Week 13 What Did We Learn

I’m convinced most of the coaches in the game today don’t know their ass from their elbow and this includes guys in the pros. Between play calling and clock management ( or lack thereof) it’s like these guys have never been around the game or played all their lives.

My buddy and I have a thing we always say that we got into the wrong profession. It’s pathetic how bad these guys are. I see it so much, every week.

In the ND Clemson game couple weeks back Brian Kelly was completely clueless until some coach, looked like a grad assistant came running down to tell him what do, think it was decline a penalty late. Something extremely important though that was common sense.

Today, I suffered through the Michigan game but imo the worst in game coach in football James Mr Peanut Franklin did two things that we were cracking up texting each other.
- 4th and 1, PSU ball. Mich has 12 guys on the field, all they have to do is snap it. They don’t, screw around for 15 seconds and kid has false start so 4&6. Tops it off by attempting 50yd fg that’s not even close. Dude, you’re 0-5, up 7, grow a pair.

- End of half PSU has 3 timeouts and driving with 1:28 left, ball at Mich 27 after muffed punt Runs a play, immediately calls TO. That’s laughable as if you are saving time for Michigan. 1:23 left, first down on pass play, takes timeout Hahahaha 1:09 left. 1st and goal at 5 now with 46 seconds left, orders a spike of the ball wasting a down!!! Hahaha Still a time-out left. Plenty of time can still call a run, fires two passes into back of end zone and kicks fg. Never used 3rd TO but wasted a down from 5 with spike. This is high level stupidity.
I’m sure there was more but after 3 hours of watching that game my eyes hurt too much. That was almost as dumb as Harbaugh continuing to throw around the ball with injured, ineffective QBs when you’ve run all over the defense.

Oh the Big10 got even worse today if that’s possible. NW lost at Sparty, IU lost Pennix for the year and OSU is next weeks cancellation away from missing out on big10 championship and imo the playoff (I’d never put a team who only played 5/6 games in it if others played 10 or more). The Big10 and some extent Pac12 ruined CFB this year. At least Kevin Warren got Biden in(yes, that’s what it was all about).

I didn't learn much...

I did learn that life is cruel...

Liberty TT game over loses at 2 yard line to end it
Florida 2h tt loses at 1 yard line
Northwestern AST 2h loses on last play of game
TAMU ATS loses on a garbage TD in last minute of a shutout.

Good times to be had by all.

We can discuss in rankings thread but who the heck is gonna be 4th team?

I think ND and Clemson should both make it as long as Clem wins the rubber match.

OSU won't qualify it looks like.

Bama is obviously locked in, even with a loss.

So, things should get interesting.

unless gators beat bama the 4th team should be winner of byu/cincy, assuming they make that game happen. Unfortunately what should happen and what usually happens not the same.

I don’t care to see some non conf champ power 5 get clobbered by Bama, why not let us see what byu can do (yes I think they would beat cincy). The fact the crooked nitwit committee put them 14 pretty much says they have no chance despite the fact they be favored over more than half the teams those clowns put in front of them, the schedule not their fucking fault!!

Duke lost 5 more turnovers yesterday, bringing their total lost to 30 in 9 games! They don't have the worst margin though, that would be Louisville -14.

The right line matters. In the hours leading up to UK-UF I see anything from 23.5-24.5 available. Of course UF could've won by more than 24 if they wanted to, they kinda tried.

East Carolina scored on every 1st H possession! I haven't seen an ECU D play like that in many years. SMU 2nd H was an easy play though.

Kent State lost by 29 and allowed 70 points, but Kent did hurt themselves a few times. At the end of the 1st H 4th-and-1 at the B17 they threw incomplete down 11. After the teams traded TDs in the 3rd, Kent still trailing by 11 punted on 4th-and-1 from their own 34. Up to that point UB drove for TD or FGA on 7 of their previous 9 drives. Kent punted and UB scored TDs on their next 4 possessions. Kent likely wasn't going to ever win that game, but two 4th and 1 calls did shape the outcome somewhat.

Bowling Green was the last team in FBS to throw a TD pass. They did so yesterday at Ohio. They also lost 52-10.

