I think it's worth reposting these (updated) stats...

TBY in G 1s - 10-2 to Over
TOR in G 1s - 7-4-1 to Over

TBY in G 2s/3s & 4s - 16-4 to Under
TOR in G 2s/3s & 4s - 18-3-1 to Under

So here you have 2 teams who combined are
17-6-1 to Over for Game 1 of a series, and
34-7-1 to Under for Game's 2 & beyond.

lean under and reds with volquez and lieber who pitches better away... He historically does better during the day, but not so much this season..
Definitely a weather/ump decision with that park though.. additional thoughts?

cliff lee and the tribe are looking like a good looking value play tomorrow..... although wang did shut down the indians in clev just a week ago giving up 4 hits K'ing 9 0 ER in 7 IP.
will look at a first 5 under play in that one, as we can expect both SP to be exceptional.
yanks are still struggling to manufacture runs with the injuries to arod and posada, and have been lacking consistency from the 5-9 spots. matsui, abreu, and jeter cant do it all themselves.
giambi, cano, and betemit all batting under .200, and molina might as well be as too.
it's easy to shutdown a team when you only have to worry about getting through the first 4 batters.

also like ATL RL and Jays RL, (or may just ML parlay them both together)

definitely would like to fade dave bush on the road tomorrow but in doing so I have to back badenhop who has actually been WORSE, if thats even possible.
bush faced the fish once in 07 and was solid, giving up 1 ER and K'ing 5, although he did give up 8 hits throughout 6 IP. badenhop never faced MIL.
plus the screwers got shut out today, we can look for them to put up some runs tomorrow. may play the over, but screwers seem to hit LHP alot better then RHP

possibly the tigers as well but i hate to do it with these silent bats.
bucholz with a 0-2 record and 6.48 ERA would be a good pitcher to wake them up though, and galaragga has been lights out, but how long will that last?

WILL BE FADING THE SHIT OUT OF ZITO WITH PIRATES RL
(when the line comes out, still waitin for it here)
cant believe he was already thrown back into the starting rotation,
giants really dont want to win games do they?

Think I like the reds (again) ...

With Welke behind the dish and a tighter zone the edge should go to the power pitcher Volzquez.

Leiber is making his 1st start of the season and first in nearly a year. he has been decent so far out of the pen but his best work was done early on vs a slumping Pitt team that he went 8 inn allowing 7hits no runs compared to 11.1 inn 14 hits 7runs 4 earned vs the rest of the league. He wont be around that long long maybe 5 doubt he makes 6 innings but the Cubs have had pen issues outside of Marmol . The only guy doing well seems to be Marshall and they have made him a situational LH it seems with 12 games and 6.2 innings. His longest appearance is 1 inning ! Leiber was eating innings but he is starting. Wuertz , Hart and Howry have struggled .

The trio 46.1 Inn 55 h 31 runs 28earned 8hrs 18bb 31Ks. Though Sean gallagher could be in the mix since he was recently called up . His lone appearance 2 scoreless innings vs STL allowing 1 hit. Last year not very good though .....

So now Fox is the mix as well with Gallagher as a middle reliever possible long man or mop up role. As you can see Fox has not be around for awhile. He was fantastic in 2001 and then injuries destroyed him. Barely pitched in 2002 , think he started with Boston and got then went to FLorida or the opposite started with FLA pitched well and was an under the radar type addition to try and bloster the PEN to lay to check....but being he was in FLA for 2004 think it was the first scenario cut in Bos then picked up by Florida. Anyway didnt do much in 2004 and 2005 then assume he was hurt and / or in the minors for 2006 and 2007.

So in addition to Gallagher and Fox and Marshall from the LH side the other middle men are Wuertz who is hot and cold type along Howry.

Howry 15.1 Inn 23 H 14 R 12 Er 3 Hr 2 bb 11 K. So far a bad start for the vet in 15 appearances he he allowe a run in at least 9 of them ! Though he has been better away so far 8 inn 9 h 5r 4er 2bb 4 K 4.50 ERA 1.38 WHIP .290 BAA but LH this year 9 for 24 1 Hr 2bb 4 ks. Without checking indivual splits Howry does have very good numbers in his career vs Cincy....<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=ysprow1 align=right><TD class=yspscores align=left height=16>Career vs. CIN</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>29</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>0</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>2</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>4</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>0</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>0</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>0</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>27.0</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>27</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>8</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>6</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>2</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>6</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>25</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>2.00</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>1.22</TD><TD class=yspscores height=16>.262</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Wuertz has pitched better but has terrible numbers vs CIncy in his career. He has improved of late 4.2 inn 3 h 1 run allowed last few apps. Career vs Cincy....

