Outside of facing Oakland('s dogshit offense), Detroit has conceded at least 4 runs in 14 of their last 15 games.

Since July the 6th, the Chicago Cubs are...

- 18-2 SU in games which they score at least 3 runs (15-5 to Over)

- 0-9 SU in games which they score 2 runs or less (8-1 to Under)

Capping a side for their games has been as straightforward as simply concerning yourself with how their offense will go.

honestly, the moment I saw that game hit Over tonight I looked into the details. If everything is right, could be my first under of the season.

early signs are Under is liked, not what I'd want to see.

Kansas City will be facing Buehrle for the 4th time in just over a month.

7/10 - 7.1 IP for 0 ERs (at KC)
7/18 - 7.0 IP for 3 ERs (at CWS)
8/02 - 4.1 IP for 8 ERs (at KC)

He's progressively be touched up each new start, which logic would suggest would happen given the ever growing familiarity aspect.

crawford is probably done for the year

Carl Crawford will undergo surgery to repair the torn tendon band in his right hand.

He'll likely miss the rest of the regular season, although the team feels he could return for the last couple of games. It's a big loss for the Rays, who could look at Kenny Lofton or even (dare we mention) Barry Bonds for depth in the outfield. For now, they'll platoon Eric Hinske and Justin Ruggiano. maybe they go after Sheff?

Simply amazing.

Yankees or pass IMO :

This was a must WIN not sure if I would expect them to bounce back had they lost this one .

Hitting medicore stuff RHPs on the road isnt a problem for them . They have touched up Slowey the 2 times they have faced him . Despite Rasner's struggles and Moeller being cut (his personal catcher ) the key is Darrell has held it together all 3 times he faced Minny . Which is good since I would expect at least 5 or 6 runs from the yanks .

Slowley in 6 day starts is 1-4 (team 2-4)

29.2 Inn 37 H 23 runs(earned ) 4bb 24 K 7 Hrs 6.98 ERA

In fairness his Home starts are solid :
51 inn 43 h 21 r 7bb 39K 8Hr BUT he has 2 CG shutouts at home that account for
18 inn 9H 0R 1bb 13 K which means his other 6 starts produced
33inn 34h 21R 6bb 26K 8Hrs which would but his ERA near 6 ..

Rasner lost 5-1 @ Minny but the 6th inn was when the damage was done ...

Yansk 46-16 L62 Weds ...remember Yanks strong in Game 3s...still 44-13 L57

Slowley 0-6 L6 starts vs the AL East

Twins bats .259 avg , .320 OBP and just 3.9 runs in day games (18-18 record)

Yanks bats .275 avg , .344 OBP 4.9 runs in day games (25-15 record)

Slowly at home normal rest 5 times going 2-3 . No suprise since the AL owned the NL in IL Play the wins was one of his CG shutouts vs Milw who struggles vs RHSP and Wash. He lost to Tor (AL East ) , Balt (AL East ) and Cle. He was decent allowing 3,4 and 5 runs in 6 inninsg twice and 5.2 the other ....

Yanks ML for me ....

Interesting thing about Balt is while there Sunday record gets alot of publicity there WED record is not far behind . Which is why there Game 3 record is so terrible.

Balt @ Cle trends :
Balt 17-36 L53Game 3s
Balt 6-21 L27 Weds
Baly 3-15 L18 Guthrie starts in Game 3s
Cle 1-10 L11 Weds
Balt 7-25 L32 @@ CLE
Balt 3-14 after a LOSS(in Game 2) in Game 3
Balt on the road with a 9 or 9.5 total 10-20 SU/ Cle 8-14 at home
Balt 5-12 WED in 2008 & 26-43 past 3 seasons / Cle 5-12 & 30-38 past 3

Guthrie is 1-2 away and 2-1 over with a 9 or 9.5 total winning @ Cubbies vs Marshall another AL win in IL play shocking !

Balt 3-16 L19 times they scored 3 runs or less on the road since May 1st. Funny part is they are 2-0 last 2 times it happened 3-1 @ Sea and 3-0 @ LAA....