Oklahoma State on 4th-and-1, were killing clock, RB broke through the LOS and slid down inside the 5 to win by 6 (anywhere from 10.5-12 pt favorite)

Ball State dominated Toledo last season and did so again in the 1st H, although Toledo tried to make a comeback in the 2nd H.

So much for that Vandy offense

Akron's losing streak is up to 21 straight

UTSA posted school records 443 rushing and 624 total yards. Sincere McCormick takes over #1 spot in total rushing yards in the nation (1345). Buffalo's Jarrett Patterson leads in yards per game at 230.

Clemson scored 31 points in the 1st Q, the most by Clemson ever in the 1st.

San Diego State started their game 1 starter Carson Baker, but they relieved him for Jordan Brookshire for his first action of the year which was forgettable. The QB vs Nevada, Lucas Johnson was unavailable. SD St was also without leading RB Greg Bell, although RB is very deep position for Aztecs.

Navy hadn't played since 10/31 and wasn't able to fully practice until Monday of last week. Their defensive performance was impressive in defeat.

TCU scored twice on defense

Arizona QB Grant Gunnell was injured on the first play of the game, they turned to true freshman Will Plummer who wasn't ready for primetime action. He is Purdue QB's brother.

MWC's #1 WR in yards, ypc, ypg and TDs, Romeo Doubs, was held to one catch vs Hawaii.

Three games were canceled yesterday (UVA-FSU, SJSU-Boise, UTEP-Rice). That is a big problem. You have teams that incur travel and lodging expenses only to have their game canceled on gameday. San Diego State - Colorado was delayed 30 minutes for last minute SD St testing (to adhere to PAC12 protocol).

I saw the dumbest play by a QB of all time. One so dumb I didn't believe it was possible.

Syracuse led most of the game but was down 7, first and goal at the NC St 9, just under a minute to play. First play a run for 2 yards, second play a run is stuffed, third play QB wants to pass, keeps retreating, and gets sacked. That shows world class stupidity. Even in junior high every QB practices this and the coach explains over and over how you throw the ball away if you don't see anyone open and how you NEVER take a sack. Loses 11, clock keeps running, now fourth and goal at the 20

Then the same genius QB hurries up to the line and spikes the ball

I thought that was impossible. Dino Babers has had a very good rep at an offensive coach and has succeeded everywhere he's coached. There are no crowds there so a QB has no problem hearing instructions from the bench. The guy is a junior, was rated in the top 40 QBs in the country in high school.

And yet he spikes the ball on fourth down with the game on the line

Syracuse QB inexplicably spikes ball on fourth-and-goal to lose game (Video)

- It has been, is and will remain stupid to have a QB in the shotgun on 4th and a 1/2 yard. The QB sneak is ignored, idiotically, over and over and over.
- To that point, Sam Ehlinger has been a starting QB at Texas for 4 years.
- He has never been under center, once. Once.
- A&M is a good team, a top 10 one. But that's it. Mond and their offense are a WIP on a good day. I wlll say this about its defense - Brett Venables would be proud. The pre-snap motion and movement are outstanding. At a different level than most college defenses - creates havoc and disarray on the offensive end. I don't know who the A&M DC is. But he is good.

I was on the bad side of every one of these

oregon's defense is pretty bad and it seems they returned like everyone from a stellar defense last year and the same defensive coordinator. Their offense they replaced everyone and it seems better than last years team.

There seems to be alot of bad football teams this year in my opinion and not many you can count on week to week.

Add Chargers TT today finished game at the 1

Impressive stuff

It was almost a miracle they got there, but once they were there it was incompetence on a level rarely seen, unless one watches a lot of Charger football games.

I learned that Nintendo has obviously released an updated college version of Super Tecmo Bowl that includes Buffalo & Kent St.

After losing money due to cancelled games counted as losses for almost parlays at heritage I placed a few teaser bets at Twin River Sportsbook in Rhode Island.

Hoping somebody more knowing than I can clarify what happens if I place a 6 team 7 point tease where I win 5 and the 6th game is cancelled?

This is on their wagering rules.

Any straight wager deemed "no action" will be refunded. If a parlay has a leg that is deemed "no action", the parlay will reduce by one (1) selection (i.e. four (4) team parlay becomes a three (3) team parlay, and a two (2) team parlay becomes a straight wager).