So if Leiber only goes 4 or 5 innings there could be a opprtunity for Cincy till they would see Marmol and Wood . Who they might not see if they hit enough early.

Thing is Leiber has been real good his last 3 starts vs Cincy although he was roughed in an inning of relief this year. (1inn 3H 3r 2er 1hr)

However his day splits are pretty bad past few years..

So despite 3 great outings vs Cincy in hi slast 3 starts the splits are so-so.

I guess if there is any truth to Leibers recent day struggles thats a great sign because all 3 of the above starts Leiber made vs Cincy were at NIGHT !

For Cubs Ramirez returned today but go back to what I said about Chicago on Monday because Volzquez is the same type power pitcher as Cueto. Also remember the Cubbies inconsistent offense and the fact they scored 3 on Monday and 3 on tuesday...I doubt 3 RUNS win the game for Chi on Wed.....Cubs 16-1 scoring 4 or better and 3-13 when scoring 3 runs or less.....

Cubs defense has been poor couple errors lead to the runs on Monday think all were unearned and today 2 more errors but Zambrano was lights out something neither Dempster or leiber could expect to be. Hopefully Soto get sthe day off.

Cincinnati will counter with Edinson Volquez(4-1, 1.27 ERA) who has allowed one earned run or none in each of his six starts. He has 42 strikeouts in 35 1-3 innings. RHB just 170 BAA and his day splits are real solid 3 runs in 17 + innings..he was solid already @ Wrigley where the Cubs offense has exploded only going 5 innings but allowed 4 hits and 1 run....

Also reds 6-3 in game 3 vs Cubbies 5-4 and Cubs go home after this while reds back on the road which should put alot of emphasis on getting a win here for Cincy first to WIN a series and second because of there road woes...

nut, are you feeling the tigs to avoid the sweep tomorrow?

bucholz on the road is the perfect medicine to wake these bats up....

tigs hittin .272 agaisnt RHP at home and perfect timing to bounce back afteer a shutout loss tonihgt

I've no interest in looking at the Reds/Cubs, of any NL games at the moment (what little baseball focus I have is for the AL), but it strikes me that the Cubs are about to return to their winning ways.

They went 3-8 SU prior to Monday's game, a losing streak that's understandable given it came off a 14-3 SU winning streak (breathe in, breathe out). They're 0-4 off their last 4 wins, I'd be shy banking on those losing ways off a win continuing. They've scored more than 3 runs just once in 6 games (for the 1st time this season), those bats were pounding before this losing stretch.

When Volquez kept the Cubs quiet in Chicago, Chitown was 2-0 up in that series off 9 & 12 run totals. They not unnaturally had a letdown in the series finale. Whatever Volquez is, he's not as good as his efforts to date project him to be. A correction in form is on it's way.

Volquez correction meets Cubs back on an upswing of form is my .02

plus: Cincy won their first home series of the season, and hasn't won another since (0-2-2, 5-9 SU)

From the standpoint they need to avoid being swept at home and to be swept back to back series...YES.

From the standpoint of will they hit Bucholz not really. Bucholz is basicallt what ails DET a RH power pitcher who will make DET swing and miss alot . The only knock on him so far is his road starts have been lackluster. Early @ Tor 5 inn 6 h 4 r 3 er 2bb 7 K , the game @ Yankee stadium was rough for both he & Wang who pitched good games a week before (so chalk that up to seeing him twice in a short span) and then was excellent @ TB but when he saw them a 2nd time was nipped up abit bythem . Problem is DET has never seen him and they havent done shit past 4 or 5 days outside ofa 6run 1 st inning @ Minny...think 1,1,6 ,3 ,0 last few for DET and of that 11 runs 6 came in the 1st @ minny so 5 runs the other 44 innings OUCH....

Granted Bucholz 4 career away starts all losses and he was road chalk 3 times so with ayoung SP expectations seem way to high.

Reynolds umping home teams are 5-1 though no previous preference, and Red Sox are 3-7 last 10 he umped for them going back to 2004 .Home team is 9-4 past 13 when Reynolds called a DEt game...

Galarragga has suprised me at how effective he has been and he did lose @ Minny but was decent . Both SP havent really passed the 6th inning so both pens will be involved which might be a plus for Boston with how DET is suddenly struggling out there.....

Really I will probably play DET simply based on the sweep factor at home and the fcat Bucholz is getting inflated on the road as chalk and not finding ways to win....really though DET needs a win but there isnt much to there benefit here besides that....

These are some initial thoughts without any research.

I'm feeling the Indians at plus money with Lee. Tough to bet against Wang with the way he's pitched but I think the value is with the Tribe. Probably a game that goes under.

Cardinals +105. Relatively even pitching matchup with the hot team.

