Week 10 What Are We Learning!

Oklahoma State seems to be free-falling...

Drake Maye had his worst passer rating of the season today. They did ultimately give up 31 points but it is North Carolina and one can still very much say, I think, that Virginia's defense really is improving. It's not just that Georgia Tech and Miami with its backup quarterback suck.

It's been pretty obvious, but this is the least talented Alabama team in 15 years. Despite the fact that Bryce Young and Will Anderson are 2 of the best players in football. I can't say that Saban is slowing down, because recruiting is still rolling, but there's just been something wrong in the football complex since that 2020 team.

I said it a couple weeks ago, this team is quite flawed. Offensively they are inconsistent. Defensively they are very poor tacklers and do not make necessary adjustments. They are just not the same, especially on the road.

Offensively, it starts with the OL. They just aren't good enough,

bama had poor performances last year but rebounded with dominate performances......look bad at florida pound ole miss, look bad vs auburn pound georgia, and even in the national title game looked really good........lsu last year, florida, auburn were not that good it was baffling to me how they could turn it on to another level vs georgia

the offense lost their wide receiver talent is the biggest issue imo but i don't understand the fall off defensively. They seem stacked

clemson has insane defensive line talent and can't stop a nosebleed against the run right now as well - it's weird

imo texas tech is the biggest tease in college football. this team has an unbelievable penchant to be dogged by like 8 points and lose by like 10 points and play good enough to cover every time and don't, nc state, kansas state, okie state, tcu.........i think they could of covered all of them. plus 8 just doesn't mean anything anymore

Bryce Young is a special player. And last year, he had a couple WR that were legit NFL talents. With that not even that great UGA defense last year could stop them. We saw in the natty what we looked like without those WR, this season it's even more apparent how bad we miss not only game breaking WR, but WR who can actually catch the ball

There is UGA and everyone else. Despite losing 15 guys to the NFL, missing their best WR for the majority of the year, having multiple key injuries they are still far and away better than the rest of the country. Stetson has a lot of a big game experience that is a differentiator as the season goes along. Check his last few games against top 10 teams. To absolutely wreck the Vols when Bowers and Washington have a combined 27 yards is all you need to know.

I think the problem with Bama is not Bryce. They cant throw it 50+ times a game and win. Gibbs only getting 15 carries is poor coaching.
He’s the last of their problems.
Was Gibbs their leading receiver in grabs?
And the defense is just not the same we are used to.

Texas is a good football team but does not have a winner's attitude and mental toughness. They will always, always, let you back in the game

We gotta talk about Miami. Wow.
Imagine spending 8 million dollars on Cristobal. Its not a coincidence that Oregon has gotten better while the Canes somehow downgraded from Diaz. Crazy that recruits are buying what this guy is selling but Cristobal couldn't win with the Buffalo Bills roster.

Auburn just has to hire Hugh Freeze don't they. Really they shouldn't even interview any other coaches.
I read somewhere that he isn't interested in returning to the SEC. I still think it's Jeff Grimes

I think Saban said it best a few weeks ago. This team is playing not to lose instead of playing to win. I guess the weight of expectations finally caught up with them, at the same time the talent has been thinned out. I also think Saban made the mistake of hanging onto ineffective coordinators in the name of continuity. I'm interested to see what happens this offseason. Last time we had a team like this one was 2010, and they used it as motivation for a decade. Maybe Saban really is slowing down

Anyone else looking for the 'chaos' of when TCU loses to Texas and then all of the mediocre teams argue about who should be in, solely to be the sacraficial lamb to UGA or Ohio ST? Sort of like which team is like the 70th team in CBB who got 'left off'.

One thing i will say is if it was not obvious last year, we do not need a college football expansion. AT ALL. Oregon and Tennesee might be in the playoffs and they have already been murked by UGA.
Its all about, or mostly about, this when it comes to playoff expansion

Nothing new but Brian Kelly is a great coach and LSU finally hired the coach they need to return to championship level status.

Thank you for saying that.

ESPN had a graphic yesterday that showed a 12 team playoff and it had 5 SEC teams. They talking heads were all drooling over it. WTF! Wouldn't the process of the season and the conference title game determine which SEC team is the best among it's peers - but no, we need 4 others from one league in a playoff? I pretty much idle down after the end of the regular season now anyway, when playoff expansion comes I'll just work in the garage instead.

Agreed. All he does is win. Pure class. That Qb they have is a problem, and he was blessed with 3 great wrs and a stud freshman tight end. Excellent hire.

Agreed on no expansion but a lot changes for teams from week one into late December. I think Oregon and UgA on a neutral field in say Dallas, would have a different outcome than week one. I'm not saying Oregon would win but I don't think they would get destroyed by the same number.

As much as I dislike Oregon if they finish the season with their only loss being to UgA they should get in. I still think they will drop one though.