I couldn't find any specific mention of teaser cancellation. Is a teaser a "type" of parlay?

I’ve always liked betting on Good teams with high spreads.....especially top 10 ranked teams......but ived now come to loved betting against the Worst and Baddest teams......the first thing I looked at each week now is who those Bad teams playing against.......

My book drops the canceled game, like your parlay scenario.

This season has been a revelation, one of my favorite seasons ever.

For one thing, it shows how many Power 5 teams inflate how good they are by starting every year with three sure wins by paying Group of 5 and lower division cupcakes to come in and get rolled.

Plus they now have to play a conference game every week with no byes before their biggest rivals. Teams like Michigan and Penn State have been exposed. In a normal year--we'll use Penn St as an example--they start the year with 3 guaranteed wins, all at home, then maybe Maryland, who is 2-1, then Iowa, who has also played 3 cupcakes and win a close one, then a bye then Michigan. They win a close one over Michigan and everyone pats them on the back, wow, 6-0, what a team. Michigan loses, but they say, hey, sure we lost but to an undefeated 6-0 team and we are good too because we are still 5-1 and our only loss is to an undefeated team.

Not singling Penn State or Michigan out because all Power 5 teams are doing the same thing, but this year we see what the Michigan/Penn State outcome looks like without the 3 guaranteed wins they buy.

I haven't checked it to make sure, but I just saw on ESPN that this is the first time in a decade Alabama has played Auburn without either a buy or a cupcake game the week before. And all Power 5 teams do that.

And add me to the skeptics above when it comes to what the Big 10 is willing to do to make sure Ohio State gets into the CFP. My guess is there is nothing they won't do

The SEC did the same thing. Just take a look at the schedule for Arkansas and Miss State and compare it to the schedules the elite SEC teams play. No question what the SEC had in mind when they made up the patchwork schedule after covid appeared

So even though I love every season, I have a special feeling for this one because it's exposing how the elite teams do business

Even before Covid, the SEC wasn't going to allow a team to play an FCS team the week before rivalry week. Alabama was originally scheduled to play aTm the week before AU

Was this an inaugural season for that? SEC fans have griped for years about the competition the week before rivalry week.

Yes I believe so. I think some of the other conferences have a rule that all non-conference games have to be played in the first 4-6 weeks of the season. No such rule in the SEC and schools used it to their advantage. I looked at last year, and Alabama, AU, Kentucky, Vandy, and Miss St all had a non-P5 opponent before Thanksgiving week

Some notes from the Big Xll weekly release:

Forty-nine percent (18-37) of Big 12 contests have been decided by a touchdown or less, which is second among autonomy leagues
Big 12 defenses are allowing opposing offenses an average of 381.3 yards per game, which leads the nation’s five autonomy conferences
The Conference is second in scoring defense with teams allowing a combined average of 28.8 points per contest. West Virginia is fourth nationally in total defense with 274 yards allowed per game, followed by Oklahoma at No. 19 (326.6), Iowa State at No. 28 (346.4) and TCU at No. 34 (355.9). WVU is 14th nationally, allowing 17.8 points per game
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma rank in the top-four of third down conversion percentage defense. OSU is No. 2 nationally, allowing a conversion rate of 24.6%, while OU is fourth at 27.1%
Iowa State has defeated both Oklahoma and Texas in the same season for the first time in program history. The Cyclones are 7-1 in conference play for the first time in school history.
Kansas’ defense held TCU quarterbacks to 6-of-15 (40%) throwing for the lowest completion percentage allowed by KU this season. The Jayhawks forced TCU to punt seven times, the most punts forced by the defense in 2020.
Kansas State tallied seven sacks in the contest at Baylor. It was two shy of the school record and the most in a game by the Wildcats since coming away with eight at Baylor in 2003.
Oklahoma junior defensive end Ronnie Perkins has 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss in his three games since missing the season’s first five contests
Oklahoma State’s Dezmon Jackson made his first career start and rushed for 235 yards, the fourth-highest total by an OSU running back in the Mike Gundy era.
TCU’s 59 points in the victory over Kansas were its most in a Big 12 game since winning 62-22 at Baylor in 2016. The Horned Frogs rushed for a season-high 337 yards and are 4-0 this season when totaling at least 200 yards on the ground.
With four offensive plays going for 20-or-more yards against Iowa State, Texas has totaled 42 plays of 20-or-more yards during the 2020 season (11 rush, 31 pass). The Longhorns have recorded 15 offensive plays that resulted in gains of at least 40 yards this season.
Texas Tech came close to having two 100-yard rushers at OSU as SaRodorick Thompson totaled 133 yards on the ground followed by Xavier White with 98 yards. It marked the fourth career 100-yard rushing performance of Thompson’s career
West Virginia RB Leddie Brown has five 100-yard rushing performances this season and seven in his career. Brown has rushed for 150 or more yards in a game twice this season