I also lean Cubs. Volquez doesn't go deep in games and the Reds can't hit. Be sure to take that into consideration tommorrow if you are considering the Reds.If you like the Reds, 5inn is the way to go IMO.

Also like the Twins a good bit.

i think i will be on zito and the giants at anything close to what people might think is reasonable.

just got the opening line for the pitt game

-120/Even $$$

is even $$$ enough to back zito? although the line should climb north from -120 and you should be able to see +110- +114 by game time tomorrow....

just so in love with the giants tomorrow. this may be the rare exception where i put an extra hundred on a game.

yum yum

i think zona spanks them ... by a lot. But i will never lay that kind of number. ... and really i think if they played the game 100 times that any value would be in the phillies at that line. ... but no way i can back them ... bad spot for phils imo.

The 1st series bewteen these two was one of those Windy Wrigley series which is why there was so many runs IMO . Which tends to favor the better hitting team which is definetly the Cubs especially at home. Harang was done IN during game 1 on 2 Hrs accounting for all the runs see how little they did today vs him , Fogg is Batting Practice and was treated as such with windy conditions to exaggerate it , so while it could have been a letdown I think it was more the fact Reds didnt have the wind issue that day and now had the better starting pitcher as Lilly was struggling at the time.

Also reason why Cubs have slumped is fairly simple. They were hot and scoring a bunch when they were facing alot of LHP specifically the Pirates staff .

Its actually funny when you look at the Cubs last 12 games same sequence the whole time...

L , L , W
L , L , W
L, L , W
L , L . W

so after a WIN do we expect the pattern to continue with a Loss?? Who knows just stands out when you look at there schedule

At home vs Pitt both Duke and Gorzelanny started and were smashed 13 runs both games. Both LHP and they scored 12 and 19 at home again when the wind was blowing out 1st vs Cincy and Fogg and just recently vs Milw and Suppan. On the road @ Pitt 10 , 6 ,7 vs LHP Duke and Gorzelanny again plus the 7 spot vs the now retired Matt Morris. So thats 42 runs in 4 starts vs 2 Pitt LHP . The reason why we see the big numbers is bad pitching with unfavorable conditions and at this time Pitts pitching was terrible see what it allowed at LAD the series before and its pen was taxed . Gorzelanny has battled shoulder issues as well while Duke is a soft tosser who allows a ton of hits.....

Then I look deeper at there production at HOME all year ...Oswalt was not sharp @ SD in the opener plus he was hit with a line drive .Well his next start is @ Wrigley and hit hard as Cubs get 9 that day , opening series put up 6 vs Bush at home who has one of the highest road ERAs past few years , 9 vs Harang with the WIND out , 12 vs Fogg with the wind out , 13 and 13 vs Duke and Gorzelanny , 7 vs Maine but it was BS as the Cubs get 5 in the 8th of 2-1 game and had a pinch hit Grand Slam , then 8 vs Figuerora and again 4 in the 8th inning on a grand slam !! The travel to COL score 7 vs a LHP Morales who they didnt hit that well really but Rocks pen fell apart blew the game and allowed 3 runs in the 9th and 10 thinnings ( Corpas since demoted) and then the 12 game slide begins where they went 4-8. Only 4 times they scored more then 3 runs since were 7 @ Wash vs Chico who happens to 0-5 with nearly a 7 ERA , they scored 7 in a loss vs Milw when Sheets was returning from his biceps strain so he was far from a 100% which meant they would hit against the Brewers pen which is terrible and they did get 3 runs of the pen , Suppan start where they scored 19 , and 9 vs Lohse on the weekend which I think the wind was blowing out again and had a 6 run 4th and later tacked on 3 runs.....

So basically the Cubs have feasted on Pirate pitching especially its LHP plus a retired SP and its very tired pen at the time , they have feasted when the wind was blowing OUT at Wrigley basically of pitchers who didnt have swing and miss stuff outside of harang who again shut them down today , they have feasted on injured SP like Oswalt and Sheets , and they have feasted on bad pens like Colorado's and later Milws plus the mets and pirates pens.

What they havent done IMO is hitting solid pitching and specifically solid RHP ...below is the games where they have had there typical 3 run games..

Harang , Cueto and Wellenmeyer started past 3 and allowed 3 in each. Granted Wellenmeyer as quality is a stretch but there is a reason Cards only allow 3 runs per at home this year ( solid pen helps) , 3 vs Wainright and 3 vs Gallardo , 0 vs Lannan which could be due to never facing him but he has been inconsistent good at times bad at others , 3 vs Odalis Perez who has been a pleasant suprise all year , 2 vs Aaron Cook , 3 vs Ian Snell , 2 vs Volzquez , 1 vs Hamels , 3 vs Myers , and early on at home 3 vs Backe , Sampson , Sheets and Suppan...which goes to show you w/o the wind issue just about every RH has given them troubles so far....