I don't get involved in many New Mexico games, unfortunately I was yesterday. Atleast they covered the 1H. But they were strip sacked in the final minute(s) and Utah St ret'd it for a D TD and the cover. I'm trying to remember, hasn't New Mexico been burned by defensive scores going against them more than once already this year for covers late?

favorites that were down at HT that came back and covered their 2H or live halftime numbrs off the top of my head:
Air Force, UNC, Minnesota, Arkansas, Michigan, San Jose

A lot of people have been showing patience with Shaw at Stanford, but man yesterday...I had the Under! Washington State ensured it went Over...in the 1H! It is a unique place and I do think Shaw is, or was, uniquely qualified to lead that program, but it is getting ugly.

Another service academy game goes under

Charlotte and FIU reminded that they are still bad, quite bad - but who knows next week they could win, volatility continues

Say a stat, Texas A&M's longest losing streak since 1980

Temple has been playing pretty good in spots of games this season, they just opened a can of whup ass on USF!

The favorite covered in a Marshall FBS football game for the first time this year. ODU pretty hard team to figure out

Penn State switched to Alltar? I stopped watching that awful ass game, but saw on the ticker "coaches decision"?

Pretty impressive for Michigan State to rebound with a win over a respected Illinois team

I'm happy Tennessee covered 2H, the generous +21.5 live number, helps minimize my other two bets on them.

UTSA played their third OT game of the year. 5 of their games have been one-score finals

Navy was at or inside the Cincy 11 twice in the 1H, but only came away with 3 points....Cincy only crossed midfield on 1 of their 4 2H possessions

Tough way for Ark to lose their comeback effort vs Liberty on the failed 2pt Jefferson run.

Texas almost blew another big lead.

SMU beats Houston 77-63. Somewhere somebody is saying "not football"

UNLV manages to cover vs San Diego State even though they threw 2 INTs in the EZ and also fumbled near the RZ - 14 points allowed were the fewest by a UNLV D on the road in 20 years. San Diego State is so bad, I hate it when teams as bad as they are win games, but they do it every year and I hate it.

Rutgers was a lot of fun in the 1H!!! Michigan was fun in the 2H...

Super Arizona WR Jacob Cowing left with a knee injury, no update

Would've been cool if Auburn could've pulled off that comeback.

Once that game got about mid-2nd Q, I honestly thought Notre Dame might shut Clemson out

I fell asleep in the 2H of the late games, getting old...

Bet New Mexico 1h, the other team 2h @s--k They don't score 2h.

Right, add Utah State to the list of favorites trailing at HT and coved the 2H and live number. I sometimes take the other team at HT when I have the dog, but I thought "maybe this is the week for the Lobos", as you say, they were shutout 2H...the fumble return TD sucked.

16 2h points in last 7 games. 9 in the last 6.

Defense usually wears out in 2h being on the field the whole game.

I think it was ND's last scoring drive, it was in the 4th quarter, but ND just lined up and said we are gonna run it down your throats and they did. I think it was a 75 yard drive and they ran it every play but the last, which was about a 15 yard TD pass. You do not see that often and Clemson just quit.

I think it's more of a sign of how bad the quality is at the top this year.....because some years a team that was good enough to win the playoff didn't even make it... baylor was more deserving then oh state to make the playoffs the year they won it for example

Sec feels week at the top too....lsu got embarrassed by tennessee....can they be that good ? Idn tennessee has a unique offense but they don't feel all that better then last years Mediocre team in some ways. Ole miss feels worse then last year. Kentucky worse etc

Clemson is very flawed and was undefeated...tcu is undefeated.....I don't think many of these teams hold a candle to last year's oklahoma state team

There only feels like one elite defense in college football this year. Feels like that number is usually closer to 5....last year georgia cincinnati baylor Oklahoma state, clemson

Save georgia those teams defenses are not in the elite category anymore. The only elite defense is georgia

Think Bama plays better when they in uptempo on offense……..why coaches don’t switch it up at times? Need new off coordinator……the Jim guy is too old for the new era of football……

They don’t have that speedy receiver that can bail them out…..

Secondary gets PI penalty a lot……

no qb
has played 28 frosh
I'm not defending dumbo, but no one came here preseason saying ags deserved #6

Smarter people than us said A/M was a top tier team this season. The frosh / youth thing holds no water 5 years into your job - more than anything it tells you that the kids don't want anything to do with your program so they are jumping ship and you're left with 18 year olds to make it work. That isn't a reliable solution.

Fisher's fallback was and is to be an offensive specialist, and with unlimited NIL, making $9MM / year, he should be able to at least stumble into a QB that's adequate. That tells you all you need to know. Texas is littered with really good high school QBs. Fisher can't find one, or at least find one that succeeds under his guidance.

I'm a Texas grad but more than anything I'm from Texas. So I don't get into nonsense about this team or that, I always want teams from the state to win, and that's never a question. But Fisher is inept, at least in College Station, and needs to be gone. We'll see how badly boosters want to see that happen.

Analytics continues to be the cute go-to but someone should tell Joey McGuire that going for it on 4th down, on your own 32, more than once, isn't the smartest thing in the world for your team.
