NHL Picks Today: Wednesday, November 19
Carolina Hurricanes vs. Minnesota Wild
Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 9:30 p.m. ET
None of Minnesota’s last four games saw more than four goals in regulation. The Wild defense has improved tremendously: goaltenders are allowing fewer goals and defensemen are making goaltending easier by limiting the quality of opposing shot attempts. Individual defensemen who are contributing to this improvement include Jared Spurgeon and Jake Middleton. Hence, in addition to allowing fewer goals than it did earlier in the season, Minnesota allows a lower expected goal total. Importantly, the Wild are not simply benefiting from facing soft competition. They shut out an Anaheim team that ranks seventh in goal-scoring offense. The Wild now rank eighth, along with Carolina, in goal-scoring defense.
Carolina’s goal-scoring defense ranking provides further support for the “under.” Minnesota also simply isn’t dangerous offensively. The Wild are the only team to have scored fewer than 30 goals thus far. Minnesota’s well-tested defense will do just as much as Carolina’s defense to ensure a low-scoring game.
For the above reasons, wager on the under 6 at +100 with BetMGM.
Boston Bruins vs. Anaheim Ducks
Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 10 p.m. ET
This is a game in which location is decisively important. Anaheim has won six out of its seven home games, with the one loss coming early in the season to Carolina. The Ducks enter tonight’s game having won five straight home games. Location matters because they’ll regularly play the same team well at home that they struggled against on the road. For example, they lost 6-3 at Detroit but won 5-2 at home against Detroit. I love Anaheim tonight because they actually won at Boston – by two goals, in fact. Logically speaking, one must expect an even stronger Ducks win tonight. One could reasonably only doubt this line of thought if Boston were a good road team, but the same criteria show that the Bruins are substantially worse on the road than at home.
Therefore, wager on Ducks -1.5 at +158 with Caesars.