We look at Cubs splits and see HUGE dropoffs in production when they travel and when they faced RHP. Lets forget them playing @ Pitt as they abuse that staff .

13 road games since and 9 times they scored 3 runs or less...the 4 they didnt

6 vs Moyer @ philly. Again soft tossing LHP who will allow alot of HITS and really the PEN struck here again allowing the game to be tied in teh 8th and lost in the 10th.

7 vs Morales @ Col. Which I explained somewhat as they had just 3 runs in 6 innings off him but there pen is poison like so many . Rocks pen allowed 1 in the 7th then two to tie in the 9th , and one to lose in the 8th .

7 vs Chico was after a decent start is one of the worst SP in the majors at this point

9 vs Lohse this weekend. I believe the wind was blowing out strong to RF please check though. They had a 6run 4th inning when Lohse got in trouble and Fotenot hit a 3run Hr . The first Lohse allowed all year ..That one inning was a bad time," Lohse said. "One inning where it just got out of whack."
Seven straight Cubs reached safely with one out in the fourth, with Lohse unraveling after giving up hits to Lee and Fukudome after being ahead 0-2 in the count against both. Fukudome doubled off the base of the right-field wall for an RBI and Soto had a two-run double before Fontenot hit a three-run drive into the St. Louis bullpen for a 6-0 lead.
Lohse said he tried to throw a cutter down and inside to Fukudome, and instead the pitch caught the inside corner. He said the home run pitch to Fontenot was aimed at the inside corner but drifted over the plate.
"It's a game of inches," Lohse said. "If it gets in there two or three more inches, it's a popup."

So of 16 road games they have scored more then 3 runs twice when a RHP started the game. Thats 8 away games vs RHP and just 2 games where they scored better then 3 times....vs the now retired Matt Morris who basically said he has nothing left in the tank and one bad inning @ STL vs Lohse where after being 0-0 the shit just hit the fan and it all unravled. The other 6 games they scored 3 on 5 occassions and 2runs the other....

So why should we expect the Cubs to hit here vs a solid RHP who throws hard and has been consistent so far this year .

if zito can get thru the first couple of innings without giving up anything, i think he'll be fine

Think I Monday I said Cubs were 315 at home and before today were at 248 on the road . As I just mentioned 8 away games vs RHP and in 6 of them they scored 3 or less only touching Morris and Lohse for more. Morris is collecting his paycheck at home and Lohse just had his worst inning in awhile after being on a role . Allowed his 1st Hr gave up two 0-2 hits and if I recall we had strong wind that day to RF....

ScoresandOdds list Ramirez as DOUBTFUL for Wed but not sure how accurate that is . Like maybe its a carry over from todays info that hasnt been changed.....

With SFG vs Pitt . While I love the outside the box thinking what Pitt is doing to LHP lately as I outlined in the thread today is just absurd...FEAST...granted they face Dumtrait who is LH and who should get smacked around by SF as well who was late to the party with 6 late runs....good signs Aurilia 3 more hits and Castillo hit a 3 run HR continuing his recent improvement and although he didnt start nice to see Bowker go 2-2 as he ahs really struggled after that quick start and presumable pitchers making adjustments....Pitts lineup dangerous vs LHP an dnow waking up while McLouth is being compared to Ralph Kiner ? Also dropped from teh leadoff spot to be more of arun producer...Sanchez who punded LHP last 2 years woke up with 3 hits , Gomez had 2 hits as well , LaRoche is showing signs hitting a 2 run HR of Sanchez his 2nd in past few days.....

Seems like another game for RUNS but I admit scared after seeing 18 put up here about backing another over....

Nice analysis on Cubs/Reds SN...I was on the OVER today (idiot) knowing that since when Cubs played in CINCY the total was 1-8 O/U since last year. In all of those games, CINCY SP started a RHP. The only one that went OVER was with Homer Bailey. The real problem is CINCY at home has hit a meager .212 BA and 3.0 rpg vs Cubs pitching. Tomorrow B Welke is behind the dish and he's 6-0 with 14.2 rpg in his contests. I considered B Welke an UNDER guy until this season. I really want to play the OVER again tomorrow, but a little gun shy with these two teams here in Cincy.

anyone have thoughts on wainwright/francis ?

On the surface Francis has pitched well in his career vs STL. The Rocks showed some late life scoring 3 in the 9th think I may like the 1st inning score Prop as hopefully that momentum carries over .

Jeff Francis (R) Previous Starts vs. St. Louis

What sticks out about his season so far is he has faced LAD and ARI twice . Can you name two better teams in the ML vs LHP ( maybe Cubs and Brewers) . The starts vs Philly and SD where much better though he had one good one @ Dodger Stadium....he also faced STL in the opener which was later ruined out > Pujols had Hred think Cards lead 3-0 early but Francis was struggling to begin teh season and worse getting unfavorable matchups...

