950 yards of offense is just one of the sickest beats.

That's a brutal beat on total.

I feel cheated in Dallas game with a live over.

26 first first downs and two their RZ trips = 0 points.

My biggest futures bet was Jags to win division 3u @-165. Obviously long way to go but to get crushed by Texans at home looks fing bleak. Right now they stink.

Staley decision should be firing offense. Not sure O'Connell not spiking the ball after getting the 1st down with 31 seconds and no TOs wasn't even worse. Watching the last few minutes of that game i was absolutely stunned by the stupidity of coaches. Shouldn't be.

And looks like Peyton not the answer in Denver. Ive never seen a defense get obliterated like that. And what's worse, to my untrained eye i never saw them try anything different like blitzing. I dont think theyll have to wash Tuas uniform.

Betting Bears not to make playoffs at -205 is best bet ive ever made. Of course i only bet 1u vs max 5u. Was 42 - 1 before todays game. Our friend Big-Units catch. Told me to do Denver too at -220 and parlay them but i was too scared of Peyton impact lol.

McCarthy running like 5 straight plays in red zone with under 4 and down 12 was another bit of brilliant coaching. Like it was the 1q or something. Simply amazing.

Fucking lose survivor pick on Jax. Looked at the schedule and almost took Dallas, but thought nah. They probably will drop one. Niffel….

Jameis is the most likeable guy in the league and should be a solid 2. He’s just not, man. Sucks.

Teams are gonna drop games here and there. Even the “good” ones. We got alotta fugazi teams out there.

Yes, these last two weeks are pretty disappointing for the Jags.

With that being said, I feel like they will rebound.

Peak back last year at their topsy turvy start.

The Colts being 2-1 doesn't scare me at all.

With that being said, we need to win 2 of the next 3 .... then survive for a few weeks and turn it on after that.

We say it every year, but these coaches who get paid MILLIONS simply don't have common sense half the time.

Is what it is, cap it in.

We know Staley will do stupid things.

Fat kid in Dallas is worth a few extra losses a year.

Buffalo coach looks brilliant when they are blowing teams out, not so much in tight 2nd halves when he makes weird decisions.

Just a few examples...

How does Staley still have a job? I know they say it’s a “cheap” franchise but fuck me man.

Woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday because most of the shit that happened yesterday had to be a dream. All the way til the very end of the night.

I hardly ever watch any sports talk tv but might have to today on principle.

OK, the Cowboys.....this is probably the only game Bidwill will let the Cards try for a full 4 qtrs. Caleb is calling. Lets look at the numbers:

Offense, 416 yards, 75 plays, 34:33 TOP, 9-16 3rd down, 185 yards rushing at 5.6 ypc. All good to very good numbers.

5.5 yards per pass attempt, red zone TD% 20%, only 3 plays over 20 yards and none over 32. All poor numbers.

Offensively this team has no trouble moving the ball between the 20s. The redzone has become an issue. It seems to be a combination of McCarthy's play calling and no receiver separation. McCarthy's offense has been operating under a "take what's given" mentality for three weeks now. That's great when there's room to operate. But in the red zone nothing is given and there's no room. You have to create space, and McCarthy's pass calls were pretty vanilla one on one routes where a guy had to win his matchup. Except they haven't had that kind of WR since Amari left.

McCarthy showed a bit of panic late in the 3rd quarter passing up the FG on 4th down from the 4 when down only 8. You take the points there. He also showed his colors on that last drive calling for consecutive runs on 1st and goal from the 5 then 2nd and goal from the 7 with under 4 minutes left. The run game was working until then....I can excuse the first down run since the last two had gained five and six yards so the line was pushing well. But after getting stuffed you have to go away from it for both workability and clock reasons. He appeared to be out of ideas at that point.

They need to expand the red zone playbook ASAP. KC has dozens of plays ready to go in that area. Dallas looked like they had about 3.

Defense, 400 yards allowed on 53 plays in only 25 minutes, a pretty poor effort. Included in this were a 69 yard catch and run from M Wilson (what is it about Dallas giving up long plays to WRs named Wilson?), a 45 yard TD scamper from Rondale Moore and a 44 yard QB run from Josh Dobbs. Just a poor day doing just about anything expect slowing down Zach Ertz. I suppose the D could've been distracted by the Diggs injury, but still that's not a good excuse. Back to the drawing board.

