Week 1 What Are We Learning

Some quick thoughts on A&M - ND.

ND O-line played above my expectations. Sure, there were false starts but the group stayed poised into the second half when it mattered. I think that unit only improves as the season goes on. Tonight was trial by fire and they did well. It also helps that it’s hard to take down Leonard… 0 sacks.

A&M secondary are ball hawks against the run. Loved seeing those guys swarm and make tackles around the line of scrimmage. Yes, ND did bust a couple of big runs, but Price’s stat line is 8 carries for 44 yards with a long of 47 yards for a TD. Don’t see that everyday.

Weigman was highly disappointing. Puking out there like he’s pregnant. 3.3 ypa with 2 INTs. 100 yards passing. His inaccuracy is a major problem.

I won’t even get started with Dabo tonight…

Garbers was really bad for UCLA, but I thought the entire team looked really unprepared -- I think Foster is way over his head and UCLA is going to be a dumpster fire this year
Agreed.

This has been trending badly from the get go.

Arizona is going to be in some high scoring games. Wide open offense with speed and D currently having trouble stopping New Mexico is bad.New Mexico is trash on D

The Nebraska game going under was tragic. No doubt.

Looking back at the play by play this becomes even worse.

I could go back and mention the SODs in first half.

I could mention the nearly 10 min drive for a FG in the 2h. Well, that's the end part of this.

Goodness ...

T Mac 10-304 tonight.

He's an absolute treat to watch.

2nd most in Big 12 history for receiving yards.

UNM at least finally has a qb. They aren't going to win many games, but they are at least fun to watch, but man that D. Should be an over machine until Vegas adjusts.

I learned a lesson going forward for years in the future, it wasn’t a cheap lesson as it killed 2-3 very nice RR’s for me today. I’d like everyone to help me with this cause god knows I will forget.

Never ever Eva never should I play tight end props in week 1!!! I come into year looking at them cause I’ve done really well w tight end props the past several years, there a clear and obvious problem tho. I tend to read the wrong shit or get misleading information about who the main tight end is gonna be!!! I had several today where A te went over the posted number it just so happened it was never the tight end I bet!!!! Fucking 😢 this year maybe I had a better excuse cause I havnt had extra time with the stuff going on with my wife but I still did some reading and then I just assumed I read guy was the #1 tight end and they had props posted for him so naturally I assumed they were the ones. You know what happens when you assume? I don’t know real sayin something bout lookiing like an ass. But In this sport it means I probably lost 💰!

On the other hand taking the big time wr’s coming in and playing them on alt lines is a very good idea! Hit a few guys who doubled up their alt numbers!

i didn’t get to watch much until the ND/aM game, not sure if there any take aways there? Went kinda as expected, the guy who coached Riley at Duke is now Aggies coach so he now has world class athletes playing defense and obviously he knows Leonard very well. Riley wasdid great to make some plays with his feet but it was mostly Irish d vs what is atill a very bad Aggies offense., not sure what they finna do to fix that? Anyways when your top priority has to be your wife who now on experimental cancer drugs that making her very sick you don’t get to watch games at casino w your boys you gotta stay close to home to take care of her, she so amazing to let me knock her out and run back and 4th across river to bet. But then every time you get back home you taking care of her not getting to watch much in way of games. Thinking bout asking her if we can bring in a nurse to help me (just on Saturdays! Lol) . I really missed getting to chop it up with ya’ll during the games today and really need this day for myself going forward. I think she will understand. She is one amazing and crazy tough bitch (I mean that in respectful way! lol), I couldn’t go thru what she is, I’m just starting to make it thru my part in this. But I learned if I’m gonna be able to do this I need and deserve a nurse or someone to give me this day for mysrif. Sorry I know this was point of thread but it what I learned and missed talking with ya’ll during the ganes!!

That was most likely the worst we will see Irish offense look all year I would think right? The coach who knows the qb best and moves to a school where his d was loaded w 4-5 star talent

The Irish schedule this year is quite soft.

I don't see, at first glance, any tough defense on the horizon.