Also 2-6 in that span scoring 4 runs and lost the last 6 games in that stretch......

5-22 away scoring 4 runs or less ...:shake:

Leans:
Yanks ML (almost definetly a play)

FLA ML

SD ML (maybe -1.5 RL fade SD against LHSP)

DET ML

Boston ML

Oak ML

Possibly REDS ML as well ...depending on lineups and Philly ML

[Confused]

He is meaning SD RL +1.5.I think he does. I am leaning this play too but won't be able to break it down till I get home. Got to run it through my little program I developed.I will post it on this thread what I come up with.:shake:

If Geise is starting 2marrow for NYY then I'm definatly on em. He has had 2 great outings vs LAA and I don't see why he shouldn't do well here. I'm seeing that he might be the starter. Not sure who's official. Yanks in a landslided as well and they need every opportunity. Might as well take the guy who has potential in Geise

Luis Mendoza -

This guy is almost a joke. In his road starts, opposition teams have put up 11, 19, 18, 10 & 9 run totals. In return he's received an average of 3.80 runs support, for an average losing margin of 9.60 runs (smallest losing margin of 8 runs, 3 times).

He's already had a(n April) start at Fenway (3 IP for 7 ERs) for a 3-11 loss (he faced Dice-K - Manny went 1-4 w/no BBs, RBIs or runs scored).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

John Lester -

suffered a rare loss his last start. Boston this season are 6-1 SU in a Lester start following a loss in his previous start (the sole loss being a road game that Lester got a NR in. Lester has gone 11 home games w/out being tagged with a loss).

This season he has given up 0, 4, 3, 0, 0 & 0 ERs following a start where he gave up 4 ERs or more (briefest subsequent outing being 6.1 IP). He gave up 4 ERs his last start prior to Wednesday's game.

He has only once gone less than 7 IP his last 10 starts (the sole exception an IL road game).

Boston has won 9 straight Lester home starts, by 1, 4, 7, 6, 7, 2, 1, 7 & 10 run margins (average margin of 5.00 runs).

any reason not to keep hammering
clev
LAA
Hous?

the Angels are 0-4 SU off their last 4 instances of winning 5 straight games, and they have only 1 winning streak longer than 5 this season. They've just taken 8 of 10 off the Red Sox & the Yankees, and their offense has been unusually consistently productive in doing so. I'd give SEA w/King Felix going a decent shot at catching the Angels in a lax or disinterested spot tomorrow. LAA are only 5-4 SU in Santana home starts this season.

[Confused]

Sorry meant Milw ML and probably -1.5 .

Banks is more consistent and solid then Baek . However SD just dosnt hit LHP and think what little runs they tend to get come off Hrs with CC and Petco this is not a good situation for that . With Peavy on deck you would want to take care of SD here IMO even with Sheets dealing against him. .

Last home stand Zito and Davis had shutouts vs them and Doug Davis near perfect outing . All season just 6-13 at home vs LHP which includes THREE 2-1 wins basically in arow Lilly-Johan-Oliver Perez. They beat Reyes 4-1 , Andrew Miller 10-1 and John Lannan 5-2

So in 5 wins they allowed no runs or 1 and the other game / win they allowd 2 runs. Pretty tough to lose that way and with SD pen questionable when called on IMO hard to think they can allow 1 or less or even 2 runs or less here. They scored more then 3 runs at home vs a LH in just 6 of the 19 games with I am sure some help from the opposing pens which MILWs is not that great but CC can go deep into games.

SD 4-18 L22 at home. CC allowed just 3 runs away so far vs other LH challenged lineups in ATL , STL and SFG . He has allowed 3 2 1 0 6 2 0 as a Brewer(including pens -full game opponent scores)

52Ks in 58 inn . Only 10 runs and 2 Hrs allowed . 4 CG in 7 starts and 8.1 in another , 6 with 2 earned or less. He hosted SD as ain Indian which he had 1 rough inning allowing 3 runs but barely a hit outside of that . Think 8 inn 6 h 3 r 1bb 10K and SD is much better on the road offensively.