Wainright is really good but I wonder how his curve ball holds up @ Coors and also if being his 1st time there if he struggles in general. He has been pretty good away( 14 inn 12 4bbs 6runs) so far but also faced SFG when it was slumping and Milw which doesnt hit RHP....Col has some tough LHB which should make it interesting....Cards are 7-5 vs LHSP but they havent hit exceptionally well vs them more a mixture of timely hitting and sound pitching .

This series has been fairly close despite STL pitching edges...win 6-5 late and hold on 6-5 late when Redman was pitching.

Also not a sweep game because they do meet again Thursday but one would think with DeLaRosa vs Lohse this is the better chance to win and that could be huge since they travel after this......STL 252 away vs LH and Col 270 at home vs RHP.....truth is COL is terrible LATELY ! Ankiel had OF assistscutting down big runners at 3rd base in teh 1st when Taveras tried tagging up and to the lead of the 8th supposedly gunned down Quintilla from the warningtrack as he lead off the inning trying for a TRIPLE...huge opp lost obviously but Rocks showed heart and 1 were 1 hit away today.....
Just hate to have lay money when teams are struggling:shake:

Dont feel so bad I forced alot of overs ( this one included) thinking the nicer weather would lead to more runs and well I was 4-6 on overs and lost the Grand Salami over as well( worse is alot were 2 units )..of course the total I spent the most time hit the easiest in Pitt and got me off the right foot which I later pissed away rather qucikly though 3 games really killed me maybe 4 ...NYY ML with Joba blowing and had that over and couldnt scratch another run for at least the push , The KC game they lead 3-0 early had them ML and they were hitting well then Garrett ties it 3-3 in the 4th which aint so bad because I had that over as well...and LAA wins 5-3... so 0-4 and expected at least 2-2 , then while I had the over 1st 5 innings at plus money for Oakland it won in the top 4th but had alot more on the over 8 and they scored just 1 more run the next 5 innings, last was stupid plays losing all 4 with Milw , over and Reds , over ....bad losses and bad plays makes a terrible day......oh and Wsox over falliung through didnt help..lots of chances late man on 2nd in teh eight for WSox but 2 batters couldnt socre him and same for Minny top 9th...break up the no-no and sort of suprised Floyd gets pulled but I guess they are desperate for a win....man on 2nd base with 2 outs to spare still no run.....

Anyway yeah I noticed how poorly Reds had hit Cubs pitching in Cincy after it had started . I figured Zambrano has struggled @ Great American recently and facing them twice they should get some runs while Harang was touched up by Cubbies earlier but after today convinced it was just the Wrigley wind factor. Thought both pens could be exposed but the never came into play really...Zambrano was awesome and Harang outside of a 2out crap hit by Cedeno wasnt much worse.....

The reason why I would agree it seems logical here (outside of the UMP trend)is first Leiber has terrible day splits last 2 + seasons..think he is avg like 4.runs per 6 innings but think because he hasnt started 6 innings is a stretch expectations wise and also a little more likely to get hit harder then usual plus an ump with a tight zone doesnt help a finesse pitcher like him. Day game hopefully nice weather brings out the bats...think 4 Reds are real good with day splits but the other 4 not so good at least so far...

past 2 years 11starts / 12 games 1win 7 losses
71.1 INN 95H 47R 43 ER 8Hrs 15 BB 40Ks

so say 4 runs per 6 innings...with so many runners he could be relieved with MOB as well..and if early enough if the game 4th or 5th (even if say just 3 runs are IN) inning it could be a less then reliable reliever and even if its Wuertz or Howry both have issues. Wuertz pitching vs Cincy and Howry in general this season . Which could lead to more runs. Cubs have scored 3 runs in 5 of 8 away vs RHP , 2 runs in another and touched up Morris and Lohse for 7 +....so Vozquez was solid but only 5 innings 1 run @ Wrigley if Cubs can stick to that 3 run trend well you need just 6 or better from Cincy and they should have at least 4 runs through the 1st 6 innings probably more if Reds hit some...regradless I think its a good spot for Cincy to get 6 + runs simply based on Leibers ineffectiveness in day games combined with his lackluster pitching so far this year and the fact he hasnt been stretched out and most Cubs relievers have 4.50 ERAs so far....so they shorter Leiber goes the better chance IMO we see alot of runs cause it starts a domino effect....

Really like Reds and probably go with them -1.5 RL again as well . Depending on lineups & more reseacrh interested in the over as well...