Gotta think nobody will be a tougher challenge for Leonard than that Aggie group lead by his former coach will be. Of course that game still left plenty of questions, I assume Irish d is very good, they sure looked good last night, if wasn’t for some awful penalties by refs that extended drives for both teams. I dunno if we learned anything bout Aggies ability or lack there of to move the ball? Irish d looked fast and we know they well coached but still Weigmam looked freaking awful! That not that last good defense they be facing!

I dunno if asu is actually not bad or what but that beat down they gave Wyoming baffled me, I always expect Wyo to play a certain tough nosed style, not only they didn’t do that, the qb stunk worse then most Wyo qbs,,he threw as many td lssses to asu d as he did completions to his own team, this wasn’t Wyo football at all when he wasn’t throwing to the wrong team he was looking to make low percentage throws that mostly had no chance! One those games I thought I had a bead on a tight end who I don’t even know If he ran a route! Lol, Anyways they didn’t run the ball and worst of all the straight up quit. Maybe ASU is better than I thought? Never thought see cowgirks get beat down to the point of quoting

Ok this week I hope I get to talk some more football with you guys but I got baseball money to after my 1st average to below all week yesterday. Just a few bad beats or coulda easily been another 9-3 type day instead of 6-6! Time to get that baseball money before it gone!!!

It was a glorified 7 on 7 game against Indiana St but Purdue and Walters rolled out a dramatically visibly upgraded product on the field from a size and athleticism standpoint across the board.

they specifically moved this game up a week to have 2 weeks to prep for ND but in reality the staff has been prepping for all summer for

I’ll come back from the dead soon and get thoughts out there before 9/14 but I’m atleast excited to see how Purdues upgraded lines hold up against a couple of the best. The O line in particular has been transformed and reasonably deep compared to the Purdue below norm….

10 SEC teams (if you count Kentucky before the game was canceled) held opponents to 3 points or less in week 1. Obviously only UGA played a P4 team, and this isn't meant to pump up the conference, just found it unusual as I went through the scores this morning. I wonder if this is the other end result of the transfer portal madness? Meaning the bottom of FBS has far less talent than they used to as the best players transfer up more regularly. Though most of those shutouts and near shutouts were against FCS teams, so who knows?

Did any Big10 team look like championship material yesterday? A Big NO!
But neither did Michigan last yr at this time. Speaking of Wolvs, saw the Center get knocked around a bit. Loveland appears to be the entire passing game. Defense was gashed over and over with short/quick passing game. And those late defensive penalties reminded me of past Sparty defenses, get a stop and then give'em 15 yards via stupidity.
Ohio State showed up at the Shoe and thought that was enough in the first half, found out different. Akron controlled the ball for 34 minutes as Buckeye defense couldn't get off the field.
Iowa was Iowa first half and the 34 pts second half. A flicker of life there.
Sparty QB said play the Over! Guess he thought they were going to score a bunch.
Penn State took care of business. Refs were shitty before the half but it went both ways.
Huskers too got it done.
Rutgers covered the non-conf spread for the 10th time in a row. Do the books inflate the spread vs Akron?
Illinois surprised me a little, all business vs E Illinois.

Laramie.

I've been there. There's a blackhole feeling to the place (Wyoming in general) to outsiders. To look at the place and the stadium you wouldn't think it, but (particularly at night) visiting teams commonly get lost in all that vastness.

And Cowboy teams of the past on occasion can look quite the opposite, almost somnambulant, away from that vastness.

Not too much I can take away from Alabama's game. They started a little rough on offense, though that can be attributed to Proctor (starting LT) getting hurt in warmups and having to shuffle the OL as a result at the last minute. Also a few dead ball penalties and holding calls early, which could be an early season working out the kinks with a new staff thing, but it bears monitoring. Likewise, early on it looked like Milroe was struggling with some of the same things that he did last season. He seemed to settle down a bit after his first TD run and was far more decisive after that. We did have a botched snap early which triggered the fan base's collective PTSD from last year, but that was the only snap that wasn't perfect that I saw. My main takeaway is that the offense has plenty of explosive potential, and the defense is very athletic. I don't think we saw much at all from a play calling perspective, so it was nice to see a lot of guys playing fast and using the superior talent level to not F around. Saw several of the younger guys flash their potential. It may be bumpy over the first half of the season, but I saw nothing to dissuade me from the belief that we can compete with the best teams in the league and the country. The health of Proctor is a concern for sure. As is Milroe's old habits. We will see as the schedule gets tougher