CCin 2008 vs the NL:
10 starts 80 innings 55 hits 16 runs 14 earned 3Hrs 16BBs 83Ks

Away:
4starts 33.1 inn 18H 4 runs(earned) 4bbs 36K (@ LAD , @ATL , @ SFG , @ STL)

L22 at home for SD scored 4 runs twice and 5 or more runs in 4 games otherwise 16 times they scored 3 or less......

Priced high but understandable:cheers:

Mendoza can only really get out RHBs at this point which is why teams like Wsox and jays struggled vs him at home. They have but a few LHBs .

Road Losses for Mendoza:
1-9 @ Balt
2-10 @ ( WSox after beating them)
7-18 @ NYY
6-19 @ Det (day start)
3-11 @ Fenway

Lester 18-4 L22
Texas 9-32 L41 @ Fenway (0-5 so far)

Boston 96-24 L120 times laying more then 200 at home
Texas 16-37 L 53 away vs LHSP

Texas 5-14 Away vs LHSP in 2008 . Scored 3 runs or less in 12 and 4 runs in another so just 6 times with 5 + runs and recently Clayton Richard and CHris Waters were guys they beat up on. They love AAA SPs see Richard , Waters and Zink today

Bradley huge key for them since his return 15 and 17 runs but also faced JV pitchers Waters and Zink.

Avg Score for Lester at home is 6-3 and that sounds very reasonable although pen availability should be interesting and well 9 is the low off Texas when Mendoza starts on the road ...so maybe 8-3 is better guess:shake:

I thought Giese would start here to . Didnt really look to deep as that was the rumor . Would make sense. regardless him or Rasner at Even money is a strong Yankee play for me....oh so you could be right it might very well be Dan Giese. Rasner has 1 bad inning in 2 starts vs Twinkies just hate no Chad Moeller for him . His stats were "excellent" with Moeller and gross with any other catcher:cheers:

Thought that today and was almost right but they beat me at the buzer twice ...down 3-0 killed my 1st 5 inn ML with 4 runs b5th and then winning 4-3 score 3 more in the 8th kill my +1.5 RL Sattle play .

Just dont no . The pen is overworked at this point and shorthanded with Rhodes dealt and Morrow being stretched out to be a SP. Plus having Smith spot start doesnt help any . Think Ervin Santana did have some issues vs SEA in the past ...

Just looked at it. Rasner definetly starting with Kennedy demoted AGAIN Dan Giese will take his spot .

Rotation; Moose , Pettitte , Ponson , Giese , Rasner ....yikes !! Put Wang then Joba in the 1st 2 spots and then the rotation looks good with Ponson becoming dependable.....

Also last game of road trip puts some emphasis on this for NYY as well IMO,,

SportsNut, quick question about the Yankee game buddy. Back on July 22nd they faced at Yankee Stadium and Rasner was about a -130 fave over Slowey. Now in their rematch Slowey is in fact the fave albeit smaller at -115ish. What's your take on the 45 cent swing? Is it based solely on the fact Minny's at home + Minny has been on a hot streak?

I'm always curious to see how pitchers respond in their rematch and the line has been flipflopped between who is favored.

This is the numbers I came up with for the Pads/Brewers game. I was thinking maybe the over for this game or Brewer TT. I do not like fave runlines. I figure I would try and contribute to the thread.

I'm going to be on The Red Sox RL for quite a bit
was going to play the Sox TT, but its @ -147 (6)

I thought Giese would start here to . Didnt really look to deep as that was the rumor . Would make sense. regardless him or Rasner at Even money is a strong Yankee play for me....oh so you could be right it might very well be Dan Giese. Rasner has 1 bad inning in 2 starts vs Twinkies just hate no Chad Moeller for him . His stats were "excellent" with Moeller and gross with any other catcher:cheers:

