Week 14 What Are We Learning

Washington won’t sniff another win (or possibly another cover) this season.

Context to how bad Washington is right now. Before today it had been 22 possessions since Minnesota last found the end zone.

Today: 8 possessions (1 end of half, 1 end of game so they don’t really count), 4 TDs, 1 FG, and a punt

And don’t even get me started on their decision to play Jayden Daniels today 🤬

Might have been my 2 favorite BILLS wins back to back since the SB years ...
This team has been decimated by injuries , but they just keep playing with that tired cliche " Next man up" ...

Don't think they beat the Patriots this week , but who knows

In a year where Packers-Cowboys went 40-40, and where Tampa won in Seattle 38-35, Bills-Bengals in the snow was the most entertaining game of the year.

Teams that need a QB next year:
Jets - they have the picks to get a QB they love
Steelers - I think Rodgers is done after this year.
Colts - Don't think Jones will be ready at the beginning of next season. They can't go back to Richardson. Might be a landing spot for a Cousins or Kyler.
Raiders - Who knows what they'll do.
Cardinals - writing is on the wall for Kyler.

Teams that should stick with what they have on the roster:
Dolphins - Tua can be confounding but as long as Daniels is there Tua is the best fit for his timing/misdirection game.
Browns - Yesterday confirmed for me that Shadeur is worth keeping, while Stefanski isn't.
Titans - Not sure their new coach will agree but Cam has shown enough flashes to earn a longer growth period.
Vikings - McCarthy needs to give some love to his receivers but some growth is being shown.
Falcons - Another Browns situation - I like Penix, don't like his coach.
Saints - Shough is 2-3 as a starter. He outplayed Baker yesterday which is saying something.

The other 21 teams are basically set at QB for 2026. Unless Stafford retires.

Before the Chiefs are fully buried remember the 8-4 Chargers have the Eagles tonight, then go to KC, then to Dallas, then host the Houston juggernaut, and finish at Denver who will probably be playing for #1 seed. 8-5 Indy has Riley Leonard going to Seattle, facing the Niners, a rematch with the Jags and at Houston. Both teams are potentially 10-7 or worse. The Chiefs will need to pass both of them assuming the Houston roll continues, which at this point I have no doubt that they will end up at least 10-7 with the Cardinals, at Vegas, at Chargers and hosting the Colts left on their schedule.

The Chiefs host the Chargers, go to 2-11 Tennessee, host the Donkeys and finish at 2-11 Vegas. They win out and they'll have the tiebreak on Indy and likely pass them. If the Chiefs and Chargers end up 10-7 the Chiefs own the tiebreak based on common games as long as the Chargers lose at Denver. If the Chargers beat Denver week 18 then they own the division tiebreak.

By the letter of the law the league probably got the Likely play right. The rule requires either a "football move" OR the TIME after control and two feet are down to suggest that a football move could have been made. The third foot down is the league's rule of thumb in regard sufficient time, although that is not actually written into the rule.

HOWEVER, the roughing the snapper call was an abomination. Even in Pittsburgh they are admitting as such. And that was the difference between the Ravens being down 5 late or being down only 1. Or kicking a short FG on 4th down vs going for it.

The Rodgers self-catch was also bizarre. My assumption is when we're told "maintain possession through the ground" is that you need to maintain it all the way to when your body is down, not when just your knees hit. I didn't see enough from Rodgers to suggest he had completed the catch process in what seemed like a shorter period of time than it took Likely to try to complete that third step. The explanation by the league did not even address that third part of the catch process. NFL says Aaron Rodgers completed the catch process, was down by contact

Allen is playing out of his mind. That td throw to Shakir is mind boggling. Defense is middle of the road but is capable of making splash plays. Benford b2b weeks with crazy plays not sustainable. D has been showing up 2ndh though. Overall not the best Bills version down the stretch (especially defensively) but I think the competition is such a drop from peak KC/Ravens that they are live!

That TD pass to Shakir was insane, I'm not sure I've ever seen a more difficult throw from Allen ( which is hard to imagine ) ...

Agree while this Bills team isn't their best , the rest of the AFC is not Peak Chiefs Ravens ..

I'm thinking the AFC this year comes down to either the best QB in the dance or the best defense. Whether the QB is Allen or Maye, and whether the defense is the Texans or the Broncos, are really good debates. Can any of them beat the NFC Champ? I'm doubting it at this time.
As great as Maye has been he's got a ways to go before he should be compared to Allen. They do have a big advantage having Vrabel and not a dope like McDermott so they've got that going for them. Still let Maye win a big game before he gets annointed as the next Brady.

I doubt the AFC wins it this year, as well.

Yeah everyone seems to be crowning Maye as a goat or at least elite ...Hope he is bc my youngest and I invested in a boat load of his rookie cards 🤣🤣..

Wasn't that long ago that Boston dude was telling us Mac Jones was the next Brady ( he's probably better than half the starters in the league though lol)

Anyways , Vrabel is better than Mcdermott , but if this Bills team gets healthy for the playoffs look out ...
Right now Houston is the team I hope the BILLS avoid in January...

I'm on a rematch of Pats/Seahawks at this point but Rams/Seahawks would make for a fun NFC 'ship that would challenge great offensive mind v great defensive mind to see how they do it for the third time in a season. AFC looks like complete chaos.

Still on Ravens vs Lions and neither would be in the playoffs if the season ended today
Lions STILL have the most PPG in the NFL.

That's with a dud in week #1 in GB and another on SNF vs Philly.

That's despite the OL having a lot of injuries.

Add in playing the last month without Sam Laporta.

Gibbs is playing some historical ball right now and as much hate as he gets, Goff produces when the OL gives him some help.

The amount of injuries in the secondary really sucks.

Add in the pass rush is highly inconsistent and that's why they won't go to far.

Detroit should get beaten pretty easily this week.

The job then is to win your home finale and not stumble at Minnesota.

Do that, and Week 18 has a 93% chance of being a "win and in" scenario.