How about that Kansas one! Good job...but you still lost by 36 Jayhawks.

Notes from Mountain West Conference release:

Boise State is riding a 13-game Mountain West win streak, tied for the second-longest active streak nationally. Ohio State owns the longest conference win streak with 19 consecutive Big Ten victories
Colorado State punter Ryan Stonehouse holds a career punting average of 46.7, which would be the NCAA career record if the season ended today. The current record is 46.31.
Fresno State RB Ronnie Rivers, who has scored at least one touchdown in 12 consecutive games, has scored 35 career rushing touchdowns, tied for sixth-most among active FBS players.
In his last four games, Hawai‘i QB Chevan Cordeiro has thrown for 1,118 yards and nine touchdowns, while adding over 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns with his feet.
Nevada WR Romeo Doubs ranks in the top-12 nationally in three major statistical receiving categories: fourth in receiving yards per game (131.3), eighth in receiving touchdowns (9) and 12th in receiving yards (788).
San Diego State owns one of the nation’s top defenses, ranking third in total defense (269.8), eighth in scoring defense (16.2) and 10th in rushing defense (90.0).
San José State is off to its first 4-0 start since 1955 and is looking to open 5-0 for the first time since 1939. A victory over Hawai‘i on Saturday would give the Spartans their first six-game win streak since the 2012-13 seasons
The Spartans are one of just 10 FBS programs with an undefeated record through at least four games in 2020.
UNLV freshman WR Kyle Williams is averaging 5.0 receptions per game, tied for third-most by a FBS freshman this season
Utah State senior Savon Scarver has tallied six career kickoff returns for a touchdown, which is the second-most in Mountain West history. The record is currently held by Rashaad Penny (San Diego State; 2014-17)
On Nov. 30, Utah State’s QB Andrew Peasley, LB Nick Heninger and PK Connor Coles earned MW Players of the Week honors. The Aggies are the first program to sweep the Conference’s weekly awards since Sept. 11, 2017 (San Diego State)
Wyoming has rushed for at least 100 yards in 24 consecutive games. This season, the Cowboys have been led by Xazavian Valladay on the ground, who leads the Conference with 122.8 rushing yards per game, a figure that ranks ninth nationally
The Cowboys lead the Mountain West with a nine-game home win streak, tied as the ninth-longest active streak in FBS. Wyoming will close the 2020 season with a home contest against Boise State on Dec. 12. The last home defeat was suffered on Oct. 20, 2018.

This Notre Dame team is better than the one that got in two years ago. D-line is weaker, but O is much better. If, as you suggest, the Buckeyes miss out, my pick for a fourth team right now would be the Gators.

Since the Gamecocks are apparently scared to play us, I'd like to see my Tigers take applications from playoff aspirants for a game in Death Valley on December 12. Give BYU or UC or someone else a chance to impress the Committee.

Of course, teams liek UF and USC have used it to their disadvantage by losing to Georgia Southern and The Citadel while hoping to gain an advantage over their ACC rivals.

I can't remember what year it was, but an FCS option team (Georgia Southern?) ran for like 350 yards against Alabama in a year they had the nation's #1 defense. All I could think was that we were going to lose players to knee injuries from cut blocks.

The funny thing is that all those we played Paul Johnson (twice one year), we never had a knee injury to a Clemson lineman.

