Goodbye to Romance College Football
I'll do this throughout the week, which may be too late to help most people. I do it for my benefit as well, it's just going to be late this week. Please add anything you saw or think is useful.

Big Ten:

McSorley has his first 2 INT game of the year and Barkley was held to a season low 58 yards on 33 att (1.76) and as a team IND outrushed them 110-77 (Redding 23-108). and total yards 454-409 and 47 to 28% 3rd down conversion rate. After throwing 6 INT in the previous 4 games Lagow had zero vs PSU. But IND lost 5 fumbles to PSU’s 2 TOs. IND fumbled at the PSU 22, 46 (1st down), 46 (1st down) and muffed a punt setting PSU up at the IND 6y TD “drive” which at the time gave them a 14-7 lead. The final fumble came with :29 left Lagow was sacked and fumbled at his own 9 which was run in for a TD giving PSU the improbable and misleading 45-31 lead! PSU’s INTs didn’t amount to much, one led to an IND drive that was SOD at the 1. With the game just 35-31 with under 3m left IND was SOD 4th-and-3 at their own 22. 4 plays and zero yards later PSU kicked a 39y FG for a 38-31 lead. Then came the sack fumble and the 9y TD return for the final 45-31 score. IND had 14 tfl.

Rutgers Qb Rescigno passed for just 6-16(37%)-40-0-2 while O’Connor went 10-15-141-3-0, And MSU RB’s contributed 277 RY (5.54) to RU’s 109 (3.02). FDs were 20-8 and RU was –2 TO, MSU scored a 30y pick-six. Rutgers crossed midfield twice.

Purdue led 10-0 , but NW led 14-10 HT with a 293-167 yard edge. NW INT’d at the P17, Pur INT’d at their own 28 leading to 4p 26y NW TD drive. NW was also INT’d at Pur 6. Pur kicked FG from 9, after a shanked punt was SOD at the NW 26. In the 2nd half NW scored 4 TD and FG on their first 5 drives accumulating 317y to Purdue’s 217 (83 on final drive). Full game yardage 605-394. Thorson 23-36-352-3-2, Blough 21-36-184-1-3. NW had 2 100y rushers.

Wisconsin ran for 363 and only passed 8-14-92-2-0. Jeff George Jr was 5-16-79-0-4 and Wes Lunt actually started the 2nd half (trailed 3-31)(Lunt had missed the previous 4 games. He passed just 2-8-22-0-0). Wisconsin edges: 23-11 FD, 455-200 TY. ILL was 0-9 3rd down and lost 4 TOs.

In a 17-17 4th qrt tie game Neb started a drive on their own 9, they would go on 13p 91y drive including a 4th and 1 from the 16 when a FG would’ve given them the lead. There was only one turnover, which sealed the game, Leidner had a deflected pass INT’d at the 2y on 1st down with 1:29 left. Armstrong had a INT dropped earlier in the game. Neb 19-15 FD, 374-265 TY (6.2-4.3). Armstrong did start. He did leave the game for a series with an ankle injury, but came back to play the rest including a 13y game winning TD run (injured hamstring, carried off field). Min was held to just 91 RY (2.5) after coming in avg 210 ypg.

Strange game in Kinnick. In the 1st qrt Iowa faked a 4th-and-9 punt from their own 36 where the punter stumbled and fell for a 5y loss with a Michigan player coming in for the hit, targeting was called and upheld. Michigan started at Iowa 46 instead of 31. A pass to Darboh was originally called a TD, but overturned as incomplete. A couple plays later Desmond King was called for personal foul handing Michigan a 1st down a the 10 where they had to eventually settle for a 26y FG. 3-0. Iowa’s O struggles continued, but back-to-back running into the punter calls allowed them to sustain a drive that got to M28, but a 46y FG was missed. Michigan put together a 10p 72y drive for 10-0 lead. Iowa punted, but downed the ball at the 2 and two plays later Iowa tackled RB in EZ for safety. 10-2. Iowa was able to go 7p 52y for TD (2 pt no good)(Wadley had 40 of those yards)(drive aided by Mich personal foul). 10-8 HT. First half yards Iowa 148 - Mich 118. 2nd half Mich fumbled the opening KO, Iowa starting at Mich 43 drove 36y including a 4th-and-1 conversion and would get a 25y FG. 11-10 Iowa lead. End 3rd qrt Mich started a drive on their own 7 and got to midfield, but was punting on 4th-and-4, however Iowa was called for “roughing the center” and gave Mich a 1st down at the Iowa 36. Mich couldn’t move the ball and kicked a 51y FG for 13-11 Blue lead. Iowa goes 3-and-out and Michigan is driving, converts two 3rd downs, but on their third 3rd down they throw INT on a ball that looked like it could’ve been caught by Mich, but Iowa came away with the ball instead for the pick at their own 25. 3:43 left Iowa drove out to midfield 1st down, but threw a deep pass INT’d by Mich at the 16. 1:54 left, Iowa has 3 timeouts left. Smith then Peppers gain just 1 yard each on 1st and 2nd down, a 3rd down pass was incomplete forcing a punt. Returner King was tackled at the 50, but a Michigan player’s hand grazed the facemask, did not grab, and a 15y facemask penalty was called. Iowa starts at the M36. Iowa gets to the 15, with Michigan calling timeouts to try and preserve time, but Iowa milks it and nails a 33y game winner with :00 left. 14-13 final. Iowa punting was key the entire game; three punts were downed or out-of-bounds inside the 10. Iowa 17-14 FD, 230-201 TY (3.4-3.3ypp). Mich lost 2 TOs, Iowa 1. RB Wadley had 167 of Iowa’s 230 yards. Michigan ran for just 98 (2.8). Speight was injured late, but stayed in game 11-26-103-0-1. Beathard 8-19-66-1-1.