Going to try and catch some sleep ...sloppy 2 days by me and today really bad alot of what I see as forced plays when I look back on them and also didnt get many timely breaks..but it happens the reason why plays LOSE is simple they arent good plays.....at least in my book...

Anyway really like reds and -1.5 RL probably over 9 as I really dont have high expectations for LEiber would love to see the price get cheaper with alot of Cubbie love...

I am a huge John maine fan and love to back him as he is consistent always giving his team a chance to win. LAD came back and stole one today but they dont hit RHP well and took sometime to getto Figuerora. NYM hasnt hit RHP all that well but seems to be improving som eof late they chased Kuroda real early but stalled. Penny is real solid but I think Maine is better and think NYM is tougher matchup wise then LAD is for Maine.....Beltran rested today as well which means LAD up 2-0 here could rest a player or two. Penny really has faced all weak or struggling offenses as well SD and Col twice , SF , Pitt and Cincy which in his career he owns both CIncy (esp @ Great American if I recall) and Colorado

have to look closer tmrw though Maine has struggled in the past vs LAD but they have had some lineup changes past 2 seasons and that would make me shy away from an under which is always tough in a day game @ LAD...so numbers wise even with good SP the over seems likely....

Interesting matchup down in Houston as Perez is pitching well think 6 of 7 allowed 2 runs or less but vs Houston pitched vsthem 5 times all away and lost all in high scoring fashion....Oswalt has pitched fairly well w/o great success vs Wash winning just 3 of 6 but allowing 1 or less in 4 of them and 5run in 7 the other two times . He hasnt faced them since 06 though....

Why I am just talking off the top of my had w/o research Kendrick is pitching better then Owings . I think Owings is getting overhyped and that may vreate valu ein fading him.

Bedard at home facing a team terrible vs LHP starting a pitcher notorious for poor road performances though he improved greatly late last year and into this year...UNDER and SEA? Bedard already beat Texas and really owned them in 2007 they are now 1-5 or 1-6 vs LHSP ....

Not fond of Twins vs LHP and Buerhle has pitched pretty well most of the time and won 7 of 10 with some good starts vs Minny in the past. Livan always hittable even if CHI hasnt seen him there bats wokeup today for sure will it continue?

Some interest again in KC after all I have backed them twice already and lost why not with ther ebest SP? Oh they dont hit !

Backed Garza last time out but think Marcum may have the edge here as he has really been solid all season...

Tigers to avoid the sweep......? discussed this already

I know I am Yankee fan maybe homer but you have to like Wang here who is better then Pettitte after a Yankee LOSS. Granted Cle saw him already but he did outduel CC 1-0 though the hand cramp he suffered last time is a concern of some sorts...Granted Cliff Lee has been awesome but his 4 starts where Oak twice , KC and Minny probably the weakest or some of the weakest teams in the AL vs LHP as Oak who I have high expectation sfor didnt have FT or Davis in CF. So impressed but again look at who he was facing then the first mini test was SEA at home andthey hit him 8h 3 runs in 6 innings.....Yanks off a sweep maybe had a letdown after getting an early lead melky failed twice with bases loaded to get some runs in...Giambi showed life though Damon struggled. Lee in the past has strugged vs NY doing no better then 3 runs in 6 inn which he allowed vs SEA last time out . In NY that could be enough for Wang and NYY to win but 7.5 is to low for me....Lee facing a tougher lineup more likely to allow some runs and Wang has had issues vs Cle and seeing him twice in 10 day is a concern as Boston roughed him up 2nd time around. Now though his secondary stuff is really working especially his lsider....K14 last 13 innings and 19 past 19 inning even though he wasnt sharp @ WSox..

<LI class=morehot>Yankees are 7-0 in Wangs last 7 starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150. <LI class=morehot>Yankees are 10-1 in Wangs last 11 Wednesday starts. <LI class=morehot>Yankees are 6-1 in Wangs last 7 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150. <LI class=morehot>Yankees are 13-3 in Wangs last 16 home starts vs. a team with a losing record. <LI class=morehot>Yankees are 21-5 in Wangs last 26 starts vs. American League Central. <LI class=more>Yankees are 26-7 in Wangs last 33 starts vs. a team with a losing record. <LI class=more>Yankees are 28-8 in Wangs last 36 home starts. <LI class=more>Yankees are 28-8 in Wangs last 36 starts as a home favorite. <LI class=more>Yankees are 20-6 in Wangs last 26 starts during game 1 of a series. <LI class=more>Yankees are 47-15 in Wangs last 62 starts as a favorite. <LI class=more>Yankees are 41-14 in Wangs last 55 starts. <LI class=more>Yankees are 38-13 in Wangs last 51 starts on grass. <LI class=more>Yankees are 25-10 in Wangs last 35 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. <LI class=more>Yankees are 35-16 in Wangs last 51 starts with 4 days of rest.<LI class=more>NYY are 42-17 in their last 59 Wed. games.<LI class=more>
Lots of solid Wang trends plus Cle i s7-21 L28 @ the Stadium....