LV outgained BC 501-435, but as often has happened this year LV was hurt by -2 TO margin and BC had to finish the game without their starting QB and RB. LV fumbled on back-to-back possessions in the 1st H giving BC the ball near midfield and translating to 10 BC pts. BC had to settle for two short FGs from inside the 10 yard line, Eagles led 13-10 HT. BC's first drive of game ended in fumble at the LV04. BC led 20-13 before Jurkovec was hurt and did not return. 2019 starter Grossel replaced him. On Grossel's first full series he busted a 44y run on 3rd down and would throw a TD pass to make it 27-13 early 4th Q. LV converted 4th down and would make it 27-20 with under 8min to go. A strong KO return set up BC at midfield and Grossel threw his second TD...34-20 4min left. LV's first play of their next possession hit a 69y TD pass. BC was forced to punt with 3min left, but got an INT to end the game. Cunningham threw 19-31-296-2-1 and led in rushing 17att-133. WR Fitzpatrick caught 8-182. Before injury Jurkovec went 15-19-203-0-0, Grossel in relief 4-7-44-2-0 and added 49y rushing. BC did struggle on 3rd down going just 4-of-12 to LV's 58%. Each team was just 50% getting TDs in the RZ.

Georgia Tech about ran for as many yards (377) as Duke had total yards (382). Both teams fell on a fumble in the EZ for non-offensive TDs in the 1st H, Duke also registered a sack for a safety. GT was winning just 28-26 HT and despite David Cutcliff's confidence his team was "about to play their best football of the season" or something like that he said to the sideline reporter, instead Duke turned the ball over 3 straight times in the 3rd Q! Although GT only converted one of those three TOs into points, for the game Duke lost 5 TOs which GT converted into 21 points (two short fields and fall on fumble in EZ) GT lost 3 TOs which Duke turned into 10 points (FG after gaining zero yards and fall on fumble in EZ). GT outscored them 28-7 2nd H. GT converted 64% 3rd down to Duke's 35%.

Notre Dame is 32-3 since the beginning of 2018. ND has held 6 straight teams under 100y rushing (UNC was averaging 233 rushing ypg) and this was the first game that UNC was held below 400 total yards (held 160y below avg). UNC was shut out in the 2nd H for the first time this season. This was the first loss for UNC in the new Mack Brown era 2019-2020 by more than 7 points. ND had a 478-298 TY edge and Irish D got 6 sacks. Both teams did struggle on 3rd down going a combined 6-for-22.

NC State did outgain Syracuse 408-257 even though Syracuse was in position to tie in the final seconds. NC State fumbled near the Cuse goal line after a 10p 75y drive and their next possession they threw an INT setting Orange up at NC05 which they got a FG out of. That is 7 points NCSt could've had and 3 points Syracuse shouldn't have had. Syracuse also had a KO ret TD. Cuse D did get 6 sacks and was +2 TO margin. Hockman 23-31-313-4-1, Thayer Thomas caught 9-102-3TDs. Culpepper got the start for Cuse 23-45-254-2-0. Taj Harris had a career day 13rec-146-TD. Neither team ran the ball well, Cuse ran for a net 4 yards! Sacks impacted the NCSt's figures, their top 2 RBs combined for 118y (4.2), but as a team they finished with just 95 net yards.

Alabama led 42-6 4th Q. Auburn scored with 4min left and did get the ball back with 2-1/2 minutes left and got a 1st down at the AL35, but after Nix was called for intentional grounding, any hope of a backdoor ended as Auburn was content to run the ball and let the clock expire. The total yards show Bama with just a 445-347 TY edge (8.4-4.3) and Bama only outrushed them 143-120 (5.3-2.9) however 125 of Auburn's yards came on their final 3 possessions of the game compared to the 148 yards their had on their six 1st H possessions. Seth Williams did drop a deep would-be TD pass before HT.

UK was leading 10-7 (UK TD set up by fumble on a short field), Cats dominating time of possession and keeping the Gator O on the sidelines in the 1st H but with about 1min before HT Kadarius Toney sparked the Gators with a 50y punt return TD. Florida limited UK to just 46 yards in the 2nd H and forced 3 turnovers. Florida ended the game at the UK01 and won by 24. Gators also missed a 45y FG in the game. Pitts returned after missing the past two games and caught 3 TDs.

Not only did Missouri win 41-0, but they outgained Vandy 603-196! Mizzou essentially scored on every possession except for a missed FG and a SOD at the V39.