MAC

Things weren’t looking good for EMich early vs Ball St. Trailing 7-0, they fumbled at their own 18 and BSU was in the EZ 2p 14y later 14-0. Next possession EM fumbles again and 4p 33y later BSU TD 21-0. EM stopped the bleeding with a 13p 58y drive for 34y FG to get on the board. 2nd qrt EM scored TD (2 pt no good) 21-9, then BSU gets great KO ret and 37y pass, but later fumbles at the 1 for a touchback. EM goes 14p 80y TD. 21-16. EM would then trade a FG for a TD and the 28-19 BSU HT lead. EM 1st half 339-254 yard edge. It was a crazy 2nd half. BSU fumbled punt, EM recovers at B40 and was in the EZ 5p 40y later. 28-26. Later EM drove 6p 70y for TD and 10p 70y TD 40-28 EM. BSU hits a 62y TD pass and after an a few punts, BSU goes 10p 65y including a 4th down conversion for a TD to give them 41-40 lead with under 2m left (2 pt no good). EM wastes no time going 8p 86y in a minute to retake the lead 48-41 (2 pt good) with just :32 left. EM 35-26 FD, 622-542 TY (5.7-6.4). BSU lost 5 TOs, EM 3. EM was 54% on 3rd down, BSU converted just 2 of 13. Brogan 37-71-468-3-0. Neal 30-50-393-3-2. Each team rushed for 170y and similar ypc.

After a fumble ret TD for Kent, Kent went 10p 60y (all rush) for a surprising 14-0 lead! WM drives to a 1st and goal at the 7, but had to settle for a 27y FG, then goes 13p 83y for TD. 14-10 Kent. With about 2 minutes left in the half Kent throws INT in WM territory that WM returns to Kent 33 where they eventually kick 23y FG. 14-13 half. WM had 181-138 1st half yard edge. WM would get ahead on a 20p 95y 9 minute drive featuring 4 3rd down conversions (2 pt good). 21-14. But Kent wasn’t done quite yet answering on a 6p 78y drive (all rush). 21-21. A punt downed a the 1 led to a safety, and WM led for good 23-21. They scored TDs on back-to-back drives totaling 101y (all rush) for 37-21 lead. Kent’s 2nd to last drive got to the W23 before being SOD. Game totals WM 26-17 FD, 412-293 TY (5.4-5.3), 65%-45% 3rd down (Kent 0-2 4th down). Terrell 6-13-83-0-0, 39 rush. Holley 9-21-73-0-1, 141 rush, he was named MAC O POW for third time this year. WM had two 100y rushers. Corey Davis caught 1 for 18. 2x 1st team MAC safety and current MAC tackling leader Kent St safety Nate Holley has been suspended from the team and DNP this game.