Luckily, they get a winnable game next week hosting New England. Zeke will be back in town which should keep emotions high. They need to wash off the stench before heading to the coast for their big Sunday night tilt with the Niners. Did I forget to mention the 13 penalties? Yeah that happened.

Browns are a legitimate contender if Watson plays like he did yesterday. The defense is legit and the QB was all that was holding them back. Titans should go full tank and finally get a QB.

Lions had to win that game but I need to see more before thinking they are any better than mediocre which should be enough to win their division anyway. Still that was a big win for a franchise that has so few of them historically. Atlanta is going to have a tough time moving forward unless Ridder shows something. Just stack the box and make that team throw and they will consistently show that they can't.

How did the Saints choke that one away. Great defense but don't trust either Carr or Winston. Miracle win for Green Bay but I still think the upside is limited with LaFleur as coach.

As long as Tua goes untouched he will put up huge numbers with that speed on the outside. Still expect him to go down at some point and don't think that arm plays in the cold but for now he's been great. Payton feels like he's just in it for the money and he's not into it; looks a lot like Urban in Jacksonville.

Chargers vs Vikings is the ultimate matchup of teams that will do everything necessary to lose but the Chargers won because someone had to. We know Spanos is historically cheap but they just can't continue to waste Herbert with that loser of a coach. As for the Vikings its time to move on from Cousins and fire the coaching staff after the season.

Now on to the Jets. As far as I'm concerned the season ended when Rodgers went down. Saleh should have to live and die with Zach and when the season ends the next housecleaning begins. I am undecided on the GM Douglas but Saleh absolutely has to go. The next coach has to be an offensive coach with Ben Johnson at the top of my list. Let the next coach pick his QB and if he wants to bring back Rodgers for another year while the draft pick learns thats fine but if the new coach doesn't want Aaron thats fine by me. Rodgers must have no say in anything which means his incompetent pal Hackett is gone and Cobb finally retires. The Patriots showed nothing but have a real coach while the Jets have nothing but clowns on the sideline.

The one thing that would make me move on from the GM is the offensive line being one of the worst in the league. Rodgers was never going to last the season behind that line which is a serious indictment of the GM. Its inexcusable to bring in a 39 year old QB and have that offensive line protecting him.

Bills won big which is no surprise but Allen has to play better against the better defenses. Big game for him this week against Miami. I guess we can slow down the praise for Bieneimy and Howell for that matter.

Stroud has been far better than I expected which is the story for the Texans. Jags seem to have a few games like this where they no show so its not totally unexpected but thats a game they really shouldn't lose.

Colts with a big win over the Ravens. Ravens always seem to play tight games and when games are close you will drop a few to lesser teams.

Seahawks win and cover against the Panthers. I had Seattle so that was good but would have rather faced Bryce who hasn't been impressive at all and looks like the wrong pick at number one overall. Funny how short QBs would never get drafted so high but that ended with Baker I guess.

KC vs Chicago not much to say other than Chicago is the big favorite to be drafting first overall where they will pick Caleb and dump Fields which is a very easy decision.

Dallas vs Arizona as I've been saying for weeks Arizona was playing with fire being so competitive. In order to rightfully tank you need to play like Chicago an Arizona has just been too good. Dallas is still coached by McCarthy and that is still not a good thing. They are a talented team but McCarthy still sucks and Dak is not an upper echelon QB so the upside is limited.

Steelers beat the Raiders in a matchup of marquis franchises but mediocre teams. Pickett doesn't impress me at all and I still don't understand why anyone thinks McDaniels should be a head coach.

Blaming your fans for the loss is a novel approach that I'm sure many coaches will be watching closely.

Browns d is no freaking joke!! No secret how little I think of tannenhill and the titans offense but holding them under 100 total yards?!?? That impressive against any nfl team besides the bears!! 38 to 21 top, 341 yards to 94 yards!! Without Chubb or a run game.

Along with that I saw watson actually making throws yesterday, I didn’t watch enough to know if he still missing layups but he only had 6 incompletions so couldn’t been missing many! He has to be that dude he was, especially now without Chubb but he looked the part yesterday. Bengals better hope burrow can play and play well or they gonna end up being on the bottom this division! Worst coach, looks like the d has taken a step back, hate to say it but they gonna need Burrow to be Superman and the dude gonna keep getting hurt this year!!