Ole Miss was SOD at the State 8 yard line after a 8p 64y drive, but went up 7-0 on their next possession. Miss State had a FD at the OM04, but fumbled and it was ret'd 84y and 5 plays later OM was up 14-0! Although 1st Q yards were only 154-125 in Rebel's favor for the quarter (FDs even at 5 apiece). A 44y completion keyed State to a TD, but after a couple punts, Ole Miss went back up 21-7 on a 81y TD pass. Ole Miss was again inside the 10 yard line, but were SOD a second time after a 15p 71y drive. State drove 13p 93y for a TD with just :06 left in the half. 21-14. OM had a 341-258 1st H yard edge. OM was SOD for a third time this one at the State 21. OM was on a long drive to end the 3rd Q boosting their total yardage for the game at that point to 490 to 298. Rebels had 1st and goal at the 4, but after two rushes and a sack Kiffin opted for a 26y FG...24-14. The teams traded TDs 31-21 under 5min left. State had a 1st and goal at the 9, but had to settle for a 25y FG on a drive that saw a critical 4th-and-8 conversion. State forced a punt, getting the ball back with just :23 left at their own 20. They hit a 41y pass, then an 8 yarder and had a realistic shot at a hailmary in the EZ fall incomplete to end the game. Ole Miss finished with a 550-479 (6.7-6.1) TY edge including a 163-39 RY edge (3.6-2.4). State struggled on 3rd down 3-of-14 but were a perfect 3-for-3 on 4th down. Ole Miss was 8-of-18 on 3rd and good for 3 of their 5 4th down tries. There were 3 combined possessions end in zero points inside the 10 yard line and FGs of 25y & 26y keeping the overall scoring down.

LSU and Texas A&M finished the game with identical 267 total yards of offense! A&M did outrush them 162-36 (4.4-1.4)(Spiller 141 5.2). Hard to believe this isn't a misprint, but both teams were an identical 2-of-16 3rd down! Mond 11-34-105-0-0. Finley 9-25-118-0-2, Johnson 14-22-113-1-0(sacked 3x). Each team was SOD once in opposing territory, LSU threw INT in A&M territory and also missed a FG. Down 0-20, Tigers scored with just :38 left in the game. Aggies only score of the 2nd H was a 15y pick-six.

No team in the nation has more plays of 60+ yards this season than K-State (7)

From the Kansas State website, but Louisville is shown with 8 according to cfbstats. K St sports information department likely didn't have the latest data from Louisville's latest game. Still impressive and unexpected for this Wildcat team.

Since the Gamecocks are apparently scared to play us, I'd like to see my Tigers take applications from playoff aspirants for a game in Death Valley on December 12. Give BYU or UC or someone else a chance to impress the Committee.

good idea

Baylor got an INT on the second play of the game and a 3p 9y drive led to a 6-0 score less than one minute into the game. K ST scored on a 75y sweep on their first play of the next possession. Baylor fumbled a punt and it was soon 14-6. Was 17-6 HT with Baylor having just 88 yards of offense!. Baylor dominated the 3rd Q and pulled to within 17-15. K St hit a 49y pass on the first play of the 4th Q then Howard ran it in for the 24-15 lead. Baylor answered 24-22. Vaughn scored from 38 out to go up 31-22 9min left. Baylor again answered 31-29 with 4min left. K St ran twice then went incomplete on 3rd down forced to punt from their own 18, Baylor took over at the B31. Brewer ran once and appeared to fumble, but replay kept the ball with the Bears. Brewer then completed 4 straight passes to the K19 where Baylor started to set up for the FG, making a 30 yarder as time expired. 32-31 Bears. Baylor had a 420-344 (5.6-6.5) TY edge while K St outrushed them 256-71 (7.3-2.0). Baylor was SOD once in K St territory and kicked two FGs from inside the 15 (including the game winner). K St did settle for a FG from the 2 as well. K St D got 7 sacks. Howard 9-18-88-1-2, 41y rushing with TD. Vaughn 19-102-TD. Brewer 31-39-349-2-0, leading rusher 23-56y net-2TD.