Anthony Maddie did not play after starting the previous 5 games, he was injured vs BG the prior week. Ryan Graham was an early season starter after the injury to Hare (Graham was relieved by Maddie in game 4 and Maddie started since then). It’s been announced that Maddie has a left leg hairline fracture and will miss the rest of the year. NIU seemed to be the better team early, leading 14-3 at halftime. On a 12p 71y drive NIU kicked a short FG, but Tol was offside and NIU took the first down and scored a TD. Tol threw an INT, but NIU was offside and later Tol got a 44y FG. NIU went 11p 86 with several chunk plays for their 2nd TD. 14-3. NIU had a 233-153 1st half yard edge. But Toledo came out of half much better, scoring TDs on their first 2 drives and 3 out of 4 2nd half drives to take the lead 24-21. In the 4th NIU was able to tie 24-24 on a 13p 73y drive for 22y FG. But it only took Tol 3 minutes to go 10p 71y for the lead 31-24. NIU threw a 3rd down INT at the Tol 20 to end the game. NIU edges on 23-22 FD, 441-420 TY (5.1-5.8 ypp), 214-134 RY (5.0-3.4 ypc). Graham 24-43-227-3-1, 97y rushing. Woodside 23-33-286-3-1. Bouagnon 19-84, Hunt 19-122. Golladay caught 14-149 for NIU and Johnson 6-129 for Tol. NIU got 3 sacks, Tol 0.

Unfortunately for Akron they had 3rd string QB and WR Tyrell Goodman throwing passes for the first time in a college game. Thomas Woodson only played one possession (injury) and back up TraVon Champan was also injured. QBs combined 11-24-197-1-3, while Morgan for BG was just 11-23-105-0-1, probably his worst game of the year. The game was tied in the 4th, but BG never trailed as they had leads of 14-3 and 28-10 before a Zip comeback. Akron had a 374-323 yard edge, but lost 6 TOs to BG’s 2. A 2nd qrt sack fumble at the 2 yard line handed BG a TD and 21-10 lead. But BG fumbled as well at their own 32 setting Akron up to cut into the lead, but Akron QB fumbled and BG picked it up and ran 76y for the D TD and a 28-10 lead. Akron answered right back scoring the next 10 pts. Trailing 20-28 Akron was at their own 1, they get out to the 36 and connect with WR Jerome Lane for a 64y TD (2 pt good) for a 99y game tying scoring drive. 28-28. But Akron’s final 3 drives ended in TO, two INT and a fumbled KO while BG went 32y and 22y drives for FG and TD. 38-28 final. BG Power RB Donovan Wilson rushed for 119 (5.6), he had 131 prior on the entire season and Falcon RB Fred Coppet also chipped in with 116y (7.25).

Miami, Oh scored two D TDs (one a 92y fumble return) in the 35-24 win at Buffalo. Mia led 20-0, Buff cut it to 20-10 when Mia got a pick-six 26-10 then Mia got that 92y fumble ret TD. 32-10. Buff scored the games final 14 pts in the 4th. Buff had edges of 27-11 FD, 380-309 (4.4-5.8) TY. Ragland just 7-14-105-2-0 with 45y rushing. Buff RB Johnson 29-100.

The Notre Dame-Army game had 44 points in the first half and still went under for the game. I think the total closed at 55. Didn't watch the game but that seems like a bad beat for over backers.

Big XII

Texas had 32-22 FD, 536-383 TY (5.4-5.2 ypp), 318-269 PY (each team about 60% compl), 218-114 RY (4.4-3.0). But WVU converted 53% 3rd down to UT’s 29%. WVU lost 4 TO, UT 3. UT kicked FG from the 10, WVU from the 27 on their opening drives. 3-3. Each team exchanged fumbles. WVU later went 9p 66y for TD including a 3rd-11 conversion. 10-3. WVU goes 6p 80y, never facing 3rd down for a 17-3 lead. UT answers 5p 58y 17-10 and UT closed the half on a 7 minute 21p 78y drive, but had to settle for a 19y FG. They had 4th and 1 at the 2, but weren’t sure if they had enough time to run another play with :09 left. UT had previously converted 4th down twice on that drive. 17-13 HT. UT had 248 to 211 1st half yard edge. WVU opened the 2nd half throwing INT, but UT had a 37y FG blk’d. WVU goes 14p 79y for TD and 3-of-3 3rd down. 24-13. Each team exchanged an INT. UT then goes 9p 65y for TD, never facing 3rd down to cut the lead to 24-20. WVU threw INT near midfield, but at the 15 Buechele was sacked and fumbled. 10 minutes left UT starts drive at their own 15, drives to midfield, but a penalty wipes out a 1st down then Buechele was sacked and had to punt. UT gets the ball back again at their own 41, but from the W43 on 4th-5 they gain just 4y (caught in front of line to gain). UT gets the ball back again with 1:25 left (no timeouts) at their own 12 and drive to the W27, but as time runs out the pass into the EZ was incomplete. WVU got 4 sacks, they sacked Buechele 3x on 3rd down. Tex D had 9 TFL. UT had 284-162 2nd half yard advantage. 5 WVU 2nd half drives were 3-and-out (resulting in punt or INT). Howard 21-35-269-1-3, 42 rushing. Buechele 31-48-318-1-1, 44 rushing. Both passing and rushing yards were career highs. Foreman 35-168 (4.8). That makes 11 straight 100y games tying Earl Campbell (who was at the game). Malik Jefferson left the game early with injury. UT Tr Fr Malcome Roach had 3 tfl.