SN,

You are some kind of handicapper that observes things the average joe doesn't see. For your information as well as the others here, Aatcher coming to a team in the middle of the season is usually disasterous!(Barrett to SD, Kendall to the Cubs a few years ago) Pudge has started 5 games and is 1-4 and the win was with Rasner. He went 4in 5 ERA, 3 walks and 1K. Pudgee has also come in to two loses late including where Rivera give up the winning hit. Last night was the FIRST time that he helped the team to win when he came in. This might be worth keeping an eye on!

the nationals are a weak team but bergmann has really turned his season around. he is coming off 1 run ball in 7 innings @ coors. prior to that he struggled against the reds (5 runs in 1 big inning, that's all) in nationals park. his 3 starts at home before the reds game were terrific.

july 10 vs. ari - 7 ip, 6 h, 2 r, 3 k
june 29 vs. bal - 7 ip, 6 h, 1 r, 3 k
june 23 vs. laa - 7 ip, 6 h, 1 r, 6 k

after a month trying to rediscover his form in the minors, bergmann returned on may 15th and pitched 7 innings of 3 hit shutout ball with 9 strikeouts @ shea as the nationals beat pelfrey 1:0

desperation for mets? all this talk of maine possibly going to bullpen. he hasn't pitched in 2 weeks due to injury nor had he been effective in his recent starts other than going 7 strong agaisnt the phillies. maine works up huge pitch counts and the mets bullpen has some gaping holes. granted, washington has no reliable arms in the bullpen but bergmann, if he is on, has shown he can pitch deep into a game.

odds are kind of a joke imo

nationals ml +137 - 2 units to win 2.74 units
nationals rl +1.5 -124 - 2.48 units to win 2 units

SportsNut, quick question about the Yankee game buddy. Back on July 22nd they faced at Yankee Stadium and Rasner was about a -130 fave over Slowey. Now in their rematch Slowey is in fact the fave albeit smaller at -115ish. What's your take on the 45 cent swing? Is it based solely on the fact Minny's at home + Minny has been on a hot streak?

I'm always curious to see how pitchers respond in their rematch and the line has been flipflopped between who is favored.

I would say it is based on the home field swing . Again the worth of home field is just a designation not a real value . Its more an assumed value . I always say you really have to worst case account for a 60 cent swing and sometimes up to a $1 in baseball for switching home venues . It's just not a concrete thing though. So if -130 was fair at one place then IMO -130 would be fair in the other venue. However I do think NY was cheap at home laying just -130 with Rasner by at least 20 cents IMO. So I was assuming Twins would be -115 here ...

I am always skeptical when SP have a rematch but more if its a week to 10 days time. This was about 3 weeks ago so not as concerned.

If you look at the 1st game where Perkins opened -120 vs Ponson then I would say that was a good line to work off . Rasner is close to Ponson talent level and value as in pricing of a SP while the same can be said for Perkins and Slowley . Now Ponson is worth more then Rasner but would feel that when Perkins faced NY compared to when Slowley did the LH was in a much better situation ( one being a lH facing NY on the road and off a tough loss @ LAA and sweep) . So really I would be looking for something in this area -115 to -125 as what I would deem correct .

It's just my view on the situation so take it as an opinion. BOL Charlie:cheers:

Minn is 40-22 at home with a real starter who has lost twice at NY, Rasner is 2-5 on the road with a 6.25 road era. Homer ump. A spread of 15 cents. I see many big plays on the Yankees. Here is a 1 unit play on Minn mixed su and rl. By the way last 5 road series in game 3 NY went 1-4 in game 3.

I tend to agree . Teams like Pitt and Wash though probably will see high odds for the rest of the year . The key is as you said picking spots .

My one concern is Nats work vs RHP but they did beat 3 RH vs Cincy . On the road Wash is something like 3-17 L20 vs RHSP.

Bergmann is a solid SP IMO . Not sure what happened in April but it was corrcted in the minors and he has been consistent IMO since his recall. His record is terrible because of the run support he recieves.