A "throwback" Big Xll game broke out in Stillwater when Texas Tech came to town. This was the 8th time in the last 9 games between the two that have seen atleast 75 combined points. Texas Tech amassed a season high 639 yards and outgained OSU who finished with 539. TT had leads of 7-0 and 24-21 before OSU took control in the 2nd H. After OSU took a 21-17 HT lead, the 3rd Q saw five TDs over a 6 minute span! Eventually OSU got up 50-31 with under 9min left. TT scored a TD with 4min left, then after OSU recovered the onside kick they fumbled. TT converted 4th down twice scoring a TD with under 2min to go....50-44. Following another onside kick, OSU RB Jackson broke a 23y run on 4th down but slid at the 4 rather than scoring and Pokes took knees from there. While it must've felt good for the OSU O to have an offensive explosion, surely it didn't sit well with the Cowboy defense to allow so many yards and plays...all six of TT's TDs were 20 yards or more for an average Red Raider scoring play of 44 yards! OSU D did make some impactful plays, a 65y pick-six and a safety. TT was just 25% on 3rd down to OSU's 60%, but TT converted 4-of-5 4th down! With both Chuba Howard and LD Brown out, little used 3rd string RB Dezomd Jackson got the start with just 18 carries on the year. Vs TT he carried 36x! and ran for 235 (6.5) and 3 TDs. Sanders 19-31-222-1-1, 78y net rushing. Wallace 7rec-129-TD. Bowman 31-46-384-3-1. Thompson 17-133-2TD. Ezukanama caught 7rec-183-2TD.

Utah led 21-0 HT. Utah did fumble at the W36 on their first possession, but got an INT 6 plays later for the first TD (went 9p 48y converted 4th-and-4 at W42 along the way). After a few punts, Washington punted from their own EZ and Utah was able to go 5p 59y for their second TD. UW was called for delay of game then missed a 40y FG. Utah took that 8p 78y for their third TD of the half. Utes outgained them 241-122 in the 1st H. Utah didn't match their efficiency on O in the 2nd H as UW stepped up their game. UW scored to open the 3rd. Utah threw an INT which set up UW at the U27 leading to a 26y FG. 21-10. Bentley was stopped on 4th-and-1 at the W41 and Huskies took that 3p 58y to make it a 21-17 game late 3rd Q. Utah fumbled at the W12 on FD at a critical moment in the game. Whittingham said had they scored there he believed they would've won the game. Clinging to their lead, Bentley was sacked on 3rd down forcing a punt, UW took over at their own 12. UW would drive 12p 88y in 4min to take a 24-21 lead with just :36 left in the game. Utah was INT'd at the W30 with :07 to end the game. TY even as were ypp 360-359 (5.6-5.5). Utah outrushed them 215-88 (5.1-3.4). Utah lost 4 TOs, UW lost 3. Utah was 43% on 3rd down, UW was just 30%. Washington got 3 sacks, Utah 0. Bentley 16-23-144-1-2, 33y rushing with TD. Ty Jordan 10-97. Morris 23-38-272-2-3. Otton 8rec-108-2TD.

Ducks led 24-13 HT but with just 299-247 TY edge. Ducks struggled in the 2nd H only scoring two TDs to Beavers four TDs. Oregon lost 3 TOs, but only one was meaningful. Their first INT led to OSU being SOD 4 plays later at nearly the same spot on the field and Ore went on for a FG thereafter. The second INT did create a short field TD for Ore St. The third turnover, a fumble, was as time expired. Beavers outgained them 532-468. OSU RB Jermar Jefferson's 226y was a Civil War record. Oregon State went for 4th down 6x! Converted 4 including the game winning QB sneak by the back up QB Chance Nolan. Tristan Gebbia's injury is "significantly more serious" than thought unfortunately.

Georgia Southern played without their leading tackler (through 9 games) with Reynard Ellis opting out plus another starting LB Randy Wade (inactive) in addition to 4 suspended players who were arrested on drug charges. RB Wesley Kennedy was the big one, along with contributing players DT Wilson and LB Harris (not starters but key reserves) along with reserve DB Kitchen. GS lost RB King for the year a few games back, but returned Kennedy at the same time offsetting that loss. Now the top two are gone, they still have a very good third RB Logan Wright who now steps into the lead role. And that he did vs Georgia State with 143y on just 8 carries!