Kansas led 14-3 and 14-10 HT. Then 17-10 and 24-16 but it wasn’t enough as ISU scored the final 15 pts (2 TD, xpt blk’d then 2 pt no good + FG). KU fumbled the first punt of the game setting ISU up at the 8. ISU did throw INT at the KU 15 after a 71y drive and KU missed a FG to end the first half 14-10. It was a busy 3rd qrt. KU opened with a FG, then ISU thought they tied the game with a 11p 85y TD drive, but xpt blk’d. 17-16. KU stretched the lead to 24-16, but ISU came right back, 2 pt no good. 24-22. A 4th qrt TD gave ISU the 28-24 lead (2 pt no good) then KU SOD at the I42 and ISU converted 3rd down 3x on their way to a 37y FG with under 3m left. 31-24. KU threw INT and ISU took 3 knees. rFr Carter Stanley started for KU 26-38-171-1-1. Park 20-26-205-2-1. Lanning only att 4 passes and 5 rushes. Each team had 150y+ RBs. Lazard 10-120-TD. ISU 458-415 (6-5.3) Total Yards. KU lost 2 TO, ISU 1.

Oklahoma won by 21, but FDs were even and they only outgained Baylor 566-504, but OU had 7.6 ypp to 5.5 and were 71% 3rd down. Baylor was –3 TO, OU –1. While OU was building a 14-0 lead, Baylor was SOD at midfield and later Russell threw a pass into a clump of bodies at the OU2 which was INT’d. Now 21-0 OU, Bay goes 18p 77y, but has to kick a 35y FG. 21-3. Bay hits some big plays enroute to 8p 80y TD drive. 21-10. OU throws INT, but Bay fumbles it back. 21-10 HT. 2nd half OU hits Westbrook on 40y TD pass then following a Bay INT and return to the 1, OU gets another TD. 35-10. In the middle of a 17p 85y drive Russell suffers a dislocated ankle and is replaced by true Fr Zach Smith who finished the drive with a rushing TD. 35-17. Mixon adds a 56y TD run, but Smith connects with Cannon on a 62y TD. 42-24. Near the end of the 4th qrt OU tacks on a 22y FG following 15p 71y drive (starters still in). Baylor’s final drive was SOD at the OU 1 gaining 6 on a 4th and 7. Smith wenr 6-15-144-1-0. Mayfield 20-25-300-2-1, 25 rushing. Mixon and Perine each topped 100y rushing. Perine missed the previous 3 games. OU was credited with 9 PBUs.

Oklahoma St led 14-0 and 21-7 1st qrt, but T Tech tied it 28-28 HT. OSU maintained a 10 pt lead through the 3rd qrt. 45-35. In the 4th qrt TT kicks a FG from the 9 following a 15p 66y drive, then recovers an onside kick, but fumbled on their next play. TT gets ball back with 6-1/2 left and TT goes 13p 77y for the potential tying TD, but x pt is no good leaving the score at 45-44. OSU recovers the onside kick. TT has all 3 timeouts. OSU runs for 17, 12, 6, 3, and 3 yards all the way down to the TT 4 with Texas Tech trying to let them score when they finally take a knee as time expires. TT had 34-27 FD edge, but OSU 605-518 TY (9.2-5.4 ypp) and 395-359 PY (71%-67%)(14.1-6.9 ypa), 210-159 RY (5.5-3.6 ypc). Each team lost a fumble.

AAC

ECU's baffling season continues. They rank 125th in -14 TO margin, this was the 4th game they were -3 or more TOs. Vs SMU they lost 5 to SMU's 0. SMU DB Horace Richardson took two pick-sixes 70 and 80 yards in their 55-31 win. Total yards (477-466) and first downs (25-27) were essentially even. Not only did ECU fall victim to two pick-sixes, the first fumble led to 39y SMU TD drive, a third INT led to 28y TD drive. Nelson and Minshaw both played, poorly, combining for 29-49-314-1-3. Zay Jones continues to rewrite the records, in this one caught 12-173-TD. SMU's Ben Hicks had one of this better outings 18-30-235-3-0. SMU did have two 100y RBs. SMU ran for 200+ yards for just the second time vs IA this year.