Granted Lee is a different pitcher now April is over lets see if it carries into May...rough career splits vs NYY...

Melky , Cano and Damon 3-29 with the LHB's going 1-21
Giambi and Matsui 6 -19
Jeter 8-17
Molina 3-8 1hr better then Posadas 3-15
Abreu and Ensberg never faced him ...

20-73 but Damon and Cano nada @ 1-21 the rest 19-52 is solid thanks to Jeter mostly...though with melky 2-8 I would say that 5 of them have okay or better splits vs him in limited looks....Arod missed here 5-13 2hrs 6 rbi and Bernie had hit him well....

As I have said previously with NYY its important to win series and have winning road trips as well as successful home stands . Well they got swept by DET and then swept Sea making them 3-3 on the home stand but losing today they are 3-4 so to me I think that puts great emphasis on the next 2 days. Also Wang has to want to beat CLE probably more then Boston everytime he sees them after the disastarous 07 playoffs...Granted SEA leads the AL so far in avg vs LHP and NYY is near the bottom I just think Lee is ready to get nicked up a bit...I mean Pettitte was solid 6 + 5 hits 1 run , Farnsworth dont look is becoming a reliable reliever again like he was in his BIG years and Joba allowed a 1 hit basically a Yankee Stadium HR...Cramona was let off the hook goingjust 5 inn but 6hits and 5 walks...only 3 runs..very lucky in many ways CLE won this as NY inability to open the game allowed CLE to hang around and well bad shit happens....Indians 8 of 10 under , Yanks 6 of 7 under vs LHP , and Yanks 8-2-1 Under recently.....but 7.5 in the AL???

Okay explain how the fuck is the OAK total 8 with Guthrie vs blanton afte 2 unders with Burres and Olsen vs Eveland and Durscherer? Oak has struggled on day games with the bat I think which leads me to belive with the road warrior Jeremy Guthrie going Orioles and over might be a play... seriously how could the vig be on teh over in this game? Joe West umping? Something has to give here neither SP get smuch run support and Blanton is 0-5 at home so far ...only issue I see is Orioles raked Blanton in his 2 07 starts vs them and hit him fairly hard in 06 ..

Joe Blanton (R) Previous Starts vs. Baltimore

Think if Payton plays over Scott or Jones the lineup is 22-66 vs him with Markakis and Mora hitting well in limited looks 9-20 3hrs 8 rbi

Think at that price also prefer Guthrie and I know as far as run support goes Big Hurt has crushed it past few season in day games if I recall correctly....

Orioles 10-1 UNDER in day games(last one an over though) and A's 9-3 UNDER in day games again why 8 total here should be 7.5 IMO ? I mean Guthrie won 2-0 there vs Dallas Braden and that total was 9 which was clearly at least 1/2 run to high...so if 8.5 was correct then 7.5 seems likely here but who knows...West lowest scoring game is 9-0...gotta love this stat..A's 0-9 and 1-9 last 10 games he did for them back to 0-3 ...including 0-5 and 1-5 at home ...so basically Oak won the 1st game he umped in the last 10 and then lost the following 9 which 5 were in Oakland.....seems even more reason to take O's on top of probably have the SP edge...crazy stuff looking at West 2-5 hme team this year and while this game is -140ish last season favs -120 and under at home were 0-8 with him! If expanded to -140 or less 1-9 ( so 1-1 from 120 to 140) , 9-7 -140 or less (6-5 in this range) , 6-8 (4-4 in this range) and 0-3 (0-1 in the range 120 to 140) this year...so guy doesnt seem to do well with small home favs....

I mean 1-12 since the beginning of 2007 with home favs of -140 or less and 15-15 previous 2 years in that range for 16-27 giving the ROAD team a huge edge at 27-16 ! While its realy skewed for the smallest home chalk the 120 to 140 range he is 11-11 past few years seems to make small road dogs great value when he is behind the dish and he definetly seems to have some OVER tendecies.....
I guess we have to hope the A's games stays under -140 on Wed ....

fyi, lieber on a 70-75 pitch count, gm reports.. read it somewhere on yahoo

Kool TB thanks...so that really hammers home my thoughts about how this game should setup or play out since he is limited to 5 innings at best it seems...before the middle men come in ....

Already played Cincinnati -115 and under 9......Think that under is sweet, and I'm happy to read here about Lieber's pitch count for the Reds ml purposes. Thanks for the info TrueBlue.:shake:

True Tuck probably play both.....really dont see an edge for Cubbies either way outside of Reds hitting slump ......