Georgia Southern (GS) came out playing well and led 14-3, 14-6 then after missing a FG. Georgia State (State) took over and converted a 4th-and-1 then got a 45y TD pass with just :46 to go in the half to make it 14-13. A 56y run by Wright on the first play of the 3rd Q set them up at the State 13, but they would have to settle for a 29y FG. The rest of the quarter was filled with punts unit GS got an INT and ret'd it to the State 37 and soon were in the EZ for the 24-13 lead as the 4th Q began. Some chunk plays through the air took State down the field for TD, 2pt no good...24-19 still early 4th. GS missed a 48y FG. QB Shai Werts was hurt on the drive. State worked down the field again through the air and finished it off on ground for their first lead since very early in the game....27-24. With Werts on the sideline, the backup QB was sacked and fumbled which State recovered at the 24 with under 3min left. The closing line at my outlet on this game was 3. GS had all 3 timeouts and they held State without a FD, but State made a 35y FG for the 30-24 score. GS ended the game with an INT by the backup. State did outgain them 427-370 (5.7-6.5), while GS rushed for 296 (6.3) to State's 55y (1.5), Cornellius Brown passed for 28-39-372-1-1 for State. Pinckney caught 10-126. Werts was 4-7-67-0-0 with 40 yards rushing before leaving the game late 4th Q to injury. Tomlin wasn't good in relief 2-3-7-0-1 and sacked fumbled.

South Alabama and Arkansas State played a tight 1st H with no team leading by more than 7 points and each team having the lead at least once. ASU broke a 14-14 tie with a 35y FG heading into the locker room, 17-14. ASU went up 24-14. USA converted a 4th-and-5 at their own 45 then connected on a 42y TD pass ..... 24-21. USA then kicked an onside kick and recovered! Their drive stalled and they missed a 48y FG. USA QB Trotter was sacked and injured prior to the FGA. ASU went 3-and-out and Tanner McGee enters the game for the Jags. He hit a critical 3rd down pass to keep a drive alive then threw a 37y TD pass to put the Jags up 28-24 end of 3rd Q! ASU drove down and threw a TD pass on 4th-and-goal to retake a 31-28 lead. USA then fumbled at the A18 early 4th Q. ASU went 3-and-out again. McGee kept the drive alive on another 3rd down completion then threw a 51y TD pass for the 35-31 lead late 4th Q! ASU went 4-and-out, being stopped on 4th-and-1 at the A31 with 3:20 left. USA was able to take 2min off the clock and kicked a 30y FG to lead 38-31 with just over 1min left. ASU quickly moved down to the SA11 with a first and goal and got to the SA06 before two incompletions (one an overthrow of a wide open receiver) and the final play ended in a sack as Hatcher was scrambling around. ASU barely outgained them 494-486 (6.8-6.4). Teams were similar on 3rd down (33-35%). USA was able to be perfect 3-for-3 on 4th down, ASU just 2-of-5. ASU has stud WR Jonathan Adams and he caught 9rec-138-2TD. But USA WR Jalen Tolbert caught 10rec-252-3TD! That is 65% of the teams receiving yards.

Troy 10, App State 47

BOONE, N.C. — When App State opened the second quarter with another touchdown, the point production outnumbered its opponent's yardage total.

The Mountaineers bounced back in emphatic fashion Saturday, bolstering their overall record and establishing several individual ones in a 47-10 home win against Troy in Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Zac Thomas tied his career high of four touchdown passes while throwing for 279 yards, App State (7-2, 5-1) finished with 554 total yards thanks to 275 more on the ground and Steven Jones returned an interception 34 yards for an early touchdown to highlight a defensive effort that limited the Trojans (4-5, 2-3) to 231 total yards and 125 passing yards — 177 below their season average. Of their 106 rushing yards, 47 occurred on the game's final drive.

Just copied that one over seems good enough. Man what happened to Troy? They suck. Just 40 points scored over their last 3 games, all losses. Troy O had been averaging 32ppg and 434 ypg their first 6...and that includes the 7 points and 191y at BYU. In their last 3 they have averaged just 286 and 13ppg.

Rivalry game this week, "Battle for the Belt". Will they get up for that?