Tulsa scored on 7 of 9 drives, but broke serve first kicking a FG when Navy was scoring TDs. Tulsa kicked another FG, but with Navy scoring TDs and every possession being critical it was the difference in the game. Tulsa has 576-501 yard edge, but threw a pick at the N20 and kicked FGs from the 12 and 9. Navy ran fro 394, however Worth's passing was key as he went 6-8-111-TD-0 while also leading with 122 rushing.

Hayden Moore returned for Cincinnati, but went just 13-25-129-0-1, Kiel relieved him in the 4th and he would go just 6-17-91-0-1. Cincy lost 24-3, but had 327-305 yard edge...Cin lost 3 TOs. UCF led 10-3 HT, each team missed a FG, UCF's made FG was from the 4. Cin was 0-6 3rd down in the 1st half. 3rd qrt UCF blk'd a punt and returned for TD. 17-3. Then a Cin INT and return set up UCF for a 3p 25y TD drive (was actually a pick-six but live-ball sportsman like penalty negated the defensive score). 24-3 early 4th qrt. Cin's last two drives were SOD at UCF 5 and INT as time expired at the goal line. UCF D got 5 sacks.

Houston led 28-10 halftime, but would only get a safety in the second half for the 30-18 final. Tulane QB Cuiellette passed for season high 241y on 21 of 42 attempts (both also season highs). Tul may have been forced to throw so much out of their norm due to lack of running game 102y on 35 att (Season low). Tulane actually had a 341-287 yard edge, but in the first half it was Houston with 226-112. Amazing that Houston would punt on 7 of their 8 2nd half drives, the 8th drive they took kneel downs. In fact Houston went 3-and-out on 5 of those 7 drives! At the end of the 1st half Greg Ward was injured when he spiked the ball, but failing to hear the whistle, he dove on it and injured his shoulder. Postma started the 2nd half, but he too was injured at the end of the 3rd forcing Ward to return. Herman said Ward was "less than 75%". Houston ran for just 66y on 35 att.

Memphis got off to a slow start and USF jumped out 14-0, but Mem battled to take a 24-21 3rd qrt lead, from there the game had 7 lead changes. Each team missed a FG, Memphis took 3 shots at the EZ from the 3 before being SOD and USF took knees to end the game. FDs were even 30-29, but USF had 679-608 (8.6-7.5) yard edge including 416 rushing (8.3). Flowers was 24-29-263-2-0 and 210 rushing with 3 TDs! Ferguson was 29-46-331-3-1 and added 41 RY. Mem D credited with 9 TFL.

CUSA

Rice trailed Charlotte 21-0 (including a pick-six), but scored 10 before halftime for some momentum. Owls won 22-21. Char had 174y on their first 3 drives, but just 89 the rest of the game! Rice had 433-263 yard edge and did benefit from a fumble recovery leading to 1p 17y TD "drive", you could say both teams had a D TD.

LaTech won 63-35 and often led by 28 throughout. The closest UTSA got was 14 in the 4th qrt, but LT ran an onside kick in for TD and tacked on a late TD for the final margin. FDs fairly even at 23-20, but LT had lots of big plays with the yards being 473-310 with ypp being 8.3-3.7. Super LT WRs Taylor and Henderson caught just 7-36 combined but each had a TD and Henderson ran the opening KO back for TD. UTSA rush O had been avg 220 RY in CUSA games was held to just 131.

Old Dominion led 42-7 vs the Nick Mullens-less Southern Miss enroute to a 51-35 win. Fr QB Keon Howard saw his first action of the year for USM. ODU forced 5 fumbles, recovered 4 - ran 1 in for TD, got and INT, a safety and recorded 6 sacks & 11 TFL. But SM did have 21-10 FD, 452-320 (5.7-6.4) TY edge with more yards passing and rushing than the Monarchs. USM's game opened fumble, fumble, punt, INT allowing ODU a 21-0 lead on just 80 yards.

WKU dominated NT in the 45-7 win. WKU owned 25-7 FD, 543-232 TY (7.3-4.4). 3 of NT's 14 possessions got into WKU territory. Half of NT's yards came on the final 3 drives.

UTEP-FAU was a back-and-forth game with FAU getting ahead for good with just :25 left. On the game winning drive Jason Driskell was 7 of 8 passing and accounted for all 81y with his legs or arm, never facing a 3rd down. UTEP led 31-20 with 7-1/2 left in the 4th, but couldn't hang on. Aaron Jones did become UTEP's all time leading rusher. Jones had 27-229-2TD. Driskel was 20-25-233-1-1 and added 79y rushing. FAU had 476-355 yard edge. A pair of INTs set up UTEP for two 40y TD drives and later a fumble set them up for a 17y FG drive. All 4 of FAU's TD drives on the other hand were 70y+.