As far as other SEC games, I think UGA is who we thought they are. I'd be concerned about their lack of explosive plays and players, but they are plenty capable of driving down the field methodically and squeezing you until you break. We called it joyless murderball in the prime Saban era. They look to have it in Athens too

I think Florida is just not good. Yes, their schedule is brutal, but they should be farther along than whatever that was yesterday. I don't think Billy will be around much longer

I didn't watch much until the 4th quarter, but the aTm offense looked somehow worse than it did under Jimbo. I rate Weigman pretty high, but from what I saw he looked a little lost. I think Elko is a good coach, but I think they are at least a season away from making much noise

I didn't see any of the game, but AU may have something resembling a functional passing game. It was against an HBCU squad, but it wasn't a given that they could complete passes against air the last few seasons.

Not much to take away from the multiple sacrificial lamb games, other than outside South Carolina, they all did what they were supposed to do against those teams.

I saw the crowd in Austin explode when Arch came out on the field. Tough spot for Ewers to be in when the back up is a bigger fan favorite. I don't envy Sark's situation with that. The first mistake Ewers makes, and I imagine there will be a few against the defense he faces next week, the wolves will be out

And it's been said, but how about Vandy? That's my wife's alma mater, and generally every SEC fan's second favorite team. Huge win for them. And it may be Miami or nothing in the ACC

That's about all I got from an SEC perspective. Glad we're back and I look forward to a great season

Agreed. Still dangerous at home much different on the road.

Texas might rout Michigan ???
Can't believe this line is only 3.5-4.5 right now !!!
Thought it would have jumped to at least 6+, I don't want to overreact , BUT ......

I don't know about a rout but I think they have a very good chance to win the game.

Quite a few of the players from last year are gone but many are still on the team that went into to Tuscaloosa and won. That's really big. And Bond, Golden, Bolden and other transfers won't be fazed by the Ann Arbor atmosphere.

Credit to Mr. Peanut and Penn St. He's now 25-0 straight up and 20-4-1 when he's favored by 7 or more at Penn St.

Now he still does Mr. Peanut things, like going for 2 after the 1st score, but they did look good. No Michigan on the schedule the schedule and he can actually lose to Ohio St this year, and go to the playoff.

Had a decent starting Week 0/1, tailed a lot a BookieAssasin plays and that went well - as usual. Had Stanford +10 but put a 1H Live play on TCU Pk about half way thru 1Q. Clearly the more talented team but man are they stupid. Stupid penalties (they had over 100 penalty yards) and TOs (fumbled handoff at 1st goal at 5, etc.) cost me the bet. Very hesitant to back them again. Hate betting stupid, error prone teams.

It wouldn’t be my life if it didn’t go down just like this Sunday! I drop 70% my mlb winnings for day loading up on 2 different lsu rb props and guess who was only player I had who cashed easy?!?? The fucking lsu tight end as LSU most productive rb I don’t even think they had a line for!!! At least I did play the te a bit, if I paired him with right 2 players tonight I can continue kissing my sister this ncaa weekend which be totally fine I just want the mlb money I worked hard for yesterday back! Didn’t even know fsu was tonight! I was rushing to out parlays together on both! Got a little too high!! Took away my chance to bet usc 2nd half which was plan after lsu 1st and under! I was too high to drive back and make bet tho! Lol.

End of day I wrote a lot in my book that I think will give me a better chance to smash a week 1 in coming years, gotta play the long game! Lol.

I was tied up yesterday and watched SC / LSU recording late last night. Wow. A Sept 1 game, no less, with high, very high, intensity along with a crowd to match. Some elite athleticism and corresponding plays being made. Great electricity and entertainment to match.
