Thanks fellas, GLTY.
Volquez scoop....
Rarely has a trade worked out so well for both teams. After coming over for Josh Hamilton, Volquez went 4-0 with a 1.23 ERA last April. He kept his ERA under 2.00 through late June before beginning a slow fade that surely had something to do with a heavier workload than he was used to. He finished eighth in the NL in ERA and tied for second in strikeouts. He was so good that three writers gave him Rookie of the Year votes, even though he obviously didn’t qualify after making 17 starts for the Rangers over the previous three seasons. Volquez will always issue more walks than most, but he’ll probably improve a bit there and again rank among the NL leaders in strikeouts. It’s far less likely that he’ll match last year’s victory total with Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr. gone.
Updated Mar. 23: Edinson Volquez threw five scoreless innings to defeat the Blue Jays on MOnday. Volquez took a loss in his one WBC start for the Dominican Republic, but that was mostly due to slopped defense. He hasn't allowed a run in his 14 innings for the Reds this spring.