Marshall's 453 yards are more than their previous 2 games combined and their best output since week 2. Marshall was allowing 515y on D vs IA competition entering last week, but they held MTSU to just 283, well below the Blue Raiders 519y avg coming in. MTSU was without QB Stockstill for the first full game. MTSU - 4 TOs.

ACC

UNC got up 14-0, but Duke would tie at 14-14 and again 21-21 halftime. The second half on saw 13 pts. UNC had 261y in the first half, but just 147 in the 2nd. UNC kicked two FGs in the 3rd while Duke scored the only TD for the 28-27 lead. In the scoreless 4th qrt. Duke was SOD at NC 25 and punted from the 34 (downed at 6). With under 2 minutes left Trubisky had threw a 1st down INT at midfield. Trubisky threw 2 INTs, coming into the game he had thrown just 2 all year (both came in the hurricane weather game vs VT). Duke had 467-403 (5.2-6.7) TY and 38-22 TOP.

FSU was dominent vs BC. Nine 3-and-outs...BC got 3 FDs combined on their 2 opening drives, then did not have another until their garbage TD drive halfway through the 4th qrt. Noles owned 24-8 FD, 416-146 TY. BC was 1 of 12 on 3rd down. BC did however sack Francois 4x, a troubling reoccuring theme for FSU, a roughing the passer sent him to the sidelines for the game near the end of the 3rd qrt (as a precaution if nothing else he didn't return). And surprisingly BC D was able to record 10 TFL (FSU 9).

Eric Dungey was a game time decision and it wasn't known until about 30 prior to KO he would not play (concussion). In his absence Mahoney went 13-24-190-1-1. Finley for NC St on the other hand was 20-29-340-1-0 and Dayes rushed 27-108-3TD. Cuse only had 30 rushing yards on 27 att. NC ST 27-10 FDs, 544-218 total yards...61 of Syr yards came on their opening drive and another 81 came on a TD pass. NC St SOD at the Cuse 29, INT'd in the EZ following 12p 63y drive (Soph QB McClendon threw that INT and another right before halftime). A blk'd punt handed Cuse a FG (they actually lost 5 yards on the "drive").

Miami won 34-14 and had 20-14 FD, 450-289 TY vs Virginia. Vir lost 4 TOs, Mia 2. Vir led 7-0 and Mia led just 17-14 HT. Vir did benefit from 18y TD drive following INT. As they have done before Vir played a very poor 2nd half. 4 of the 7 drives ended in fumbles! Miami D had 5 sacks.

GT shocked the Blacksburg crowd leading 20-0 at halftime! And they did so with QB Matthew Jordan making his first career start, no problem! Jordan rushed for 121 (passed just 2-7-34-0-0). GT was also down 2 starters on OL (inj) and a RB (sus). VT did have 437-343 yard edge, but 182 of Hokie's yards and 13 pts came on their final 2 possessions. VT did lose 4 TOs (3 in GT territory), GT lost 1 TO. GT got a 15y drive for FG and VT got a 26y drive for TD after a fumble. VT also missed FG.

WF led LV for the entire game until 10m left in the 4th 1st qrt, LV fumble set WF up for FG. But WF did also fumble at LV 29. LV then fumbled at WF 20, led to FG. Jackson fumbled at WF 48 following 25y run leading to WF FG. Those misques averaged out in the 2nd half. LV partially blk'd a punt, got TD 4p later added a pick-six. LV scored 5 TDs in the 4th qrt. And LV finished with 491-214 total yards. WF did own TOP 38-22 minutes. Jackson 14-26-145-1-0, rushed 22-153. LV rushed for 346 (9.3).

PAC 12

UCLA 25-16 FD, 444-307 (5.8-4.5) TY, 40%-20% 3rd down, 281-224 PY, 163-83 (5.6-2.4) RY. Each team lost 3 TOs, UCLA score D and ST TD, Ore St scored D TD as well. A fum recovery was ret’d to the 4 setting up Ore St 7-0 lead. UCLA goes 7p 70y TD, then recovers fumble setting up 6p 32y TD. UCLA then blk’d punt ret for TD. 21-7 1st qrt. Poor punt/good return sets Ore ST up for 3p 16y TD drive. 21-14. Ore St fumbled at UCLA 30. 24-14 HT. Ore St gets a 40y fum ret TD 24-21, but UCLA answers on 6p 71y TD drive. Next drive Beavers go 12p 71y with 1st and goal at the 3, but settle for 20y FG. 31-24. UCLA was knocking on the door, but threw INT at the 1. With just over 2m left in the game UCLA gets a 40y pick-six for the final 38-24 score.

