Week 11 What Are We Learning

New England will cruise to the playoffs.

As bad as the schedule has been, they are winning the games. That's all you can ask. They are a solid team!

Not too much here to worry about. A few games that will show us their potential in January.

Now, onto those Bears.

Credit to Johnson and the Bears -- they win the games they SHOULD. That's a big step for team trying to escape last place under a new coach.

They have yet to beat a potential playoff team -- but that's all part of the schedule! That's how the NFL works.

NOW, we are able to see what they are made of, as the schedule stiffens!

I think we see a 3-4 finish. Yes, 2-5 is possible but I'll go with 3-4 and that is a ten win season for the Bears. Huge for the program! I would assume a playoff spot then comes down to tiebreakers at that point. Week 18 could very well be for a playoff spot or even the division!

Only future i bet was KC Under 11.5 and almost there. Funny thing i think KC will be favored in their remaining games. Still think KC Baltimore can win AFC. Don't trust ne, Denver or indy. Seattle right there. 4 int and 4 fg and still almost won.

Seattle needed that type of game.

That's what I fear when Darnold plays a real defense. But, that's a learning game.

I keep calling him Sam Bradford too. Lol. But yeah he and Goff have reputations they need to overcome vs good D and pressure.
They aren't running QBs

They need good OLs.

I'll have my Detroit thoughts tonight -- but ole Jared was not set up for success last night. That was probably the worst coached game by Campbell since he's been here. That's a dramatic take but they wasted an incredible defensive game. RUN THE DAMN BALL!

Yeah they both need protection no doubt. Campbell getting crucified. Great coach just look what he's done. But his game management is just too aggressive reckless. If he could just adjust but don't think he will. They miss Ben for sure too.

Ben was great but behind the scenes even if he wasn't going to be a HC there was a lot of friction.

Ben was awful in the playoffs.

Dan is game #2 of calling plays was overwhelmed a bit. That will improve.

Again, run the ball 35 times instead of 18 and pass it 22 instead of 37 and you win that game.

Oh, speaking of DPI.

Obviously that last call was outrageous.

Detroit has exactly ZERO pass interference calls drawn this year. Yes, a big part is they scheme guys open so well.

yeah DPI needs to be reviewable - if I was Campbell or the DB I would have lost it.
I remember this BS early regular-season game several years ago, i believe a week 2 vs Chiefs involving a fumble near the end zone. Refs have often seemed to want to fuck over Detroit

Regarding KC

They look like shit. No question.

This week is huge.

But this midseason lull is not unprecedented for them.

2019 they lost 4 of 6 and stood 6-4. Never lost again.

2021 they were 3-4 off a 27-3 loss to Tennessee. Only lost to Cincy the rest of the way.

2023 lost 5 of 8 culminating in the Xmas Day beat down by the Raiders. They never lost again.

My point is, from a gambling perspective, the futures value is as high as will be for them. (Higher if they lose this week). And the AFC is bad. Bad enough that I think the title still goes through KC, Baltimore and Buffalo. There wil be some very good opportunities to fade NE, Denver and Pitt if they reach January

The “dynasty is over” rhetoric has been tried before. Same with “Josh Allen is broken” after last week. How’d that go? Prisoners of the moment. Long way to go.

Also: Philly has been really reallllly good without necessarily looking really good if that makes sense.

It feels like Philly is repeating barring injuries. Buffalo probably gets there on the back of Allen.
Rams have gone with 13 personnel and suddenly splitting carries between Corum and Williams. Corum was in way more than my liking on key drives. He’s turned out to be an average RB who likes to tap dance instead on hitting gaps like KW. KW has been returning punts for some reason.
McVay kills this offense when he gets away from the running game. The reason why they jumped on Seattle was because they ran down their throats.
Rams starting to get better production out of their special teams. The one thing I know historically with McVays teams is they get better right about now.

line on seahawks/rams told the story. a +150 on the team leading every statistical category? rams had a bead on em. intel dossier was full. it must suck being in the same division. constantly in mcveigh's crosshairs. like living next door to a pit bull. not to mention shanahan across the street. they hit hard  and they're smart? no thanks.

Bear season total was 8.5 juiced to the under. They beat redskins on the road in the lucrative "mnf spot after a bye" with a walkoff fg. they beat giants but were losing 20-10 4q before dart got injured. They beat bengals with a 60-yd td with 20 seconds left. They blocked a raiders walk off field goal. Last night they won on a kickoff return/walk off field goal. If this was baseball their xFIP would be sky high.

Hate Dan as a play caller. Clouding his already sketchy game management calls.

That’s going to be tough no matter how much they improve. Defensive coach and Sam Darnold vs the best 2 play callers in the NFL 4 times a year.

You can't possibly be blaming Ben Johnson for that playoff loss when Washington scored at will on that defense which is magically good this year after being a joke under the previous coordinator.