Thanks Dennis Hopson . GL

CINCINNATI -- Calling himself a "bottom-line" guy, Cubs manager Lou Piniella expressed dismay Tuesday over the red ink the Cubs have been spilling on the win-loss column. They entered Tuesday 3-8 in their last 11 games.
Furthermore, Piniella said unspecified changes may be coming.
"The state of the Cubs?" he said before Tuesday night's game with the Reds. "We've got to get better. That's really the state. We got off to a really good start, and we've given some of that back. We need to improve defensively, I can tell you that.
"That's an area, definitely, that needs improvement, and it's going to be my job to put people out there who can catch the ball. I can't do it in every, every position, but I'm going to do it in as many positions as I can."
With a .982 fielding percentage entering Tuesday, the Cubs led only five other teams. Errors by Mark DeRosa and Mike Fontenot proved costly in Monday's 5-3 loss, and both were out of the lineup Tuesday.
The Cubs won the National League Central last year and were picked by many to do it again. That seems to mean nothing to Piniella.
"Look, I maintain we're going to play better," he said. "But I also maintain two things: that the division has gotten better, and, two, teams enjoy beating the Cubs a lot more than they did last year. I see it. I see how excited St. Louis was when they beat us. I saw how excited Milwaukee was when they beat us.
"So that's going to make it more difficult on us, and if these guys think that because we have talent here and because quote, quote, quote we were picked to do things, that doesn't make it any easier. That's going to make it tougher."
And about those changes?
"We might have to make some changes, yeah," he said. "I hope not. I really hope not. I hope that we can stay just the way we are. We're going through a little bit of a rough spell and that we can work our way through it.
"I've been giving some thought about doing some things with the baseball team. There's no rush. But at the same time, there's some food for thought."

Webb L (Mon)
Davis W (Thur)
Myers W (Sun)
Eaton W (Sat)
Hamels L (Mon)
Suppan L (10 innins) (Sat)
Gallardo W (Sun)
Cassel L (Th)

Reds at home in the day ...nothing really sticks out they are 4-4 losing 2 to stud SP in Hamels and Webb . Losing in xtras to Suppan and milw when Cueto started and losing again whne Cueto started vs unknown Cassels....they beat Gallardo to avoid the sweep vs MILW thanks to Gagne , beat Myers and Eaton , and should have crushed Davis and Zona but freezing day they stranded a ton of runners..

They havent hit well in day games but from the ones at home lot of tough spots between weather and pitchers faced....outside of Cassel and Davis who is real hittable? Eaton at times for sure but he was ragged on all ST so not suprising he stepped up first start...Suppan as well is hit or miss type guy eaither real solid or vad noy many inbewteen type starts ...otherwise Myers and Gallarado very solid , Webb and Hamels very tough...so they faced 4 real solid or very good SP , they faced tow very hittable vets in Suppan and Eaton much like Leiber with the exception being they seemed to be in great spots to succeed where Leiber doesnt IMO....the onlu guys they faced they should have hit real hard they were pkay vs but should have been better but then again Davis pitched and it was like 40 degrees while Cassel was okay making his debit ofr Houston....

Leiber gets a spot start essentially and should give up ay leatst 3 runs in 5 innings looking at everything......also probably looking at it the one of the most hittable guys they have faced in a day start at home which is key since Leiber struggles in day games and some reds excel like Junior and Dunn last season ...

Last 12 days in the AL: 47-24-4 to Under (66.2%), only 1 day has seen more games go over than under (2 tied days, 9 days under ahead)

Vegas learned to never make Nate Robertson a favorite again. He is lucky to be alive; someone that sucks dick that much should have choked to death by now.

Wednesday card looks mediocre -- I'll ride Atlanta, Houston, and Oakland. And, I am keeping my eye on home underdogs. Detroit is a home dog, but I am not so stupid as to back a lost cause like the Tigers right now.

someone that sucks dick that much should have choked to death by now.

Nice to know all of the exgirlfriends are in extremely good health with little opportunity for choking.

No idea why anyone would play Reds for the game instead of the first 5.

Absolutely. The Reds have faced some tough pitchers lately, Lieber should be a nice break from that. I know from Volquez's days as a big Rangers prospect that he is certainly capable of how he is pitching now and don't mind rolling with him for the first 5.

anyone have thoughts on wainwright/francis ?

I don' like backing Francis in the evening, especially at that price. He has pretty severe and consistent day/night splits and of his 2 quality starts this year, his only day start accounts for one of them. STL batting avg. VL drops slightly, but their OPS is about the same as vR. STL is 15-6 in evening games and they hit a little better at night. I think Wainwright has turned a corner(and has had moderate pitcher v batter success against COL) and lean towards STL at plus money.