Colorado slowly pulled away from Arz in the first half to a 28-10 HT lead. CU opens 4-of-4 on 3rd down for 16p 71y TD drive. Arz drives down, but misses a 44y FG. Arz then goes 8p 80y including a 50y pass to the 12 eventually tying 7-7. Aided by 47y pass CU retakes the lead 14-7. Arz cuts it to 14-10 on a 23y FG mid 2nd qrt and it was all CU from there. Arz outgained CU 417-388, but did miss 3 FGs (missed 44, 50, 44 – made 23 yarder). CU had very good field position all night with several drives starting near their own 40. Lifua 19-27-3-1, added 56y-TD rushing. Lindsay ran 25-122-3TD. Shay Fields caught 6-108-2TD. Dawkins started at QB, but Soloman finished the game, QBs combined for 12-26-155-0-0, sacked 4x. Sr WR Samajie Grant was Arz’s feature back due to injury (16-115-2TD). Arizona’s first 7 game losing streak since 2004.

W St got off to a good start with a 3-and-out on D, then a 75y punt return TD. Down 14-0 in the 2nd qrt, Cal converted a 3rd and 23 with a 59y pass inside the 10, Cal eventually cut it to 14-7. W St went on two more TD drives while Cal missed a 41y FG on a drive they had 1st and 10 at the 15, but OL hands to face moved them back and they couldn’t get closer. Later Cal had 1st and 10 at the 12, but 2 plays later INT in EZ. 28-7 HT. W St added to the lead to open the 3rd qrt. 35-7, Cal would be SOD 4th-and-1 at the W30. Cal did cut the score to 42-21 early in the 4th, but W St scored the final 2 TDs. W St 34-30 FD, 654-525 (7.6-6.3) TY, 73%-29% 3rd down. WSU WR River Cracraft did suffer a torn ACL. Cracraft is 2nd all time receptions (218) behind Gabe Marks.

S--k, I alluded to this in another thread, but I wanted to say it more directly: I really appreciate these summaries. :tiphat:

Agreed 100%. :cheers3:

Thank you both. I am glad you find them helpful. Just a few more to round things out.

PAC 12 cont:

Stanford jumped out 21-0 and scored on 6 of their first 7 drives for a 38-13 HT lead. In the first half, Ore was SOD at the S31, fumbled at midfield, threw INT in the EZ from the S16 and missed a 41y FG. In the second half they fumbled a punt near midfield and threw INT in the EZ from the S34. The score was 52-13 before Ducks scored 2 garbage TDs and 139 of their 500 yards. Stan 26-24 FD, 540-500 (7.8-6.7) TY, 282-226 RY (6.7-5.0), Stan 50% 3rd down Ore was 2 of 13. Ore QB Herbert was 21-30-274-2-2 with 47y rushing. Chryst 19-26-258-3-0. McCaffrey 17-135-3TD rush and 5-52 receiving. Freeman did have 20-111 for Ducks.

All the attention Az St's blitzing D gets overshadowed the pressure the team from SLC, sack lake city, produces. 11 sacks by Utah vs Az ST, 5 by Hunter Dimick. 6 of those sacks came in the 4th qrt and were critical in a 28-26 game entering the final qrt. In the 1st qrt ASU threw INT in EZ, kicked 24y & 36y FGs and led 13-0. The INT was by Ute DB M Williams in his first game back from inj (...how many key players are on this team named Williams!). But Utah would have a 21-20 HT lead. Utes stretched their 28-26 lead to 35-26 lead in the 4th on a drive featuring 2 D PI on 3rd down. Utah got a 34y pick-six and 40y TD with 3 minutes left for the final margin. Utah had 22-18 FD, 497-396 (8.4-5.0) TY. Each team lost 2 TOs. Due to the sacks on four 4th qrt possessions ASU had just 25 total yards in the qrt. T Williams 21-37-296-4-0 (career high yards). WR Singleton 4-116-3TD (also career high). J Williams 15-181-2TD (4th straight 100y game). Ballage led the Devils in rushing with just 46 on 15 att and 7-118 receiving (71 on 1 play).