Maine's DL stint seems like a need for caution and extra reliever . Still not happy about how he says he is just okay( mean this as a baseball fan doesnt sound convincing that he feels good) and would guess that even before his injury he was struggling to do anything more then 6 innings . So we are looking again at the Mets pen to finish off a game for probably at least 3 innings . Plus like 90% of athletes when you know your needed and what your team to depend on you there is a real chance you unknowingly convince yourself that you are okay .

John Maine is on course for start

<!-- ARTICLE CONTENT START -->WASHINGTON - John Maine pronounced himself fit to return from the disabled list for Wednesday night's start against the Nationals.
Maine never even wanted to leave a July 28 start at Florida with what was later diagnosed as a mild strain of the right rotator cuff. He also insisted he could have pitched last weekend had he not been on the DL as a way to fit reliever Eddie Kunz onto the roster. Maine instead tossed a 61-pitch simulated game Friday at Shea.
"I was hurting in Miami, but I still could have been out there and pitched," Maine said. "You're going to go out there with bumps and bruises and dings most of the time. You just have to deal with it.
"I threw 60 pitches (in the simulated game), almost at full speed, and I felt okay. And I feel okay now. So I'm not really concerned."
To clear room for Maine, the Mets optioned Carlos Muniz to Triple-A New Orleans. Brian Stokes will work out of the bullpen, and may get an occasional start down the stretch to give extra rest to the five regular starters.

I am interested in seeing the kid Kunz pitch(as in see him for myself to evaluate) as he was there closer on the minors but AA I believe not certain.

Mets are "Lucky" to have Oliver Perez tmrw but Wash scares me abit vs LHP when they have a bunch of solid RHBs Zimmerman , Milledge , Flores and Belliard (at times Kearns). Balester like most young SP hard to know what to expect every outing but he seems to be decent as well . Nats pen is also overworked and depending on who and what is used today could be even worse off tmrw as Balester hits the wall most starts in the 5th inning ...(guess learning to adjust to hitters who 3rd time a work in progress )....Perez though medicore vs Wash in previous starts...{Pena though is his key nemesis)

Basically I agree hard to pass on Wash here at the price . Just wish I was more certain that they could snag Game 3 and probably gonna be like -180 ish tmrw I owuld imagine...(-200 vs Johan both times @ Wash , maine being -140 , Ollie being better then maine of late and Balester a dropoof from bergmann) Mets had there ACE dealing yesterday and faced a LH but still managed but a 4-3 win...sign of a team not playing up to expectations IMO.....

Thanks Action. I am really a perceptive person in all aspects of life which has been a great assest in developing my trading skills when I was a bond trader and here as a sports capper. It comes with a price though- paranoia . You see so many things that others dont see or before others see it . That after a while you can start to read to much at times into certain things because you almost expect some sort of underlying hidden aspect....

Pudge as I much as love the acquistion and respect him as a player really scares me as a catcher from the game calling / handling of pitcher aspect. I hate to say so far I think he is terrible and worse is he is HOF catcher . Which is like an oxymoron when I watch him cause he is obviously that bad... I have really come to understand just how good Jose Molina is behind the dish and how good Jorge Posada was last year watching the shoulder issue destroy him in 2008 ...

Anyway I am not running to back the games in the immediate future with Pudge and if he fucks up well I cant really complain. A good point about the Pods as well but one thing I see as being over comed( poor word or choice of one ) is the fact he is making mistakes you learn to correct in college ball....they are very avoidable ...maybe its the new staff learning curve but vs LAA alot was commonsense baseball and the usual know nothing announcers in both meltdowns (Edwar GS game and Veras 2 solo Hrs ) immediately questioned picth selection.

Guess I am trying to remain hopeful as a Yankee fan it changes soon ...

Thanks and GL !

Just so you know the site - scoresandodds.com is real good for having players who could be rested or out listed seemingly before one would know . So I saw that earlier ...had mauer as probable ...

Just thought it would be good to know for a place to check thats fairly reliable IMO....:shake:

took Yankees ML and Minni TT over 4.5

For some reason they didnt move the TT lines when the total did, thought i'd take advantage...no way Rasner escapes unscathed here.