I think Dan is a terrific motivator and is the reason for the Lions ascension but is also the reason why they haven’t gotten to a Super Bowl with the talent he’s brought in. Wreakless decision maker.

Is anyone as unimpressed as I am with the majority of the young QBs in the league. Most of these guys are showing themselves to be extremely injury prone or flat out not good.

Speaking of young QBs is there a chance that Tennessee drafts Mendoza and dumps Ward on some sucker like say Aaron Glenn if he’s still employed.

I don’t think Tennessee’s brass exposes themselves to be think ignorant in their evaluation. I think they made their bed and would rather have a 2 year QB with Cam then go backwards with another 1st year QB who’s no guarantee.

When did I blame him for the loss?

Do you remember all the guys missing from that defense?? The possible MVP was out and then around 8-9 other guys (starters and depth guys). They had a patchwork defense in December and January!

Admittedly, Kelvin is an upgrade at DC imo. He's fantastic! With that being said, the defense was above average until the litany of injuries.

Back to Ben Johnson and how he performed in the Washington game...

The offense did what it does, overall. But, there are 3 points of contention.

1. Yes, that faced a deficit most of the game after the 1st quarter. With that being said, much like yesterday, they abandoned the run way too early. We're talking 21 total runs from Sonic and Knuckles. Gibbs especially was tearing them up. Nope, they panicked a bit.

2. Third down calls were not the best. Again, the offense was good overall but the 3rd downs also were a bit to longer in the 2h due to running plays being at a premium.

3. The Jameson Williams pass. Still one of the most idiotic decisions I've seen in a playoff setting. The Lions did run the rock in the first possession of the 3rd quarter. Quite well, obviously. TD drive and down 3. The Redskins then took 8 mins off the clock to go up 38-28. Next drive, one run and a nice pass to Patrick -- early 4th mind you -- and Ben decides to have the lowest IQ player on the team throw a pass. Interception, of course. That effectively ended the season.

Well,

This could be true but we need a better sample size.

The Lions were WAY AHEAD of schedule two years ago making the NFC championship game. They had zero business being in that spot so quickly. Yet, they were the better team that day. A few questionable play calls, a ridiculous bounce off a helmet, an untimely drop on a short 4th down and a fumble by a now superstar RB.

Last year they simply were too injured. They had too many guys sitting out with injuries by December. That was too bad, with HFA. Even if they beat Washington, they were going home vs Philly. The Eagles would have scored 40 on that maligned defense.

Injuries are mounting once again this year.

My biggest gripe with Dan ... Well two...

1. This was moreso two years ago but we saw it yesterday -- they abandon the run too quickly

2. Are the training camps too tough on these guys? The injuries are consistent.

I think you can poke holes in every single contender at this point with perhaps only the rams as an exception for now- offense, defense and special teams all seem to be clicking for them. Lot of ball to be played…

Dallas defense is a unit that looks a bit improved after the trades and some better health. Faced a crappy raiders offense so maybe it doesn’t stick.

LAC…OL injuries finally caught up to them.

Philly offense looks broken and the lane Johnson injury doesn’t help. Defense is so elite that it’s carried them

Quinnen Williams showed his value to the Cowboys D early and often. Dallas D is going to be a pass funnel the rest of the season, which at least is a better position than the complete swiss cheese they were sporting through weeks 1-9. Getting Overshown back in the lineup helps too. They even played a decent zone defense at one point, getting a pass deflection that turned into a pick deep in the own territory.

Proof will be in the pudding the next 3 weeks....as BAR showed their SOV was 0.219 and that was before beating the Raiders which actually LOWERS that number. They have beaten nobody, and now get the Eagles, Chiefs and Lions in the next 17 days, needing to win 2 out of 3 to have any shot at all of sneaking into the #7 spot. The playoffs start now and could be done by first week in December.

Quinnen having a big game as soon as he escaped the hell hole is not a coincidence. The fact that the idiot Glenn didn't have any use for him or Sauce is proof of his utter incompetence and someone needs to take the team away from Woody so the coach and his puppet GM can be fired.

The defense lost them that game. The fact that Johnson had to call a perfect game and score a minimum of 40 to have a chance tells you just how much he had to overcome having the biggest idiot in NFL history coordinating the other side of the ball.

Cam is not a good pro QB and never will be but the 27 class is stronger anyway so they'll dump him after he falls flat on his face next year as well.

Again, take away Glenn, the greatest defensive coordinators of all time are giving up 35+ in that game! They had no one.

I think it’s hard to judge Cam as a complete bust yet. He should be sitting for a year like all of these kids should be. But it’s a terrible organization.

Not worse than the Falcons who decided not to hire Bill B, and then paid a washed Cousins 150 million, only to draft a QB in the top 10, and then trade away a top 5 pick that could be used to salvage some hope with their promising pieces of Bijan and London but no - it’s going to the SB favorite Rams.

Not saying Bill B is a prize but man he wouldn’t have allowed such horse shit.