MWC:

Utah St led 14-0 and 21-6 before NMex started to come back. 1st half NM was SOD at the 38 and the 16 while also kicking FGs from the 19 and 20. USU had just a 165-161 HT yard edge but led 14-6. USU opened the 2nd half with a TD 21-6, but NM would tie on back-to-back TDs with a 2 pt conv 21-21 entering the 4th. Halfway through the 4th USU was on a 7p 62y drive and had 4th-and-1 from the 1...yet instead of going for the FG and the lead, they go for it and are stopped with 5 minutes left (failed on 3 cracks from the 2). NM goes 11p 61y in 4-1/2 minutes and kicks 40y FG for the 24-21 lead. With a minute left USU is able to drive to NM 19. They throw a TD pass, but O PI is called not only taking a winning score off the board, but now moving the ball back to the 34 and out of FG range. Strangely with the clock stopped USU would use it's final TO with :16 left. Next play Myers scrambles for 9y, but clock running some of the team goes to the LOS to spike the ball while other members of the FG team are hurrying onto the field to kick the FG. The few O members run off in a cluster fuck, they snap the ball just after :00 (and with more than 11 men on the field) and kick, but it fell short anyway. FD and TY similar. USU was 2 of 4 in the RZ with both failures coming on their final 2 drives of the game.

SD ST RB each nearly had 200y each...Penny 208 and Pumphrey 198. QB Chapman did his part 11-16-146-2-0 (best QB rating on the season). Both teams converted well on 3rd down 78-63%. SD outgained the Pack 620-366 (10.2-5.2). While SD St exceeded their ypg O production avg by nearly 200, it was also however the most yards allowed and best ypp allowed by SD St D since September (was allowing just 203 ypg MWC play) and Nev's 16 pts were the most allowed in conf play also (allowed total of 26 in 5 games prior). Back-to-back 2nd qrt INTs and another in the 4th did set SD St up for short TD drives.

It was a wild back-and-forth game for CSU and Air Force. The first half saw 5 lead changes with CSU up by 10 in the 2nd qrt, but AF came back for a 28-24 HT lead. In the second half AF twice had 11 pt leads, but CSU was able to close the gap both times. After cutting it to 49-46 with just under 7m left, CSU did force an AF punt and got the ball back with 2-1/2 left. They convert a 3rd down near midfield, but the receiver was stripped and fumble AF recovered and killed the clock. That receiver, Michael Gallup, despite his fumble, had one of the best games in CSU history 13-213-TD. Stevens passed for career high 22-29-374-2-1. Since regaining the starting role, Stevens is 79-of-112 (70.5%) for 1,040 yards with 8-1 TD-INT ratio. Dawkins added 14-104-2TD rushing. AF's Worthman made his 2nd start and ran 16-143-TD on the ground and passed 3-8-49-INT. McVey ran 15-184-TD. CSU never punted, they had drives end in 2 missed FGs, downs and INT and a fumble. AF did punt twice and had drives end in INT, fum, 2 punts and end of both halves. 95 combined points is the most scored in series history. First game in CSU history with a 300y passer, 200y receiver and 100y rusher.

Wyo-UNLV was really crazy and hard to recap, so many big plays, conversions last minute stuff happened in this game. Wyo QB Josh Allen 14-31-334-4-2 was one of his worst games in terms of completion % and TD-INT. WR Tanner Gentry had two incredible TD catches one to force OT, you may have seen those on highlights. WY was avg 46 rushing attempts per game, but ran just 32x vs UNLV. Hill did gain 119 on 23 (5.17). A few teams have run for more on UNLV D on more carriers with a similar ypc. Maybe WY felt pressure to keep up because UNLV had leads of 3-0, 10-3, 20-17, 27-17, 30-24, 37-24, 44-31, 52-45 in regulation. WY repeatedly was able to battle back to tie or take the lead 5x eventually forcing OT. WY trailed by 13 in the 4th qrt, but after a 45y TD pass and a 60y punt return TD they took the lead in a 2 minute span. 45-44. UNLV retook the lead on a 76y QB run (Palandech not known as big time runner). 52-45 (2 pt good). With 1:06 left and the ball at their own 3 and down 7 WY drive starts with no timeouts, twice converting 3rd and long and driving all the way down to the UNLV 19 on 12 plays with :05 left. That is when Gentry came up with his second highlight TD stretching up and out-of-bounds, barely tapping a toe. 52-all. The teams exchange TDs in OT 1 & 2, but in OT 3 Allen throws and INT and UNLV line up for a 40y FG and the win! Rebels ran for an amazing 401 (6.3)! Rebels had 653-485 TY (6.7-7.3), 97-66 plays, 31-20 FD,TOP 38-22. WYO lost 4 TOs, to UNLV's 1. WYO did have a D and ST TD.

Down 28-0, 45-3 and later 52-13, Hawaii opted to kick 3 FGs from inside the 20 yard line...strange, but it helped the over. Boise 603-359 (8.9-5.6) TY. Rypien 18-22-338-4-0. McNichols 16-153-2TD. Wilson & Spurbeck each over 100y. UH QB Brown 16-31-125-1-0, 11-61 rushing. UH -2 TO.
